My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 74: The Colosseum ②
Episode 74: The Colosseum ②
(Note: Special for this chapter, dialogues through speaker, faraway voice, or telephone are in ‘……’.)
The jeering and insults from the crowd fell into a stunned silence.
The spectators from the otherworld had been yelling mere moments ago. They now seemed bewildered. They were struggling to comprehend why their representatives were suddenly headless.
[Skill: [Gacha] activated.]
A familiar notification window appeared.
(Well, it activated even when I killed other players, so this isn’t surprising.)
Though the enemies resembled humans, they were beings from another world—monsters.
Feeling a small sense of relief at the activation of [Gacha], Rindou was secretly pleased. If they could gain strength even in the Colosseum, it was a welcome advantage.
[The gacha has awarded the equipment: [Chipped Troll Greatsword].]
The massive sword that the Troll opponent wielded earlier materialized on the stage. It caused a commotion among the spectators.
“What… just happened?”
“A weapon appeared out of nowhere?”
“Is that magic?”
(Do they not have the concept of loot drops in this world?)
Rindou glanced at the weapon. Deciding it wasn’t immediately useful, he turned to Kyousuke.
“Can you store this in the Magic Bag?”
“Of course.”
As Kyousuke stowed the sword in the Magic Bag, the crowd murmured louder.
However, Rindou ignored their reactions and focused on the next fight.
“Bring out the next opponent.”
Though the announcer’s exact location was unclear, his voice carried.
‘…Tch! Very well! We will now summon the representatives for the second match!’
The announcer’s frustration was evident. It gave Rindou and his team a small sense of satisfaction.
Still, they quickly refocused. They knew they couldn’t afford to be careless.
“The next opponents…….. huh, they’re small?”
“But their weapons are massive.”
“Looks like this won’t be easy.”
The new challengers stood barely up to Rindou’s waist. But they carried oversized weapons like greatswords and war hammers. Some were clad in full armor with large shields.
The greatsword alone was larger than the one wielded by the Trolls in the first match. It was making it clear at a glance that these opponents were stronger.
“Really, Trolls die because they underestimate their opponents.”
“In contrast, we fight with full caution.”
“Indeed. Even if they’re a weak race, these must be their elites.”
The monsters formed a tight formation as they spoke.
“So, the second match opponents are Dwarves, huh?”
“Small, but strong monsters. So those are Dwarves.”
“Yes, and I’ve heard they’re skilled in smithing. We’ll need to watch out for their weapons as well.”
Kyousuke’s remark made Rindou nod in understanding. While Ayane added more context.
If they had to be wary not only of the Dwarves’ physical abilities but also their weapons, the mental strain could be significant.
If they could end the battle in an instant like the first match, that would be ideal. However, knowing their enemies might have observed the previous fight, they were likely to be on high alert from the start.
“…Even if it takes longer, winning with minimal injuries should be our priority.”
“Considering there are five matches, that’s the right approach.”
“Then this time, may I use my skill?”
After Kyousuke agreed with Rindou’s assessment, Ayane asked to activate her skill.
“What’s your skill, Ayane?”
“Huh? You didn’t know my skill, Rindou-san?”
“I’ve been too focused on my own issues to learn about other players’ skills.”
Rindou had prepared extensively for battles against monsters. But he hadn’t gathered much information about other players’ abilities.
“I have the skill [Group Command]. It allows me to enhance the physical abilities of players I recognize.”
“A buff for players you recognize? Does that include yourself?”
Rindou was concerned that Ayane might not be able to fight effectively if her skill only boosted others. However, Ayane smiled confidently.
“It applies to me as well. And the more players I recognize, the stronger the buff becomes for me.”
“That’s an incredible skill… So that’s why you were leading during the Stampede,”
Rindou said, recalling the event as Ayane explained her ability.
“My skill truly shines when I’m in a position to lead many players. This time, it’s just you and Yada-senpai. But with the two of you at your full potential, I’m confident we can significantly boost our combat power—even including myself.”
Her words subtly implied that even if Ayane didn’t exert herself, Rindou and Kyousuke’s abilities that were enhanced by her buff would be more than sufficient to handle the battle.
“Leave it to us.”
“I’ll give it everything I’ve got too.”
Both Rindou and Kyousuke understood Ayane’s intent perfectly.
“Alright, let’s do this.”
“The one to watch out for is the Dwarf with the large shield up front.”
“Let’s take care of him first!”
‘Now, everyone, are you ready? The second match—begiiiiins!’
As both sides prepared for battle, the Colosseum echoed with the announcer’s declaration of the second match’s start.
