My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 30
Older sister is fine, younger sister is fine too.
“What kind of wild and reckless words are these?!”
Lin Lang stared at Gu Qingci in disbelief, so shocked she was at a loss for words.
“Miss, you’ve changed! This is outrageously bold!”
Seeing Lin Lang’s dazed expression, her stunned and slack-jawed reaction, Gu Qingci’s eyes sparkled with a sense of mischievous triumph.
“Hmph, you’re not the only one who can say suggestive things. I can do it too!”
The two of them locked eyes in silence, unspoken currents surging between them.
After a long moment of quiet, Lin Lang licked her lips and suddenly smiled. Lowering her voice, she gazed at Gu Qingci with an intense, predatory look, letting her eyes trail inch by inch over Gu Qingci’s body. “So, does stealing your sister’s girlfriend feel particularly thrilling, hmm?”
Under Lin Lang’s gaze, Gu Qingci’s body reacted before her mind did, much to her shame.
To her, Lin Lang’s eyes felt like hooks, silently stripping away her clothing and leaving her vulnerable to Lin Lang’s whims.
D*mn it, how is Lin Lang this good at this?
She needed to learn!
For a moment, Gu Qingci’s scholarly spirit ignited at the worst possible time.
But, lagging in her “studies,” Gu Qingci ultimately lost this round. Overwhelmed and blushing furiously from Lin Lang’s teasing, she had no choice but to flee under the righteous excuse of catching up on her thesis.
Being dependable, she washed her face to calm down, regained her composure, and even remembered to video call her mom to talk about Lin Lang’s situation.
Gu Minglan agreed immediately but seemed a bit surprised. “What’s going on with He Jikai? Has he taken an interest in Lin Lang?”
She didn’t know much and wasn’t as worried as Gu Qingci and Lin Lang were—just a bit puzzled.
In her opinion, wasn’t this just some young guy fancying someone good-looking? It was only the past interactions between the two parties involved that made her feel there was something subtly intriguing about it all.
In this regard, she shared a sentiment with Lin Lang’s group of buddies: to still pursue someone after being beaten to a pulp by them? Either they had ulterior motives or were a bit unhinged.
After agreeing to take care of the matter, she casually asked her daughter how she had been doing lately.
As Gu Qingci obediently answered each question, she carefully examined her daughter from head to toe. She noted with satisfaction the glowing complexion, the rosy tint on her fair cheeks, and her vibrant energy. “You mentioned rushing to finish your progress and applying for early graduation. I was worried you might overwork yourself and neglect your health, but it seems like you’re doing just fine.”
Gu Qingci, feeling a little guilty, stuck out her tongue playfully and relied on her cuteness to bluff her way through.
She couldn’t exactly say that her good spirits were the result of being teased by Lin Lang, could she?
Naturally, Gu Minglan took her daughter’s concerns to heart. Not long after, she subtly passed on the news about He Jikai pursuing Lin Lang. Along the way, she even guided He Zhiyuan to speculate that this was all with the approval—or even at the behest—of his older brother, He Weimin.
Whether this was true or not, she wasn’t about to concern herself with it!
The goal was to make the story sound as strange as possible. If it wasn’t intriguing enough, how would it capture He Zhiyuan’s attention or arouse his suspicion?
Without added context, the story of a young, handsome, and wealthy third-generation heir chasing after a pretty girl seemed so ordinary that no one would care.
People would think, “Eh, what’s the big deal? A rich kid chasing a pretty girl—hardly gossip-worthy!” It would be something they’d hear in passing and immediately forget. Who would bother to spread or dig deeper into such a mundane story?
But if the pursuit came with parental approval—or worse, was instigated by the parents—of a girl who, aside from her looks, had no particularly remarkable background, now that was interesting.
What made this girl so special? Was she encrusted with diamonds, able to turn stones into gold, or did she have some mysterious, hidden background?
Once this kind of rumor was released, there was no need to investigate personally. Whispers about why the He family would be so interested in such a girl would flow back through various channels.
With so many people in the same social circle quietly watching, some valuable information was bound to surface. And even if nothing turned up, the He family wouldn’t be able to easily pull off anything underhanded unnoticed.
How perfect was that!
Lin Lang spent some time in Rong City, and before returning to Jing City, she made sure to drop off her soon-to-be senior high schooler at school for early classes and attended her parent-teacher conference.
Being seven years older than Lin Yao and with unreliable parents, Lin Lang had taken over attending Lin Yao’s parent-teacher conferences since her university days.
This year was different. Since Lin Lang had been spending more time in Jing City, she had asked her friends to attend Lin Yao’s parent-teacher conferences on her behalf.
Ever since the “if the elder sister can, then so can the younger sister” incident, Lin Lang had felt a subtle awkwardness whenever she saw her younger sister.
At seventeen, Lin Yao was in the sweetest and most innocent phase of her life. Skipping ahead of Lin Lang, she chirped, “Sis, do you think I should aim for Huada University?”
Lin Lang looked at her little “rival,” who gazed back at her with pure trust and naivety.
She thought to herself, Great, I’m losing already!
Is she really going to become Gu Qingci’s future classmate?!
But since Lin Yao was her sister, she couldn’t sabotage her. After a moment of contemplation, Lin Lang sincerely replied, “I wouldn’t know if it’s a good idea. I couldn’t get in myself.”
Lin Yao burst into laughter, tilting her head upward. “I know! Your current boss graduated from Huada University, right?”
Lin Yao had recently won a fairly prestigious competition award that qualified her for Huada University’s score reduction admission policy. As long as she met the minimum score for top-tier universities, she’d be admitted.
At this confident and slightly cocky stage, the young girl solemnly promised her devious sister, “Sis, once I get into Huada University and graduate, I’ll start a company, and you can work for me as my employee!”
