Episode 137: Kyouka’s Player Registration

Two days after the date with Kyouka. Rindou took his sister to the Player Association.

Today, he planned to register Kyouka as a player.

“Ah? Amachi-sama, are you alone today?” 

As soon as Rindou arrived, Aoba greeted him.

“No, I’m with my sister.” 

Rindou introduced Kyouka, who nervously greeted Aoba.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Aoba Yanase, the receptionist, and Amachi-sama’s personal receptionist.” 

“Huh? When did you become my personal receptionist?” 

Rindou asked with a puzzled look. He was surprised by her unexpected statement.

“I just took it upon myself to say that! Please don’t mind it!” 

“Well, I think I do mind.” 

“But still, I’ve been the one handling your extraordinary achievements over and over. Wouldn’t it be better than someone else handling it and always being shocked by it?”

Aoba said this with a cheerful tone. And Rindou couldn’t help but agree.

“Well, setting that aside, today I want to register my sister as a player.” 

“Huh? Did your sister awaken as a Player too?” 

“Y-yes.”

Aoba voiced her surprise. Kyouka apologized in response.

“Oh, please don’t worry about it. Many people have family members who are players, after all.” 

“Then why were you so surprised?” 

Rindou asked, thinking it wasn’t that uncommon.

“Ah… I was just surprised thinking she might become someone extraordinary like Amachi-sama.” 

“Does that mean you’re complimenting me? Or insulting me?” 

“I’m complimenting you! Of course!”

Rindou was feeling a bit like he was being made fun of. He was giving Aoba the side-eye. She quickly began to clarify that she was indeed complimenting him.

“Anyway, the player registration for your sister, right? Here’s the paperwork, please fill it out.” 

Aoba placed the documents on the counter. Kyouka then started filling them out while eyeing them carefully.

“Is today just for the registration?” 

“That’s the plan. For Kyouka’s first outing, Kyousuke and Ayane will be joining us.” 

“Wow… what an extravagant lineup!” 

“Do you have a problem with that?” 

“No, no, not at all.” 

Aoba’s tone made Rindou suspicious. But considering the lineup’s strength and the fact that Kyouka was a new player, he decided not to press further.

“……..Done!” 

“Thank you.”

With Kyouka finishing, she looked up. The conversation ended as Aoba moved on to process the documents.

“Hey, Onii-chan.” 

“Hm? What’s up?”

With Aoba leaving the counter, Kyouka spoke up.

“Are you on Ayane-san’s side? Or are you on the Receptionist-san’s side?” 

“…Sorry, what kind of conversation is this?” 

Rindou tilted his head. He was confused by her sudden question.

“Well, I just thought you’re really popular.” 

“Me? Really?” 

“Ugh… you really are clueless, aren’t you?” 

Kyouka shrugged, looking exasperated. And Rindou became even more confused.

“Kyouka, what exactly are you saying—” 

“Thank you for waiting. Amachi-sama… I mean, Kyouka-sama. It’s time for your rank assessment. Would you like Rindou-sama to observe as well?” 

Noticing both of them, Aoba corrected herself. Rindou nodded.

“I guess so, since there was Ayane observing me when I did mine.” 

“Really, Onii-chan?” 

“Yeah. I allowed her to observe because I wanted a senior adventurer to do it. If Kyouka doesn’t want it, I can stop it, though.” 

“No, I want you to watch… I think it might be better that way.” 

“Uh… okay, I got it.”

Rindou noticed Kyouka’s hesitation but didn’t press further. They followed Aoba’s lead down to the training room on the third basement floor.

Although Rindou didn’t want Kyouka to become a player, part of him was curious about the kind of skills she would receive. Regardless of what skills she gained, he silently vowed to protect her, no matter what.
