Rindou repeatedly attempted to destroy the wooden wall with his Gale Sword. But it only managed to slice a few branches and leaves, which immediately regenerated. 

He could try to use his reflection ability to counter the accumulated minor damage from the [Wind Arrows]. But whether that would destroy the wall remained uncertain. 

Still, if there was even a slight possibility, he felt it was worth trying and prepared to use the reflection ability. 

“Wait, Rindou-san!” 

Ayane’s voice echoed through the air. 

“Why are you stopping me, Ayane?” 

Although Kyousuke had been separated by the wooden wall, Rindou and Ayane remained together in the same area. 

This setup was a result of Ignacio wanting to enjoy his “game”. It was a move that could be seen as a form of negligence. 

Ayane, however, analyzed the situation calmly. 

“Can you hear it? The sounds of Yada-senpai fighting.” 

Hearing her words, Rindou sharpened his senses. 

——Clang! Clang! Thud! 

The faint but unmistakable sounds of battle could be heard coming from beyond the wooden wall. 

“I can hear it. But if that’s the case, we need to hurry even more!” 

“Yada-senpai is fighting because he believes we will break through the wall and come to his aid. But if you’re not in a state to fight when we get there, it will be meaningless!” 

“I can still fight even if I use [Iron Wall Reflection]!” 

“I’m saying we need to save your ace in the hole for later!” 

“Then what do we do? We can’t reunite with Kyousuke unless we get past this wall!” 

As their argument grew heated, Kyousuke’s situation was becoming increasingly dire with each passing moment. 

Rindou raised his voice. Ayane responded with a look of determination. 

“I’ll use my skill.” 

“Your skill? You mean your [Group Command] skill? But that can’t break through the wall—” 

“I mean my other skill.” 

“…Another skill?” 

Like Kyousuke, Ayane had been keeping a skill hidden. 

While her registered skill with the Player Association was [Group Command], she had another, unlisted skill kept as a secret weapon. 

She only used it in places away from prying eyes. And the only person who knew about her dual skills was Branch Manager Kenji. 

(I always thought it was strange she could reach A-rank with just her [Group Command]. So, that’s her secret.) 

A-rank or higher are often entrusted with on-site command roles. Reaching it required individual abilities worthy of the rank. 

Ayane’s [Group Command] skill strengthened herself and players within its range. It was undeniably powerful. 

However, if something happened to Ayane, the remaining players would likely fall prey to the monsters. 

Merely boosting others wasn’t enough; having sufficient self-enhancement to survive on the battlefield was essential for A-rank players. 

“My other skill is [Fūrinkazan].” 

(Note: Fūrinkazan (風林火山) is a Japanese term that originates from the famous battle standard of Takeda Shingen, a prominent warlord from Japan’s Sengoku period (16th century). 

The phrase is derived from Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” and translates to:

“As swift as the wind, as silent as the forest, as fierce as fire, and as immovable as the mountain.”)

“[Fūrinkazan]? Like the banner of Takeda Shingen, the Sengoku warlord?” 

“That’s correct.” 

As she answered Rindou’s question, Ayane sheathed her sword and crouched into an iai stance. 

Closing her eyes, she focused her entire being on the next strike, taking a long, slow breath. Then— 

“Skill: [Ka (Fire)].” 

The moment she spoke, Ayane unleashed her iai slash toward the wooden wall. 

Just before the blade left its sheath, vivid red magic enveloped it. It transformed into a fiery blaze as it was unleashed. 

Ignacio had mentioned to Kyousuke that a weak point existed in the wall. But Ayane had no way of knowing that. 

If they had time to search, they might have found it. But the urgency of the situation left no room for that. 

Recognizing the absence of enemies in the immediate area, Ayane resolved to take on the responsibility of destroying the wall herself. 

——BOOOOOOOM!! 

A ferocious strike erupted. It was accompanied by flames as it blasted through the wooden wall. 

The Colosseum shook violently as the wall was engulfed in fire. It was illuminating the area in a fiery red glow. 

Black smoke billowed into the air. And through the haze, Rindou saw the shattered remnants of the wall. 

“It might regenerate! Go now, Rindou-san!” 

“Got it!” 

Having destroyed a wall that had resisted countless attacks with a single strike, Ayane likely endured significant recoil from her skill. 

Acknowledging this, Rindou dashed toward the opening as instructed. 

“I’ll join you later! Please, take care of Yada-senpai!” 

“Leave it to me!” 

As Rindou disappeared into the black smoke, Ayane was smiling faintly. She then collapsed to the ground.
