Episode 128: The Mysterious Room

“Dammit, what the hell were you doing?! And where the hell is this place!?”

Kunichika advanced toward Kyousuke. But Kyousuke simply shrugged his shoulders and answered calmly, as usual.

“Take it easy, Kunichika. We don’t know what’s going on either.”

“There’s no way that’s true!”

“I’m serious, Kunichika.”

As Kyousuke and Kunichika exchanged words, Rindou intervened.

“Right after we collected the dungeon core, we were the only ones who got teleported here in a way that wasn’t normal.”

“What do you mean? Didn’t we finish dealing with the double gate?”

“We thought so, but… what’s going on? The orb… is it moving?”

Rindou noticed that the gem in his hand was starting to shake. He opened his hand.

“Whoa!”

Then, the gems flew toward each person in front of them, one by one.

“…I got the red one?”

“…I got the blue one.”

“Black for me.”

“Huh? What’s this yellow gem?”

Kyousuke ended up with the red gem, Ayane got the blue one, Kageboshi got the black one, Kunichika got the yellow one, and Rindou…

“The rainbow-colored orb…….. What’s going on here?”

Five gems, five players.

“Could it be that each of us represents a color?”

“But Rindou, even if the colors are a thing, do they have anything to do with us?”

“Red, red… I’m not sure.”

“I understand.”

“So do I.”

While Rindou, Ayane, and Kyousuke tilted their heads in confusion, Kageboshi and Kunichika had figured out the connection between the colors.

“W-What?!”

“What’s going on, Kageboshi?!”

“Did Kunichika figure it out too?”

“Well, it’s just a guess, but…”

“A guess? It’s probably confirmed. These colors must represent skills.”

At Kunichika’s explanation, everyone stared at the gem hovering in front of them.

(The rainbow-colored gem represents a skill… What does that mean? My skill is [Gacha], but I’ve earned a lot of other things. So does that mean the rainbow color is because of that?)

Rindou’s skill, [Gacha], was an outlier skill.

Skills are usually granted when a player awakens. And most players only have one or two skills. Very few players possess more than that. Moreover, it was unheard of to acquire new skills later on.

With that in mind, the connection between Kageboshi’s [Shadow Magic] skill and the black gem was easy to understand. But what about the others?

Kyousuke’s skill, [Battle Spirit], could perhaps be represented by the red color. It was a combat-focused skill, so the red color made sense in that context.

Ayane had two skills: [Group Command] and [Fūrinkazan]. When it comes to the color blue, [Wind] is the first thing that comes to mind.

But could just one of the effects of a multiple-skill set be represented by a single color?

Thinking about it, it seemed likely that Ayane’s gem was reacting to [Group Command] rather than [Fūrinkazan].

“What about Kunichika’s skill? Does it relate to the yellow color?”

“I told you, my skill is [Shrink]. There’s no way it has anything to do with color.”

“Then what…….. Could it be Voltenix?”

Rindou was surprised at the possibility that Kunichika’s weapon skill might be involved. He saw Kunichika nod while staring at Voltenix.

“Thunder has a strong association with yellow, right? And look, look at the door.”

As Kunichika shifted his focus from the orb to the door, Rindou and the others turned their gaze toward the bright white door.

“…The color’s changed!”

“We probably have to go through the door of our respective colors. Seriously, is there more to this? How annoying.”

While Kunichika scratched his head and grumbled, He noticed Rindou was staring at him.

“…What is it?”

“I thought you were a scary guy at first, but you’ve been analyzing things calmly and worrying about Kyousuke… Turns out you’re actually a really good guy!”

“Huh? Who the hell said I was worried about that guy? Don’t joke around!”

“No, I mean, you talked to him—”

“Don’t say that in front of the guy, rookie!”

As Rindou said it without thinking, Kunichika blushed and shouted angrily.

“I also wanted to have a proper conversation with Kunichika. Once we get out of here, let’s make some time to talk.”

“…Tch. Fine, I’ll listen to you. I’ll go through the yellow door now.”

Looking a bit uncomfortable, Kunichika scratched his head and walked off with big strides.

“Well then, I’ll take the red door.”

“I’ll go through the blue one.”

“Black for me.”

Each person walked toward the door of the same color as their gem.

Rindou, too, moved toward the rainbow-colored door.

“…Now then, will a snake or a demon appear?”

After taking a deep breath, Rindou looked around at everyone. It wasn’t just Rindou—everyone took the same action.

Each of them nodded at each other whenever their gazes met, confirming their collective will.

“Let’s go!”

And with Rindou’s shout, each of them opened their respective doors.