Lin Lang: “…”
She thought, this sister is beyond saving!
Other people’s little sisters say things like, “When I grow up, I’ll earn money to take care of you.”
Her own sister? “When I grow up, I’ll be your boss!”
Wow, thank you so much. But no thanks, I don’t need it. I’m already my own boss.
Come to think of it, in her dream, wasn’t Gu Qingci Lin Yao’s boss?
Remembering Gu Qingci’s dangerous remarks about “sisters,” Lin Lang decided it was necessary to nip this possibility in the bud.
Convincing Lin Yao of things was far easier than teasing Gu Qingci. It wasn’t even a challenge.
“Well, study hard and aim to get into Huada University. If you want to start your own business, you can begin planning and researching once you’re in college,” Lin Lang said encouragingly.
She added, “Though it’s quite costly. But nowadays, aren’t there a lot of policies supporting startups? Things like incubators, angel investments, and venture capital…”
Lin Yao stared at her in a daze, completely taken in by the talk.
Then, her cunning sister added, “If none of those work out, just sell your apartment and use that as your startup capital. It should fetch over two million, which will be more than enough!”
Lin Yao: “…”
My sister is so heartless! She never even considers lending a hand!
Deciding not to entertain this money-centric conversation any further—especially since she hadn’t even been admitted yet—Lin Yao shifted the topic back to whether or not she should aim for Huada University.
“Sis, are you going to stay in Jing City most of the time from now on?”
Lin Lang thought for a moment. “Probably, for the most part.”
This, of course, depended on Gu Qingci.
Lin Yao made her decision quickly. “Then I’ll apply to Huada University!”
She simply wanted to stay close to her sister, no matter how heartless she might be.
“Alright then,” Lin Lang said, ruffling Lin Yao’s hair. “Just keep your distance from them so they don’t drag you down or cause trouble.”
Both sisters understood that “them” referred to their parents and their brother, Lin Wei.
Lin Yao had been harboring a question for some time and finally decided to ask. “Sis, I remember you used to be strict with our brother. Why did you stop caring after a while?”
As a child, Lin Yao had believed that the three of them—siblings—were united, relying on each other. But over time, she realized that wasn’t the case. Her sister’s change in attitude toward Lin Wei and their parents’ blatant favoritism during the property split had shattered her childhood illusion.
Lin Lang’s response was blunt and indifferent. “I cared about him before he turned eighteen to ensure he wouldn’t become a burden to me.”
She didn’t want him turning out like their deadbeat father, so she ensured he developed the basic skills needed to stand on his own two feet in society. Beyond that, she didn’t care.
Seventeen-year-old Lin Yao looked uneasy, her lips trembling. “What about me?”
Will she stop caring about me once I turn eighteen too?
Lin Lang gave her a baffled look. “Isn’t everything already set up? There’s ten thousand saved for your college tuition. The rental income from your apartment is two thousand five hundred a month—enough for your living expenses.”
That apartment, allocated during the family property division, had been secured with Lin Lang’s fists in a heated argument with their father.
Lin Yao’s eyes reddened, and she nervously tugged at her shirt. “That’s not what I meant.” Taking a deep breath, she mustered the courage to meet Lin Lang’s gaze. “You’re my sister. I just want you to always care about me and not abandon me. I want to go to Huada University because I think I can get in—and because you’re in Jing City.”
“Of course, I won’t abandon you,” Lin Lang said softly as she hugged her little sister. Lin Yao was the only glimmer of hope in their family. Just for her unwavering determination to stand up for her, Lin Lang couldn’t deny this sister even if she wanted to.
“I’m just not a fan of trouble, but you’re your sister’s pride and joy.”
Lin Lang’s skills in comforting others had been well-honed through her interactions with Gu Qingci. Within moments, Lin Yao was grinning through her tears.
If the first half of the year had been filled with one misfortune after another, the latter half could only be described as a streak of good fortune.
First, the lease on Lin Lang’s spacious flat came to an end. She arranged for professional cleaning services to do a deep clean, ensuring even the dust on the crystal chandelier was wiped spotless.
Next, she had specialists inspect the plumbing, electrical wiring, heating systems, and other utilities. Any potential hazards were fixed immediately—better to deal with it now than after moving back in, which would have been far more troublesome.
Then came the replacement and maintenance of the hardwood floors, wallpaper updates, furniture upgrades, and the full renovation of the master bathroom—especially the bathtub.
Gu Qingci had initially thought Lin Lang planned to replace the bathtub with an identical model, a straightforward swap of the old for the new. She hadn’t anticipated Lin Lang sending her over a dozen pictures of designer bathtubs, asking which one she liked best.
Gu Qingci, always honest, picked a heart-shaped design. It was stylish, spacious, and—most importantly—big enough for two people to… comfortably share.
October brought breakthroughs at the EF8 Independent Lab, overseen by Yuan Ying. A newly developed project had passed validations and showed promising results. If they pushed forward, the final adjustments could be completed by year’s end, readying the product for production testing.
In November, Gu Qingci’s dissertation was nearing its final draft. All that remained was the meticulous work of refining it.
With her dissertation almost complete, Gu Qingci found herself with much more free time. This meant she could spend hours video chatting with Lin Lang, helping choose new wallpaper, furniture, bedding, and other household items. She even went the extra mile, resorting to playful pleading and sweet coaxing to convince Lin Lang to install a swing on the terrace.
Gu Qingci adored the process of decorating their home together. It was a tangible expression of their shared love and brought a deep sense of belonging. Wrapped in happiness and love, her heart felt light and carefree, as though floating on clouds.
That said, there were moments when she wished Lin Lang would tone down her cheeky remarks during this blissful, romantic journey.
Not that she really minded, though.
