My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 51
Lin San didn’t dare to utter a word.
In the end, it was Yang Ting who “saved” her — though the words weren’t exactly flattering.
“Lin San? Forget it. That kind of ‘I’m the most badass person under heaven’ attitude, only Sister Qingci can handle it.”
Gu Qingci’s interest was immediately piqued. She shifted her gaze from Lin Lang and, with a playful smirk, asked, “Oh? How so?”
Everyone exchanged a “where do I even begin” look.
Well… How should they put it? Maybe Lin Lang was just born with a face that screamed “mockery”?
With Gu Qingci backing them up, everyone got bolder. Searching their memories, they began talking over one another.
“Back in junior high, we were all at the town’s middle school, right? Lin Lang was a top student, and we were hopeless slackers. Sometimes, we’d ask her for help.”
“She was polite about it, explaining each step slowly and carefully. But if you didn’t get it the first time and had to ask again, she’d give you this… very complicated look.”
“She would still explain it all again, patiently even! But how to say it… her silence was more D*mning than any words. You could just feel her whole aura screaming, ‘Are you stupid?’”
Lin Lang immediately defended herself, “I never thought that! I didn’t!”
Everyone humored her with exaggerated nods, “Of course, of course, you didn’t. It’s totally our overthinking.”
But who didn’t know? Even in college, one of her roommates once dramatically severed ties with her, crying that Lin Lang looked down on her. Meanwhile, Lin Lang was completely clueless, wondering how on earth she had given off that impression.
Clearly, her “born-to-mock” face was the real deal!
Which was why — only someone like Gu Qingci, a true academic monster even more terrifying than Lin Lang, could deal with her. Gu Qingci’s ego was untouchable; she wouldn’t crumble under Lin Lang’s unintentional “superiority complex.”
Lin Lang had no chance of winning against a group effort. Even Gu Qingci stopped her, saying, “Hush. I’m enjoying this.”
Lin Lang: …
Fine. Girlfriend reigns supreme.
If she dared to spoil the fun now, she’d probably be banned from the bed tonight!
As the conversation flowed, it somehow drifted toward how “popular” Lin Lang used to be.
Yang Ting, completely tipsy, threw her head back in laughter and announced, “Don’t you dare deny it! Back in our cringey teenage years, when we were randomly calling each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife,’ who didn’t want to call Lin San either one?!”
The table fell into awkward silence.
Boys, girls, it didn’t matter — everyone shared that same guilty, embarrassed silence.
Only Gu Qingci was looking at Lin Lang with a teasing smile, as if discovering a juicy secret: so you were the town’s sweetheart, huh?
Lin Lang scratched her head awkwardly, toes curling into the floor in mortification.
After a while, someone cleared their throat and tried to save face, mumbling, “Well, you know, we were young and stupid.”
Who could blame them? Lin San was just that good-looking.
Teenagers were shallow — all about appearances!
Besides, at that time, none of them had yet experienced Lin Lang’s iron fists. They were still bewitched by that angelic face, letting their imaginations run wild.
To defuse the awkwardness, someone quickly changed the subject — by throwing an even bigger bomb.
“Remember that guy — that wannabe delinquent? Didn’t he have a thing for someone in our class? Used to block the doors after school with his gang.”
Someone picked up the thread, perfectly in sync: “Yeah! But the moment he saw Lin San, it was love at first sight. He immediately switched targets and started pestering her instead!”
Shang Shu burst out laughing, pounding the table. “That dumbass even tried to wall-slam her like some wannabe CEO!”
Qi Miao added in a deadpan voice, “And then Lin San chased him down the whole corridor.”
If the teachers hadn’t arrived just in time, who knows how far down the corridor Lin Lang would’ve dragged him?
Gu Qingci was having the time of her life listening, even egging them on, “And then? What happened next?”
Naturally, Lin Lang ascended — and became the new school tyrant!
Even more hilariously, because of that glorious beatdown, and thanks to her usual calm, good-student exterior, Lin Lang’s “business” started booming.
“It all started with that poor girl the former delinquent was harassing. She came to Lin San herself, offering protection money to keep the bullies away.”
“And then, more kids — the weak but rich ones — came flocking to her, begging to pay protection fees too.”
They all sighed dramatically, “Thinking about it now, Lin San was basically leading us into the world of business back then!”
At that time, their town was still underdeveloped. Most of the able-bodied adults had left for work in the cities, leaving kids behind with their grandparents. Money wasn’t a problem, but unsupervised kids were easy targets for bullying and extortion.
