Episode 138: Kyouka’s Strength

After moving to the third basement floor, Kyouka headed to the training room. While Rindou and Aoba went to the management room of the training area.

It was Rindou’s first time in the management room. But from this slightly elevated position, he had a good view of the training room. Which would allow him to keep an eye on Kyouka’s movements.

“Kyouka-sama will now engage in multiple battles with simulated monsters,” 

Aoba explained, a speech she had already given to Rindou. Kyouka was standing in the training room. She nodded enthusiastically.

“The simulated monsters will attack. But don’t worry, they won’t be lethal.”

“However, that doesn’t mean you won’t get injured. Be careful while fighting.” 

Rindou gave Kyouka the same advice Ayane had given him.

Kyouka had been nervous. But at the sound of Rindou’s voice, she seemed to relax slightly.

“We’ll start with a Goblin.”

With the next steps left to Aoba, Rindou focused on watching Kyouka. A mannequin transformed into the shape of a Goblin and soon charged toward Kyouka.

Kyouka was unarmed. Rindou watched, anxiously wondering how she would defend herself.

‘…….[Ice Bullet]!’ 

Kyouka’s voice echoed from the speaker. And at the same time, a bullet of ice formed and shot toward the Goblin, piercing it. 

It happened so quickly that both Rindou and Aoba stared in disbelief.

“…Magic-type?” 

Rindou muttered, still surprised.

“Next up is a Wild Wolf.” 

Aoba quickly stated as the mannequin transformed again and charged toward Kyouka.

Once again, Kyouka used a single [Ice Bullet] to defeat it with ease. It left both Rindou and Aoba astonished by her strength.

“Next is—” 

In this way, Kyouka continued defeating the Ghost Knight and the Sword Wolf. She eventually faced the Killer Panther in the fifth match.

(This was the same opponent I lost to back then. I’m confident I wouldn’t lose now, but I wonder how Kyouka will do…) 

Rindou thought, feeling a small bit of tension as he observed.

Then, an unexpected development unfolded in the training room.

‘…[Boost].’

““—!?””

As the Killer Panther began to sprint, Kyouka activated a second skill, chasing after it.

“W-Wait, a double skill!?” 

Kyouka was now in pursuit of the Killer Panther that had been circling the room. She quickly closed the gap, creating a sword of ice. With a swift strike, she decapitated the Killer Panther.

“…Branch Manager!” 

Shortly after, Aoba shouted, her voice trembling. She immediately started to contact someone through the internal phone.

Rindou assumed she was reaching out to Kenji. And he gave a wry smile as he looked at Kyouka in the training room.

(I never expected her to have a double skill. When she asked me to watch, I guess this was what she meant…)

As Rindou pondered this, Aoba finished her call and spoke into the microphone.

“Excuse me, Kyouka-sama. Would you mind waiting for a moment?”

Kyouka raised her hand, signaling that she understood. Shortly after, Kenji appeared in the management room.

“Good grief, Player Amachi is always doing things like this.” 

“This time, it’s not me, but my sister.” 

“Close enough. Well, I’m happy to see such a talented player emerging.”

With a grin, Kenji made a suggestion.

“We could continue having the mannequins fight her, but… how about you step in, Player Amachi? Would you like to spar with your sister?”

“…Me?” 

Rindou asked, surprised by the unexpected proposal.

“Yeah. I could spar with her, but I might go too far. That would be troublesome for you later.”

Rindou thought about it and realized that he probably couldn’t stay calm either. So he reluctantly agreed.

“…Alright, I’ll head to the training room then.”

“Make sure you go easy on her.”

“Go easy? Well, I’ll try,” 

Rindou replied, shaking his head as he left the management room.

Rindou was truly impressed by Kyouka’s skills. Watching her perform, he couldn’t help but wonder if he would have been able to do what she just did back when he was still newly awakened. Her abilities were truly remarkable.

“…But, as her big brother, I can’t lose. I have to show some authority,” 

Rindou thought, mentally preparing himself.

With determination, he opened the door to the training room.
