A monster filled with intense hatred toward humans let out a cry of triumph. 

“The time is ripe! Now, I will destroy the seal on the gate and free myself and my kin!” 

Rising with its massive body and flapping enormous wings, the monster of hatred soared into the sky. 

Below it, countless other monsters followed in its wake. 

“You, Misaki Kuga , will die by my hand! And humans… will be eradicated!” 

With rage blazing in its eyes, the monster of hatred began moving in secret, unnoticed by anyone.

“What a troublesome bunch!” 

Misaki spat in anger. He was cursing as he unleashed even more hidden Chimeras to attack Rindou and his team. 

“Where did you even get this many Chimeras?!” 

“From the lab, obviously!” 

When Rindou voiced his frustration over the sheer number—easily exceeding ten—Kageboshi responded as if it were self-evident. 

“Even if you brought them in secretly, there are way too many!” 

“What is this guy even thinking?!” 

Kyousuke and Ayane shouted in confusion while slashing through the attacking Chimeras. 

In terms of numbers, Misaki clearly had the upper hand. However, when it came to actual combat experience, Rindou and his team held the advantage. 

Though Chimeras originated as monsters, their transformation process seemed to have disrupted their instincts. Their movements were clumsy, a detail that Rindou’s team quickly picked up on—something Misaki, a researcher with no battlefield experience, couldn’t notice. 

At first, Rindou’s group was on the back foot. But as the battle wore on, they gradually began to turn the tide. 

“I’ll help too!” 

Regaining her composure, Kyouka joined in to support the team. It solidified their advantage in the battle. 

“Don’t mess with me! If my research succeeds, humanity will evolve in leaps and bounds! And yet, you dare interfere?!” 

Having relied solely on his Chimeras until now, Misaki finally activated his own skill for the first time. 

“This guy’s a player too?!” 

“If you thought I was just a researcher, you’re in for a rude awakening!” 

With those words, Misaki pulled out a medical scalpel. 

As Rindou’s team continued to cut down Chimeras, watching him warily, Misaki began an unexpected move. 

“Awaken! My new Chimera!” 

“Kishaaaaa!” 

“Gyaaaaa!” 

“Bebobebaah!” 

Using his skill, Misaki slashed three approaching Chimeras with the scalpel. To everyone’s horror, the three Chimeras fused before their eyes. They formed into one grotesque creature. 

The sight was so gruesome that even Kyouka and Ayane averted their eyes, while Rindou and Kyousuke turned pale. 

“Is this guy even human?” 

“At this point, I have to wonder if he has a human heart at all.”

The newly born Chimera stood over four meters tall, humanoid in form. Its body was composed of mineral-like skin, with arms and legs resembling those of a giant. And large bird-like wings were protruding from its back. 

If such a massive creature were to take to the skies, even Rindou’s team would struggle to handle it—it was an undeniable threat. 

“We’ll take it down in one go!” 

“Do you think I’ll let you?!” 

Rindou’s team moved in to finish it off before it could take flight. But a swarm of Chimeras blocked their path. 

Meanwhile, the giant Chimera flapped its wings and ascended into the sky. 

——BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!! 

Suddenly, a massive explosion echoed from a completely different location. 

The sound was so loud that Rindou’s team instinctively turned their gaze toward it. 

“What the hell… is that?!” 

What they saw was a pillar of fire, rising from the ground and piercing high into the sky.