After Lin Lang rose to power, paying the “big boss” became a safer option than dealing with endless waves of bullies.
The only time Lin Lang got busy was during the rare two-day weekends, when she would personally escort those who paid her safely home, ensuring they didn’t get ambushed on the way.
At those times, her “crew” — meaning them — would finally be useful.
Someone sighed again, “Thanks to those little businesses — and sometimes commissions from side gigs — Lin San was able to afford middle school and high school.”
Back then, the education level in their town’s middle school was abysmal. Out of nearly 500 students, barely a handful would make it to a top high school.
Lin Lang, with her brains and fierce drive, was the only one from their group who made it to a prestigious high school.
Everyone else either coasted through a no-hope regular high school or shuffled into vocational schools.
College? Only Lin Lang got into a local top-tier university. The rest barely scraped by into private colleges.
Someone like Lei Lei, who got into a decent public university through hard work, was already considered a success!
If Lin Lang hadn’t remembered them after starting her own company and dragged them along to make money, they’d probably still be living as happy-go-lucky second-generation townies, working dead-end jobs.
Unlike a year ago, when Lin Lang secretly eavesdropped on Gu Qingci’s own tragic school stories with a mix of sadness and laughter, this time, it was Gu Qingci who listened — smiling at first but soon struggling not to cry.
She had known Lin Lang had a hard time growing up. She just didn’t realize how hard.
At thirteen, while she herself was carefree — going to school, playing with friends, splurging on snacks, stickers, and pretty hair clips — Lin Lang was already figuring out how to earn enough to stay in school.
Those stories, told now with laughter and cheer, left Gu Qingci feeling hollow inside.
Unable to help herself, she reached out and gently stroked Lin Lang’s cheek. Lin Lang caught her hand and pressed it against her face, smiling warmly, like the past didn’t matter at all.
“It’s all in the past,” she said softly. “I’m doing great now, aren’t I?”
Money earned; a perfect girlfriend won.
Gu Qingci, still holding her hand, impulsively leaned over and kissed Lin Lang’s cheek.
Sure, hardship builds character — but people who truly love you would rather you didn’t have to suffer at all.
Even in the dim, flickering lights, their little kiss was immediately spotted. The whole group erupted in wolf-whistles and cheers.
“Another kiss!”
“Not just on the cheek!”
“Go for a deep one!”
Gu Qingci blushed furiously. She hadn’t meant for it to become a scene!
Lin Lang pulled her into her arms protectively and waved at the rowdy group. “Scram, scram! Can’t you leave a couple alone?”
Everyone booed her shamelessly, but then exchanged mischievous glances, giggling to themselves.
Time for payback!
Had Lin San forgotten how, back in the day, she used to group-call them at midnight, dragging them out of bed and ruining people’s… moments?
They hadn’t forgotten.
They’d even sworn vengeance — if Lin San ever got a girlfriend, she’d suffer their revenge!
Well, well, well. Opportunity had arrived. Sweet revenge, here they come!
After eating and drinking their fill, everyone was good and buzzed, but not totally wasted.
The drunk talk started flowing.
“Lin San, weren’t you supposed to be asexual?! How do you have a girlfriend now?!”
“Woo woo woo, my goddess is taken! Heartbroken!”
“If I’d known you liked girls, I would’ve fought harder for you!”
The passionate wailing sounded so convincing; it was almost touching!
Lin Lang’s face turned green.
Panicked, she turned to Gu Qingci, frantically trying to explain, “No, no! They’re lying! Just stirring up trouble!”
She knew perfectly well — none of these troublemakers had ever liked her like that. They were just being chaotic for fun, trying to mess with her in front of her girlfriend!
Back in the day, she’d done the same to them.
Regret! She regretted not getting a girlfriend sooner!
What goes around, comes around.
Gu Qingci wrinkled her nose and turned away. Hmph, she wasn’t jealous!
After all, if there had been anything real between them, Lin Lang would’ve been snatched up long ago. No way would she have been left for her to scoop up.
Still — even if she wasn’t jealous, she was very, very annoyed.
Why was this woman so D*mn attractive? In every way!
After successfully causing enough chaos, everyone was in high spirits as they stumbled back toward the hotel.
Along the way, arms thrown casually around each other’s shoulders, they whispered *oh-so-sneakily*:
“Living off a sugar mommy ain’t bad! Cherish it while it lasts!”
“Better yet — keep living it up forever!”
“If you get rich, don’t forget us!”
Gu Qingci: ????
Were these drunkards even trying to whisper?
She could hear every single word!
