Episode 102: Double Gate

If the skill [Death Resonance] activates in that situation, the chances of survival would dramatically increase.

“That’s amazing, Rindou-san!” 

“And as for the rare item… here it is.”

At just the right moment, the Kobold Paladin’s Coat appeared from the magic circle. 

It was a large coat covered in soft, tough brown fur. And it looked very big. 

However, despite its appearance, it was surprisingly light and seemed very practical. But— 

“…Isn’t this too big?” 

“…Hmm, you’re right.”

The coat was way too large for any of them to wear. The hem was dragging along the ground.

At Kyousuke’s suggestion, Rindou and the others began searching for a new path. 

They knocked on walls, kicked the floor, and checked for anything suspicious. But they couldn’t find anything.

As Rindou was deep in thought, he suddenly remembered a conversation back at the Association building.

The existence of a star-4 gate that even a C-rank party failed to clear, and a certain possibility that had been suspected.

“…Double gate?” 

Rindou muttered. And as if they had heard him, Kyousuke and Ayane turned around at once.

“Double gate?” 

“Oh, no, I just thought that might be a possibility. After all, it’s only been confirmed a few times, and it’s not like this happens repeatedly or anything—” 

“Hey, Rindou-san, Yada-senpai!” 

Rindou was answering with a wry smile. But Ayane interrupted him, suddenly shouting.

“Y-You don’t feel that? The floor… is shaking?” 

“An earthquake inside the gate?”

Ayane nervously whispered, and Kyousuke became more vigilant.

——Boom!

“Whoa!” 

Suddenly, a huge tremor shook the ground. A large crack appeared in the floor.

“Is this a joke!?” 

“Get together quickly!” 

“We won’t make it! The floor—it’s collapsing!”

Because they had been separated while searching for the new path, Rindou and the others were standing far apart. 

They tried to group together to avoid being scattered. But they were too late. And they were quickly sucked down to the lower level as the floor collapsed beneath them.
