My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 59
Fang Baihui was utterly puzzled. Just moments ago, he and Gu Qingci were chatting happily, so why did her attitude suddenly turn cold?
Her gaze, now sharp and icy, felt particularly unsettling.
If it weren’t for a phone call that came in at the right moment, he might have thought she was about to throw him out the door without a hint of politeness. Instead, she merely said, “I need to head to the lab. Please make yourself at home, Mr. Fang.”
He tried to reflect on their conversation. He hadn’t said anything offensive, had he? He’d just casually asked if she could introduce him to a few outstanding women.
Did that really offend her?
Confused, he discreetly pulled aside his assistant to ask for advice, genuinely puzzled.
Ah, sometimes a man like Fang Baihui, so used to being at the top, really can’t fathom the intricacies of human emotions.
His assistant listened to Fang’s predicament, stunned speechless. After a moment, the assistant sighed deeply, a clear “Why me?” expression etched on his face.
“Mr. Fang,” he began weakly, “didn’t you specifically clear your schedule to stay here for a week? Isn’t your purpose to pursue Ms. Gu?”
Why on earth would you then ask her to introduce you to other women? Ms. Gu didn’t kick you out on the spot—she must have the patience of a saint!
Fang Baihui was even more shocked than his assistant. “What? Me? Pursue her?”
When did that happen? That’s pure nonsense!
“I’d never!” Fang declared firmly. “She already has someone she likes!”
The heir of the Fang family—handsome, wealthy, and charismatic—would never stoop so low as to interfere in someone else’s relationship. That would be utterly disgraceful!
The assistant blinked, now so stunned that he didn’t even feel surprised anymore.
“You weren’t trying to pursue her? Then what was all the drama about the other day?!”
“What drama?”
“Ms. Gu definitely misunderstood!”
“Think about it—after what you did, who wouldn’t think you were confessing your feelings for her? And then you go and ask her to introduce someone else? That’s enough to make anyone furious!”
“That’s got to be why she got upset!”
After listening to his assistant, Fang felt as if he’d been talking to a wall. He sighed deeply and replied, enunciating each word, “I already said, she has someone she likes.”
All your random theories? Completely baseless.
The assistant, however, remained convinced of his boss’s irresistible charm. “Mr. Fang, someone as handsome, rich, and principled as you—how could anyone refuse your advances?”
Fang suddenly felt a profound loneliness, as though he were trying to explain snow to a summer insect. “Don’t use your shallow assumptions to judge others.”
Gu Qingci wasn’t just anyone. She came from wealth, had a family business she could inherit, and yet had carved out her own successful career. She didn’t rely on her family name but made a name for herself through sheer ability and determination.
In this collaboration, both parties had their interests, but it was clear Fang’s family needed her cooperation more.
With that in mind, why would someone as proud and self-reliant as Gu play games with him? If she weren’t interested, she’d simply reject him outright to avoid unnecessary awkwardness.
It was clear she wasn’t toying with him.
Dismissing his assistant, who seemed to be steering him down the wrong path, Fang decided to figure things out on his own.
After replaying the events in his mind, he finally noticed a critical moment.
When he’d asked Gu if she could introduce him to someone as outstanding as herself, she’d appeared thoughtful—not upset.
But when he mentioned Lin Lang, her expression had shifted immediately.
Ah, so the issue was Lin Lang!
After much deliberation, Fang came to an epiphany:
Could Gu Qingci be worried he’d try to poach Lin Lang?
This realization brought everything into focus.
Finding the right assistant—someone capable, loyal, and immune to personal distractions—was no small feat. If someone tried to recruit his own assistant right in front of him, he’d be upset too!
And Lin Lang was indeed remarkable, capable of juggling multiple roles, including personal assistant and bodyguard.
Having pinpointed the issue, Fang decided on a plan to reassure Gu.
If he kept his distance from Lin Lang and avoided unnecessary interactions, surely Gu would realize he had no intention of stealing her assistant!
However, he soon noticed that Lin Lang was also avoiding him.
Feeling a bit guilty, Fang assumed Gu must have warned Lin Lang about his supposed intentions.
He was entirely unaware that Lin Lang, after suffering through his unintentional chaos, now firmly believed that Fang Baihui was trouble personified.
Hence, Lin Lang avoided him as if her life depended on it.
It was better to stay far away from him to avoid misfortune!
Eventually, both teams reached an agreement and signed the preliminary collaboration deal.
Reluctantly, Fang and his team left, but he felt a sense of loss.
Though he’d achieved most of his objectives, he regretted two things: not meeting Gu’s significant other to seek advice on pursuing outstanding women, and that Gu never introduced him to anyone!
While Fang left feeling dejected, Gu and Lin Lang celebrated his departure like they were sending off a plague.
Thank goodness that man was gone—any longer, and they might not have been able to take it!
Everyone needed a breather.
During the celebratory dinner, both teams let loose. Those who had previously been at each other’s throats now bonded over drinks, determined to outdrink the other side.
Fang, despite drinking a little, remained sober and even praised Gu’s security team.
Meanwhile, Lin Lang discreetly signaled the head of the security team to seize this opportunity to pitch their services to Fang.
By the time the evening ended, everyone had returned home or to their accommodations, leaving Gu and Lin Lang in the car on their way back.
The moment they were alone, Gu leaned against Lin Lang and began teasing her, taking advantage of the dim lighting and privacy.
From playful nibbles on Lin Lang’s ear to sly touches at her waist, Gu’s antics left Lin Lang electrified.
By the time they reached home, Lin Lang could barely hold back her desire to “punish” Gu for her relentless teasing.
The next morning, however, they received an unexpected visitor—Gu’s mother, Minglan Gu.
Walking into her daughter’s home, Minglan was greeted by a surprising scene: scattered shoes at the entrance and suggestive noises coming from inside.
Realizing what she’d walked in on, Minglan decided to retreat, not wanting to embarrass herself or her daughter.
But just as she turned to leave, she heard Qingci’s unmistakable voice cry out, “Lin Lang, you scoundrel!”
Minglan froze in shock. So, the mystery significant other was Lin Lang?
Well, this visit just got a lot more interesting.
