My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 60
Gu Minglan felt as though she had been struck by lightning, her hand gripping the door handle instantly going taut.
Her expression was utterly blank.
Her first reaction wasn’t anger or sadness; instead, it was something strange and indescribable—
Oh, so she didn’t need to worry about her daughter getting pregnant out of wedlock and secretly making her a grandmother.
Although the person inside was someone familiar—and of the same gender as her daughter—Gu Minglan was still a person who valued propriety. She had no intention of barging in to confront the “wild boar” that had “stolen” her cabbage.
Instead, she gently closed the door, floated into the elevator like a ghost, exited the building, and wandered aimlessly until she found herself at the small pavilion by the community lake.
It took her a long time to recover from the “shock of the century”—an utterly earth-shattering revelation.
No wonder Gu Qingci had been so secretive, hiding this from her for almost a year without so much as a hint!
So it was Lin Lang all along!
No wonder Gu Qingci had reacted so intensely when Lin Lang got into trouble, as though the sky had fallen. She was anxious and almost out of her mind.
Now that made sense—it was how someone would act toward the person they loved!
No wonder when she came back from abroad, she headed straight for the capital, brimming with excitement and joy to reunite with her beloved, completely neglecting her family.
Thinking back further, her daughter’s eagerness to graduate early and return to the country was probably also because of…
The more Gu Minglan thought about it, the more bitter she felt.
Her daughter had grown up and flown the nest. Not only had she secretly fallen in love, but she had also hidden it from her mother with no leaks whatsoever.
Her once sweet and considerate daughter—her “little padded jacket”—had let the cold draft in a long time ago!
And she had even thought ahead, bringing Lin Lang under her wing and arranging for her to move to the capital.
Was it because she was afraid her beloved would suffer under her mother’s supervision?
Now that she knew the truth, reflecting on the past made everything seem so obvious—like lice on a bald man’s head, glaringly apparent.
It was just that she had never considered it from that perspective before.
Even though sometimes she thought their relationship seemed a bit too close—always hugging and clinging to each other—it wasn’t unusual for close girlfriends to behave that way.
So she had missed all the clues and never dug deeper.
She had even thought it was great that Lin Lang was around to provide mutual support and care for each other. Little did she know, they’d “cared” all the way to bed!
Lin Lang—this girl had really betrayed her trust!
“Auntie Gu, I trust you to take care of my daughter while she’s in the capital.”
And this was how she took care of her?
Gu Minglan rubbed her temples, her mind a whirlwind of emotions.
Wait—something didn’t add up.
Gu Minglan’s gaze flickered as she recalled the moment when Gu Qingci had asked her to let Lin Lang transfer to her team. Her daughter had been both excited and nervous when she said she “wanted her.”
So she hadn’t just wanted Lin Lang for work—she wanted her for bed too?!
Thinking back, Lin Lang didn’t show any signs of being in love before moving to the capital. But once she arrived, everything changed Gu Qingci had even remotely ordered her to prepare their new home. No wonder Lin Lang had always seemed oddly nervous in her presence.
Gu Minglan let out a long, disbelieving sigh as the truth dawned on her.
It wasn’t Lin Lang who had schemed to win over her daughter—it was her daughter who had carefully laid the trap and successfully caught Lin Lang!
With that realization, Gu Minglan’s feelings grew even more complicated.
So her daughter wasn’t the victim here but the mastermind.
The thought was both hilarious and distressing.
Love is mutual, after all. If they’ve been together this long, it must be consensual. But this realization also made things tricky.
It was one thing if Lin Lang had pursued Gu Qingci and worn her down over time. But if Gu Qingci had been the one to lure Lin Lang, determined to win her over, then this was on a whole other level!
A year of plotting and persistence—it was clear how serious Gu Qingci was about this relationship.
Considering they’d been together for nearly a year and were still so deeply attached, Gu Minglan’s headache only worsened.
Her daughter had clearly made up her mind about Lin Lang. At least for now.
Living together in their custom-designed apartment, with no neighbors around, it was no wonder they were so uninhibited.
If she had arrived just 30 minutes earlier, she might have witnessed an even more mortifying scene.
Inside the room, the two were catching their breath, cuddled together.
Gu Qingci gently kissed Lin Lang’s sweat-dampened forehead before moving upward to her lips.
“Are you tired? Still okay?” Gu Qingci whispered suggestively.
Lin Lang immediately responded, “Of course, I’m fine!”
Satisfied, Gu Qingci smiled and leaned in closer. “In that case, I want more…”
Half an hour later, at the lakeside pavilion, Gu Minglan, thoroughly chilled by the wind, finally calmed down.
Not just mentally, but physically too.
She guessed that after all this time, they must have taken a break by now.
But when she called her daughter, she was met with: “The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable.”
Gu Minglan put down her phone, numb.
Still not done, or at it again?
Whatever it was, her call clearly wasn’t a priority.
Admitting defeat, Gu Minglan made her way to a nearby private dining restaurant to sit down and let the warm air restore her body.
Finally, her daughter returned her call, her voice low and warm.
“Mom?”
Hearing that familiar voice, Gu Minglan sighed inwardly.
Pretending nothing had happened, she said, “Qingci, I’m in the capital. Are you free to have lunch with me today?”
“Mom, when did you get here? Why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve picked you up!” Gu Qingci’s tone instantly tightened.
If I had told you, I’d still be in the dark, Gu Minglan thought to herself.
Calmly, she replied, “I just finished some business in Tianjin and thought I’d drop by to see you. It’s nothing major. If you’re free, I’ll send you the restaurant address.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Gu Qingci agreed. “Alright, Mom.”
Hanging up, Gu Qingci gave Lin Lang a quick kiss before sitting up. “Mom’s here. I need to get dressed and head out.”
Lin Lang sighed, watching as Gu Qingci dressed. “Does this mean I have to move back to my old place?”
Gu Qingci smirked, “Not this time. You’re coming with me.”
“What?!” Lin Lang stared at her, stunned. “Is that really okay?”
“Of course,” Gu Qingci said confidently. “You’re not a stranger.”
After a moment of silence, she added, “Don’t overthink. I’ll tell Mom about us soon. For now, this is just a little heads-up to help her adjust.”
Though the timing wasn’t perfect, Gu Qingci knew the secret couldn’t be kept forever. After all, they weren’t doing anything wrong—just falling in love.
