My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 133: Kunichika’s True Potential?
Episode 133: Kunichika’s True Potential?
“—…Alright, that should cover it for now.”
After hearing Rindou and the others’ report, Kenji organized the documents and exhaled deeply.
“Did this help you?”
“Of course. Especially the part about skills—it could bring hope to veteran players who feel stuck.”
Thinking about how to use the skills they’ve acquired and putting that into practice is something any player can do. However, once they refine their skill usage to a certain extent, many hit a plateau. They were unable to progress further. This phenomenon is especially noticeable among veteran players. It left many feeling stagnant. If this report could offer hope to those players, Rindou thought it had been highly meaningful.
“But still, what was that room in the end?”
“And why were we the only ones allowed to enter? We don’t understand that either.”
“Ah? That’s obvious if you think about it a little.”
Kunichika’s calm analysis caught Ayane and Kyousuke’s attention. And they turned to look at him.
“…Really?”
“Kunichika, you’ve figured something out?”
“I can’t believe Kyousuke hasn’t realized it. …Oh, I see. Since we entered later after Rindou…….. it makes sense we didn’t notice at first.”
After coming to some sort of conclusion on his own, Kunichika began explaining the commonality among the five who had entered the pure white room.
“This is just my guess. But I think the five of us who were allowed into that room were likely the top five contributors during the gate’s conquest.”
“Top five contributors? Then what about you, Kunichika Igari?”
It was Kageboshi who questioned Kunichika’s theory.
“From what I’ve heard, you got hit by Beelzebub’s poison shortly after entering the double gate and couldn’t move, right? How could someone like that be considered a top contributor?”
“True, in my case, what the shadowy woman over there says is accurate.”
“Sh-Shadowy woman?!”
Although Kageboshi raised her voice in anger at being called such, Kunichika paid no attention and continued talking.
“Well, for me, it’s probably more about the advice I gave to Rindou than my actual performance in the battle.”
“…You mean the part about player experience?”
One of Beelzebub’s poison traits was that it was particularly effective on players with longer play histories. However, whether that alone could place someone in the top five contributors was questionable. And Kunichika couldn’t confidently claim he had excelled.
“And there’s also this. You used it, didn’t you, Rindou?”
As Kunichika spoke, he held up the contracted Voltenix.
“This weapon belongs to me. If using it helped corner Beelzebub, then maybe that counts as my contribution. But, well, this is all just my speculation.”
Even as Kunichika repeated that this was just his guess, Rindou nodded in agreement.
“That does sound like a strong possibility.”
“Rindou Amachi, are you serious?”
“Yeah. Besides, it’s not just what Kunichika mentioned. Even before entering the double gate, his contributions to the battle were impressive. So, yes, I think Kunichika played a significant role in conquering this gate.”
“…Tch. You really throw me off, you know that?”
It was one thing to praise himself for his actions. But it was a whole other level of embarrassment to have a comrade endorse his performance so thoroughly. Kunichika couldn’t help but feel flustered.
“I see. But if that’s true, we might see more players pushing themselves too hard,”
Kenji noted, expressing a concern. But Rindou responded.
“But Branch Manager, entering the double gate doesn’t guarantee access to the skill room.”
“I know. After all, the star-5 double gate didn’t have a skill room.”
The star-5 double gate that Rindou’s team had previously conquered did not reveal a skill room. Kenji believed that unless they could determine what conditions led to the skill room appearing—or if it was unique to the star-4 gates—announcing it to the public would be premature.
“Thanks for reporting back so quickly after the conquest. The rewards will be distributed later, so take it easy and rest today.”
With Kenji’s closing words, the group stood up together and started walking toward the door.
“By the way, Rindou-san. How’s Kyouka-chan doing?
“I was wondering about that too. Is she alright?”
Ayane and Kyousuke asked out of concern.
“Ah… Yeah, she’s stable now.”
While his response reassured them, Ayane and Kyousuke couldn’t help but feel a hint of hesitation in his words. With some unease, they nodded and left the branch manager’s office.
