“I can’t believe you completely ignored the theory of targeting the gaps in the armor to defeat it. I’m amazed.”

Kyousuke muttered in surprise after seeing Rindou slice through the Lizard Paladin, armor and all.

“Hey, Kyousuke!”

Rindou called out to him, and Kyousuke waved his hand. A look of exasperation was on his face.

“So, we’re heading deeper, right?”

Although Rindou had knowledge about the gate’s strategies, this was his first actual experience with the dungeon. So he wanted to confirm the next step with Kyousuke.

“That’s right. As we go deeper, we’ll find the core of the otherworld. Once we destroy it, the dungeon will be cleared. And we’ll be automatically transported back to the entrance.”

After confirming the plan with Kyousuke, Rindou turned his gaze ahead.

[The [Gacha] skill has been activated from defeating a monster.]

However, before proceeding, a window displaying Rindou’s [Gacha] skill appeared.

[You have obtained a rare item: [Flame Bracelet].]

When the window showed the acquired item, a magic circle appeared before them. The Flame Bracelet flew out from it, rolling onto the ground.

“So, this is the Flame Bracelet?”

Rindou picked up the Flame Bracelet. He began to check its equipment stats to see what kind of abilities it granted.

“….…I see, it gives flame resistance.”

The equipment provided resistance to heat and reduced fire damage. Adding to that, It even had a chance to add fire damage to attacks, as displayed on the stats.

(I don’t really like that the fire damage is based on probability—there’s no certainty. But the flame resistance is definitely useful.)

Since it was uncertain what kind of environment they would encounter in future dungeons, having more resistance-based equipment was a welcome addition.

“…Well, I would have liked to use this for the current dungeon, though.”

Rindou muttered to himself, as the sun still beat down on him. It was making his sweat flow nonstop. He felt it was best to finish the dungeon quickly and leave. With that in mind, he put the Flame Bracelet on his right arm and began walking.

“Is that the item drop for today?”

Kyousuke caught up with him. He was walking beside him as he asked.

“Yeah. It’s an item that grants flame resistance.”

“Environmental adaptability is important for dungeon exploration. So that’s a valuable piece of equipment.”

Rindou nodded in agreement with Kyousuke’s words. Soon, they discovered the core of the otherworld.

“It’s not hidden anywhere, huh?”

The core of the otherworld was placed at the center of a plaza atop a rocky area. It was clearly visible, floating above what appeared to be a pedestal. So even Rindou could immediately spot it.

“I guess it depends on the structure of the otherworld. In maze-like dungeons, the core is often hidden. But in natural environments like this one, it’s usually placed out in the open.”

“That’s true.”

“Also, the core of lower-rank gates is usually only destructible. But the core of higher-rank gates might be rare equipment. So players tend to prioritize clearing the higher-rank gates.”

Kyousuke’s words were true. Rindou was also eager to clear the higher-rank gates as quickly as possible. His goal was, of course, to obtain the Elixir necessary to save Kyouka.

“Rindou-kun. If you get the Elixir, have you thought about what you want to do after that?”

“After getting the Elixir, huh…”

Rindou had been so focused on becoming a player and obtaining the Elixir. He had never really thought beyond that.

“Well, now that you’re a player and have gained power, it might be good to start thinking about what to do after you achieve your goal.”

“That’s true.”

As he said that, Rindou prepared his Gale Sword.

With a sharp swing of the Gale Sword, the core of the otherworld was cleaved in half. 

Immediately afterward, the ground began to shake. And light started to emanate from Rindou’s body.

“What’s happening?”

“The transfer to the entrance has begun.”

“Oh, right. I wonder if Ayane is okay?”

Rindou suddenly remembered Ayane, whom he had completely forgotten about. He called out, and Kyousuke replied with a wry smile.

“Ayane-san will be fine. She’s someone who’s teamed up and cleared many gates before. So she understands the transfer process.”

“Good, that’s a relief.”

With that, Rindou and Kyousuke were transported to the entrance. It was there that they reunited with Ayane, who had been holding off the monsters.

“Good job, Rindou-san! Yada-senpai!”

“You’re unharmed, as expected.”

Ayane greeted them cheerfully, and Kyousuke spoke with admiration.

“It wasn’t such a tough monster. And there weren’t many of them, so………”

“Even so, that’s impressive.”

“Well, you, Rindou-san, aren’t hurt either. You fought a boss monster and came out unscathed!”

Rindou felt that Ayane’s words were sincere as he looked at her beaming smile.

“A talk?”
