“…Found them.”

As they advanced, just as Rindou had predicted, higher-ranked Kobolds were gathered ahead.

“A Kobold Ranger and a Kobold Knight.” 

“We’ll need to be cautious of traps as well.”

The smaller one was the Kobold Ranger, and the slightly larger one was the Kobold Knight. 

The Kobold Ranger was seemingly on alert. It frequently sniffed the air, checking if any enemies were approaching.

“Still, Kyousuke’s Magic Bag really has all sorts of things in it.” 

Rindou and the others hadn’t been detected by the Kobold Ranger, who was on high alert. The reason for that was because of the items Kyousuke had prepared for them.

“The Deodorizing Incense eliminates our scent. It’s perfect for dealing with Kobolds.” 

“Maybe we’ll even encounter a robot in the future?” 

“What kind of strange thinking is that?”

As Kyousuke answered about the items, Ayane spoke up with an odd opinion. It caused confusion.

“Stop talking about cat-type robots and focus!” 

“Well, I didn’t say it…” 

“Yeah, yeah.”

Rindou muttered in exasperation, and Kyousuke grumbled. But Ayane responded cheerfully.

“I want you to handle the Kobold Ranger, Kyousuke. Is that okay?” 

“Of course. I’ve already got the traps mapped out.” 

“Impressive.”

While having such casual conversation, Kyousuke was keeping an eye on the situation on the floor where the Kobolds were located. 

He observed strange indentations and barely visible lines that marked the traps.

“Ayane, I’ll leave the surroundings to you.” 

“Are you going to take on the Kobold Knight, Rindou-san?” 

“Yeah. I have something I want to try.”

Rindou said this while focusing on one skill displayed in the status screen.

“It’s the skill [Magic Sword] I got when I defeated Ignacio.”

Rindou had removed the [Basic Earth Magic] skill because it was impractical due to its low mana cost. While he had some concerns about [Magic Sword], he believed it could become a powerful skill when used in combination with his swordsmanship.

“[Magic Sword], huh. Yeah, it’s a skill I want to try out too.” 

“I’m so jealous.” 

“Well, I think Ayane’s skill is pretty strong too.”

While discussing this, Rindou and his team got into combat-ready positions.

“Alright… Let’s do this.” 

“Understood. I’m going.”

With that final word, Kyousuke took a deep breath. As he opened his eyes wide, he charged forward in an instant.

“Garua! Ooooonn!”

As soon as Kyousuke appeared in the room, the Kobold Ranger noticed him and turned around. It howled to alert its comrades. 

All the Kobolds in the area turned to look at Kyousuke. But without slowing down, he swung his sword at the closest Kobold Ranger.

“Gabyah!?”

The Kobold Ranger’s head flew through the air. It landed right on top of a trap it had set.

——BOOOOOOOM!!

There was a huge explosion as the head was blown to bits. It sent dust flying throughout the floor.

Kyousuke immediately charged at another Kobold Ranger, dodging traps as he advanced.

“I’ll go too.” 

“Be careful, Rindou-san.” 

“Leave it to me.”

Rindou dashed into the dust storm. He relied on his presence detection to avoid the Kobold Rangers. He was making his way toward the Kobold Knight.

“…Grrrr.”

The Kobold Knight also seemed to have noticed Rindou’s presence. It growled as it turned to face him.

“Yo. Let’s do this one-on-one.” 

“Garuaaaa!!”

Right after Rindou spoke, the Kobold Knight charged at him. It used its strong legs to close the distance. 

It raised its sword in its right hand and brought it down with full force.

Rindou responded by using his Gale Sword to parry the strike, entering a sword lock. However, the Kobold Knight’s weapon wasn’t just its sword.

“Gaaaarrrr!!”

It opened its large mouth wide. Sharp fangs were coming dangerously close to Rindou.

“Take this! [Magic Sword]!”

Immediately, a powerful gust of wind burst forth from Rindou’s Gale Sword.

“Garua!?!” 

The gust of wind blasted into the Kobold Knight’s mouth, cutting through with a slicing wind.

“Go-gahhh, Gaaaarrrrrr!!?”

Rindou cried out, swinging his sword again with the slicing wind wrapped around it. He further slashed at the Kobold Knight.

As the wind continued to slice through its body, the fierce blow from the Gale Sword made victory certain.

(This is the best skill for me!)

The Kobold Knight was unable to withstand the slicing winds and the powerful strike from the Gale Sword. Its body was cleaved in two, Its torso split in half.
