After destroying the core of the star-3 gate, Rindou and his team returned to the surface. 

However, they immediately sensed an ominous presence. It prompted them to heighten their vigilance and survey their surroundings. 

“What’s wrong, Onii-chan?” 

Kyouka alone remained relaxed. She was looking at Rindou, Kyousuke, and Ayane’s tense expressions with some confusion.

“What do you think, Kyousuke, Ayane?” 

“…This isn’t looking good.”

“I feel the same.”

Normally, drawing weapons on the surface was strictly prohibited. 

But in situations of imminent danger, exceptions could be made. 

“Huh?! Onii-chan, and you two as well!” 

Rindou and the others drew their swords, preparing for the worst.

Appearing before them was none other than the man Rindou was most wary of—Misaki Kuga.

Kyouka shouted, backing him up. 

Misaki, however, didn’t seem bothered by their words at all. 

“Don’t trouble yourselves. Your opinions mean nothing to me.” 

“…So you’re planning to take her by force?” 

“Surely, you’ve heard from Kenji what kind of man I am, haven’t you? Hahaha!” 

Misaki’s true nature surfaced as he laughed menacingly. He spread his arms wide. At the same time, the other presence they’d felt revealed itself.

“What the?! You’re insane!” 

The creature that appeared resembled a reptilian monster. Its skin had blended with the surroundings, making it appear as if it had suddenly materialized.

Rindou, Kyousuke, Ayane, and Kyouka each reacted in turn.

As Misaki laughed maniacally, his crazed demeanor reflected clearly in their eyes.

Hearing Misaki’s words, Rindou whirled around. 

A second Chimera had appeared behind Kyouka, grabbing her arm. Panic surged as Rindou saw the scene unfold.

“I’ve taken your precious little sister, Rindou Amachi!”

The chimera holding Kyouka suddenly had its arm severed. 

Misaki couldn’t comprehend what had happened. But as Rindou turned to the direction of the slash, he smiled and shouted.

Kyouka was saved by the timely intervention of Kagesuzu. She escaped danger. With Kageboshi now among them, the four formed a defensive formation around her.
