After all, right in front of them were Chimeras trying to kill them. It was all because of Misaki.

Even Misaki, upon seeing the pillar of fire, couldn’t hide his confusion.

Somewhere deep inside, Rindou had thought that Misaki might have done something to abduct Kyouka. But that wasn’t the case.

The same flame that had pierced the sky earlier now surged forth.

The fire turned the sky crimson. It struck the massive Chimera that had been flapping its wings.

“N-No way…!?”

The one who let out a voice of shock was Misaki.

The massive Chimera’s upper body disintegrated from the sudden burst of flames. And its lower half fell to the ground with a tremendous shock. It caused the earth to tremble as sand flew into the air.

The smell of burning flesh filled the surroundings. It made Rindou and the others grimace. 

However, it was Misaki who was most shocked.

His carefully prepared skill, which he had used to create the enormous Chimera, had been undone by the intervention of a third party.

At Rindou’s command, Kyousuke, Ayane, and Kageboshi immediately responded. While Kyouka followed suit, albeit a little slower.

Misaki tried to resist by using the remaining Chimeras. But he was startled as the ground suddenly froze.

“I’ll help too! I won’t leave you all to do it alone!”

Kyouka froze the remaining Chimera’s feet, stealing its mobility.

In that moment, Ayane, Kyousuke, and Kageboshi leapt in and began to cut down the Chimeras.

“A-Aahhh! My Chimeras… my research… nooooo!”

Misaki was witnessing his Chimeras being slaughtered right before his eyes. He began to go into a frenzy.

“I don’t have time to deal with you!”

Just then, a voice rang out.

“A-Aaaahh! Rindou Amachiiiiiiiiii!?” 

“Sorry, but I’m finishing this, Misaki Kuga!”

While Misaki’s attention was diverted to Kyouka and the others, Rindou had concealed his presence. He was closing in from behind.

However, Rindou had no intention of killing Misaki.

(I can’t kill someone in front of Kyouka. I’ll knock him out and hand him over to the Branch Manager.)

Rindou didn’t want to lose his humanity. This had been a constant thought ever since he was forced to kill his classmate, Gakuto Oze, who had tried to kill him when Rindou first became a player. 

Moreover, he didn’t want Kyouka to witness anyone dying.

With the current battle situation, he figured it would be easy to subdue Misaki—but that wasn’t the case.

The same massive flame that had destroyed the Chimera earlier now descended from the sky. It targeted both Rindou and Misaki.

“Onii-chan!”  “Rindou-kun!”  “Rindou-san!”  “Rindou Amachi!”

Everyone present witnessed the gigantic flame and called out Rindou’s name.

Rindou quickly leaped back. He instantly formed a defensive posture with Kyouka and the others.
