My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 107: Gergale ②
Episode 107: Gergale ②
“Don’t let him heal!”
“I know!”
If its right arm regenerated there, the purpose of using the skill [Iron Wall Reflection] would have been wasted. And Rindou would have been forced to act more cautiously going forward. This would have made it much harder to land another reflection. It would potentially tip the battle in Gergale’s favor.
“Damn it! These guys just keep coming!”
Rindou could only attack in close combat. He found himself blocked by the swarm of Kobolds.
“It can’t be helped!”
Kageboshi muttered and moved slightly backward. She activating her [Shadow Magic] skill.
“[Shadow Needle]!”
From every shadow in front of Kageboshi, jet-black needles shot up from the ground. The needles pierced the Kobolds, instantly clearing a path.
“Go, Rindou Amachi!”
“You don’t have to tell me twice!”
As the shadow needles dissipated, the lifeless Kobolds collapsed to the ground. Stepping over their bodies, Rindou lunged at Gergale.
“Take this!”
A full-force strike found its mark on Gergale’s neck.
——Slash!
The sensation of severing flesh and bone coursed through Rindou’s hands via his Gale Sword.
——Boom!
“Ugh!?”
Moments later, a powerful blow drove into Rindou’s abdomen. It sent him flying parallel to the ground.
“[Shadow Movement]!”
Just as Rindou was about to crash into a wall, Kageboshi caught him and activated [Shadow Movement]. They phased into the wall to avoid impact. However, Rindou failed to meet the prerequisite condition for entering shadows—holding his breath—and was immediately expelled from it.
“Are you okay, Rindou Amachi?”
“…Not exactly.”
Rindou admitted honestly as he rummaged through the pocket where he had kept his potions.
“…At least one of them made it.”
Most of the potions had shattered, but one Intermediate Potion had survived. He poured it over himself, exhaled deeply, and got back on his feet.
“No more healing items from here.”
“Seems like it. And more importantly…”
Kageboshi cut herself off, her gaze fixed on Gergale.
“…Damn it, its arm’s regenerated.”
Gergale’s right arm had returned to normal—it was the same arm that had struck Rindou earlier.
“…Hey, Kageboshi, I definitely slashed Gergale’s neck, didn’t I?”
Rindou had felt the definite sensation of cutting through his target. Yet Gergale was alive and had counterattacked. He couldn’t understand what had happened.
“You cut a Kobold that Gergale used as a shield.”
“…What!?”
“It’s the truth. Didn’t you realize it?”
Hearing Kageboshi’s reply, Rindou became even more bewildered.
(…No way. I’m sure I sliced through Gergale’s neck! But to Kageboshi, it looked like I cut through a Kobold’s neck?)
As he wrestled with this confusion, Rindou looked straight ahead at Gergale. It stood there with lips stained in the bl00d of its kin.
(…No, focus on reality, Rindou! The fact is, Gergale’s alive, and it hit me!)
So then, what was the sight Rindou had seen?
“…Could it be Gergale’s skill?”
“A skill…? A type of illusion?”
“Earthling, simple! Prey, prey! Grahahaha!”
Gergale laughed boisterously as it watched Rindou and Kageboshi react.
“Don’t understand? Grahahaha! Oh, I see, you don’t understand!”
Just as he uttered these cryptic words, Gergale’s figure started to distort.
“Stay alert!”
“I know!”
“Too slow!”
“”What—!?””
The voice that had been in front of them now echoed between Rindou and Kageboshi. A moment later, a powerful force struck Rindou’s right shoulder and Kageboshi’s left, sending them flying.
Though the impact was weaker than the earlier blow to his abdomen, Rindou managed to brace himself and quickly stood up.
“Kageboshi! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine! Worry about yourself—”
“Behind you!”
“What?”
“Grahahaha!”
Now it was Kageboshi’s turn to feel confused. Though she had reoriented herself faster than Rindou and kept her eyes on Gergale, it was somehow behind her. Reacting to Rindou’s warning, she noticed the ominous presence at her back. She heard Gergale’s unsettling laughter.
There was no time to turn around, so she tried to activate [Shadow Movement]. But she wasn’t fast enough.
“Ugh!?”
Just as she began to sink into the shadows, Gergale’s claws closed in. Though she managed to shield herself with her dagger and left arm, the devastating blow pulled her out of the shadow. It shattered her dagger, and carved deep into her left arm. It launched her into the air.
