Episode 81: Colosseum ⑨
(Note: Special for this chapter, dialogues through speaker, faraway voice, or telephone are in ‘……’.)
They couldn’t achieve victory unscathed.
However, they managed to claim victory without losing anyone.
“Good job, everyone. That’s the third match done.”
“For now, it seems we’re all still alive.”
“Of course we are!”
When Rindou offered words of appreciation, Kyousuke expressed relief at everyone’s safety. And Ayane confidently puffed out her chest, as if it were only natural.
‘…That… can’t be…’
The announcer let out a voice of shock. And the audience fell into complete silence.
Rindou was intrigued by what sort of announcement might follow. He couldn’t help but look forward to it inwardly.
’Hmph, for trash, you’ve done surprisingly well.’
But the voice that echoed through the Colosseum was different from the announcer’s earlier tone.
“…Who’s there?”
‘I am the king of this world—Ignacio Abaldios.’
At this unexpected timing, the leader of the otherworld faction revealed himself. It left Rindou and the others exchanging uneasy glances.
‘I’ll admit it—you’re strong. But trash is still trash.’
“What are you trying to say?”
Though Ignacio acknowledged their strength, he dismissed them as garbage without hesitation. This blatant insult made Rindou bristle with irritation.
“There are two matches left, but… this is tedious. Let’s make the next match the final battle.”
The king’s declaration stirred murmurs among the audience. Which quickly escalated into a deafening roar of approval.
“Whoa! That’s our king for you!”
“Crush that trash, your majesty!”
“Ignacio! Ignacio! Ignacio!”
The cheers grew into chants praising Ignacio. It was causing the entire Colosseum to tremble.
(I personally wanted to take down more monsters………. but I’d rather avoid an attrition battle.)
To activate his [Gacha] skill, Rindou needed to defeat monsters. Reducing the number of matches wasn’t ideal for him.
However, forcing Kyousuke and Ayane to overexert themselves was out of the question. And losing equated to death. It was clear that priorities couldn’t be misjudged.
“…Fine. I’ll take you up on your proposal.”
‘Wait there. I’ll come to you now.’
The moment Ignacio declared this, part of the audience seating exploded.
Smoke and debris filled the air. Audience members who had been seated were thrown into the air, only to crash down onto other sections.
“What… what’s going on?”
As Rindou exclaimed in shock, something emerged from the smoke. It landed at the center of the stage.
“…Phew, I kept you waiting.”
The same voice that had echoed earlier now came directly from the creature standing on the stage.
“Ignacio Abaldios…”
Faced with Ignacio in person, Rindou muttered his name with a slight hint of tension.
From the moment Ignacio appeared, his overpowering presence was palpable.
“Oh? You look at me and can still utter my name?”
Ignacio smirked ferociously, as if deliberately exuding his aura.
“…You’re strong.”
“Of course. I am the strongest of the strongest, the king of the supreme race.”
Ignacio’s absolute confidence left Rindou uncharacteristically unable to fire back. It was unlike with previous opponents.
Ignacio’s presence alone was overwhelming.
‘U-Um, Your Majesty? Who are the remaining representatives for the final match?’
The announcer’s voice broke through, trembling slightly. The fear of saying something wrong and being killed was evident.
“Do you think I need assistance to dispose of trash?”
‘N-No, no, no, no! My deepest apologies!!’
When Ignacio answered, the announcer immediately apologized profusely and fell silent.
“…Interrupted. But as I said, I’ll fight alone. Let’s have an all-out battle.”
As Ignacio declared this, his emerald green hair swayed as he drew the longsword from his waist.
“Well, it’s your bl00d that will stain this stage, trash.”
“We’ve no intention of losing here.”
“That’s right. From the start, we’ll give it our all right from the start.”
“Looks like I’ll finally have to reveal my trump card.”
Ignacio’s ferocious grin was met with determined glares from the trio, who readied their weapons.
‘L-L-L-Ladies and gentlemen…! The final match… b-begins nowwww!’
Even as his voice trembled, the announcer’s signal for the final match reverberated through the Colosseum.
