My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 68: The Second Ally
Episode 68: The Second Ally
Rindou began explaining the details of his [Gacha] skill to Ayane. It wasn’t just about acquiring skills—depending on the results, rare items and equipment could also be obtained. Furthermore, increasing the skill’s mastery could evolve it into higher-level abilities. He shared everything he currently knew about it.
“…Haha… I don’t know. Even hearing it directly, I’m not sure if I should believe it or not.”
Ayane’s face was stiff with disbelief. Sitting next to Rindou, Kyousuke nodded repeatedly.
“I was just as shocked at first, Ayane-san. My reaction was about the same as yours.”
“Really?”
Rindou asked, tilting his head. Kyousuke responded with a resigned sigh.
“Yes, really.”
“Wait, if that’s the case, shouldn’t you be at least a B-rank? No—maybe even higher!”
Ayane exclaimed. Rindou had extraordinary skills. And he had the ability to collect rare items and equipment in bulk. She argued that someone like him shouldn’t remain at C-rank.
“I’m fine with staying at C-rank.”
“But why? Higher ranks mean more support from the Association.”
Ayane pressed on. It was the same reasoning that Kenji had given before.
However, Rindou preferred to remain inconspicuous. His primary goal was to obtain the Elixir to save Kyouka, and a sudden rank promotion would only draw unwanted attention.
“I’ve said this many times: I don’t want to stand out. Not for my skills or my strength.”
He understood all too well that his abilities were extraordinary. Precisely because of this, he wanted to avoid attracting those who might try to exploit or harm not just him, but also his family.
“It’s for Kyouka. Please understand.”
“…Alright.”
Ayane reluctantly agreed. Though she wasn’t entirely convinced, her suggestion was driven by the disparity between Rindou’s skills and his rank. It was not a desire to pressure him.
Rindou could sense her genuine concern, and thus decided not to pursue the matter further.
“I hope you can keep Rindou-kun’s abilities confidential and support him.”
“Why is that, Yada-senpai?”
“Even as an A-rank, you can see that Rindou’s skills are out of the ordinary, right?”
“Well…yes.”
“The gates are still appearing without end. Protecting and fostering someone like Rindou-kun could be the key to our future. I think Branch Manager Dōmura would agree with me on this.”
Rindou wanted to deny being someone so important. But seeing Ayane’s serious expression, he held his tongue.
“………..You might be right.”
“Seriously?”
“Don’t you feel that way, Rindou-kun?”
Rindou thought it was rare for anyone to confidently say they were the light that could guide everyone’s future.
“Most people wouldn’t think that way.”
“Really? With that kind of power, wouldn’t you feel like shouting, ‘I’ll save everyone!’ or something?”
“Nope. I only care about saving Kyouka.”
Even if it made him seem cold, Rindou’s determination had remained unchanged since the day monsters killed his parents and hurt Kyouka. When asked about his plans after obtaining the Elixir, Rindou admitted he hadn’t thought that far ahead. He still hadn’t achieved his current goal.
“Well, Ayane-san and I both have high hopes for your extraordinary abilities. I’m sure Branch Manager Dōmura does too.”
“I’ll do everything I can to help! And I promise I won’t tell anyone about Rindou-san’s skill—not even the Branch Manager!”
Ayane said, straightening her posture with a resolute expression.
Faced with their sincerity, Rindou let out a small sigh.
“…Thank you, both of you. Once I get the Elixir, I’ll try to help as many people as I can—within my reach, of course.”
Hearing this, Kyousuke and Ayane exchanged a glance and clenched their fists in determination.
“By the way…Rindou-san!”
Ayane suddenly called out with a strong tone.
“Huh? What is it?”
“…Would you officially form a party with me?”
“Ah, sure.”
“I know it’s a lot to ask, and I understand if you need time to think—wait, did you just say yes?”
Ayane had expected hesitation or even rejection. Yet, Rindou agreed without any fuss.
“…Really?”
“I told you about my skill with that intention in mind.”
“…Ah, ah, thank you so much! I’ll do my absolute best!”
“Uh, I don’t think that’s something an A-rank like Ayane should be saying…”
Though he muttered this with a hint of exasperation, Rindou couldn’t help but smile. It was because he knew he now had one more dependable ally by his side.
