My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 79: The Colosseum ⑦
Episode 79: The Colosseum ⑦
——The story rewinds slightly.
“Hmm, so they’ve switched to picking us off one by one.”
Right after being separated by the wooden wall, Kyousuke muttered his observation.
(Three elves: one with a sword, one with a bow, and one with a staff. This magic is probably the work of the one with the staff, but which one will come for me?)
Kyousuke was calmly analyzing the situation. Like Rindou, he was also enduring attacks from the wooden branches.
“Yup! Hah! Well, of course. If there’s a wall like this, attacks will follow, right? Take this!”
However, Kyousuke had faced similar challenges in past dungeons he’d conquered.
From experience, he could predict what kinds of attacks might come and how to counter them. It allowed him to respond with composure.
“Hm?”
“So, my opponent is a skilled one, it seems.”
As Kyousuke maneuvered past a corner while dealing effortlessly with the attacking branches, an Elf wielding a bow appeared in the hallway ahead.
The Elf was already prepared to fire. He stood at the far edge of the stage, fitting for an archer.
“At least allow me to kill you without suffering! [Wind Arrow]!”
With widened eyes, the Elf loosed a wind-cloaked arrow.
The arrow, propelled by gusts of wind, closed the distance in less than a second.
“Hah!”
——Clang!
“What?! Impossible!”
Kyousuke effortlessly cut down the [Wind Arrow], even on first encounter.
“Goodness, that was dangerous.”
“Ugh! There’s more where that came from!”
The Elf quickly steadied their breath, which had been rattled by shock. And he seamlessly fired off a series of [Wind Arrows] at Kyousuke.
(Normally, I’d rush in and close the distance. But that risks getting too far from Rindou-kun. …..…Guess I’ll play on their turf for now.)
Straightforward, distant arrow attacks posed no real threat to Kyousuke. He calmly tracked their speed and trajectory, countering each one with precision strikes of his sword.
This skill, though simple for him, was an exceptional feat—something only someone like Kyousuke could accomplish. As he had devoted himself to the path of the sword.
“Ha-ha-ha-ha! As I thought, my instincts were right! You’re the strongest trash among us!”
Suddenly, the Elf with the bow spoke up in an unexpected manner.
“You’re calling me the strongest?”
“Your skill in cutting down my arrows without effort! I shall accept you as my slave. How about it? Will you join me?”
Halting his attacks to make such an offer left Kyousuke dumbfounded.
“…Ha-ha! What a strange thing to say!”
“How dare you laugh at me! Such insolence!”
The Elf’s absurdity was so amusing that Kyousuke couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Sorry, but your massive misunderstanding is just too funny.”
“Misunderstanding?”
“Yes. You said I’m the strongest of the three of you, but that’s entirely wrong. If anything, I’d rank as the weakest.”
Smiling brightly, Kyousuke made the claim.
“You’re spouting nonsense. How could someone who cuts down my arrows be the weakest?”
“That self-centered way of thinking—consider fixing it.”
“You scum! Are you mocking me?!”
“No, just giving you some advice.”
“Enough! I’ll kill you myself!”
Angered by Kyousuke’s remarks, the Elf strung another arrow. He was ready to end the fight.
“I’ve had enough of a garbage like you! I refuse to associate any further!”
“That’s my line, but fine.”
“I’ll kill you!”
The Elf glared at Kyousuke with blazing eyes, as a violent wind swirled around him.
The wooden walls trembled, branches and leaves scattering through the air.
“Alright, then I guess it’s time I stop holding back.”
“You’ll have no time to regret not taking this seriously from the start!”
With those words, the Elf unleashed not just one arrow but also the six remaining arrows in his quiver. They were all floating mid-air and aiming at Kyousuke.
“[Seventh Death Arrow]!”
While the one arrow was nocked at his bow, the six floating arrows flew toward Kyousuke all at once.
Each arrow had a different speed and trajectory. It made evasion complex.
Still, Kyousuke read each one’s movements. He responded deftly and neutralized them one by one.
By the time he dealt with the fifth arrow, the situation became clear.
(I see, so he’s cornering me intentionally.)
Behind him stood the wooden wall, with no space to escape to either side.
Realizing the Elf’s tactic of using relentless arrows to trap him, Kyousuke couldn’t help but admire the cruelty of it.
While cutting down the sixth arrow, Kyousuke glanced at the elf.
Seeing Kyousuke seemingly trapped, the elf grinned with confidence in his imminent victory.
(…This is getting a little irritating.)
“Die, you trashhhh!”
The Elf unleashed a single arrow cloaked in a violent gale. It was aimed directly at Kyousuke, who was cornered in a dead-end.
The arrow tore through the stage as it sped toward him.
Kyousuke activated the skill [Battle Spirit]. It was sharpening his focus as he readied his sword and swung.
——Slash!
Despite the violent winds tearing at his body, Kyousuke’s strike was unwavering. He swung his sword cleanly, splitting the arrow vertically from its tip.
“It’s overrrr!”
Immediately after, the bow-wielding Elf, who had been standing at the far end of the passage, emerged from the wooden wall behind Kyousuke.
In his right hand, he gripped a dagger. He was aiming to slash Kyousuke’s throat with a sharp strike.
“As I expected!”
Without missing a beat, Kyousuke transitioned seamlessly from cutting the arrow. He placed one hand on the ground, performing a forward roll. Using his raised right leg, he kicked the dagger upward.
As his foot landed back on the stage, his sword followed with an upward slash.
“…Wha… what… just happened?”
The Elf was sliced cleanly from groin to head. He couldn’t immediately comprehend what had transpired.
“It seems you’re the one who’s finished,”
Kyousuke said calmly.
With a decisive overhead slash, he cleaved the elf’s body in two. It was split cleanly down the middle.
