My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 66
Ruan Mingjie thought he had hidden his emotions well.
But Gu Minglan didn’t miss the brief flicker in his eyes.
She sneered inwardly. This scumbag clearly hadn’t learned his lesson. Last time, she must not have hit him hard enough if he still dared to scheme against them.
If he dared to make any more moves, he could just wait and see!
Back then, he caught her off guard. Now that all the resentment and scheming were laid out in the open, it would be a head-on fight. Who was afraid of who?
He still didn’t understand how he had ended up in such a mess — how, in just a few years, he managed to squander the billions he got in the divorce.
With that kind of intelligence, he still dared to come mess with her?
Later that evening, during her daily call with her daughter, Gu Minglan casually mentioned what happened today. Not because she needed help, but just to remind her daughter to stay alert and not be tricked by her scumbag father.
After all, he was still her biological dad. Gu Minglan could curse him, but Gu Qingci couldn’t say much. She just replied calmly that he wouldn’t be able to get anything from her.
Last year, following Lin Lang’s advice, Gu Qingci had made arrangements. Besides signing a notarized document to designate Lin Lang as her guardian in case of an emergency, she also wrote a will — leaving her scumbag father nothing.
While mentioning all this, Gu Minglan even praised Lin Lang:
“The bodyguards she arranged are top-notch, really reliable.”
Gu Qingci responded with a simple “Mm,” and said, “If he has any bad ideas, would two bodyguards be enough? Maybe she should send a few more? I’m worried he might target Grandpa and Grandma.”
Hearing her daughter’s thoughtfulness, Gu Minglan felt warm inside. But she shook her head — no need to add more bodyguards. They had too many family members; they couldn’t guard everyone.
It would be better to solve the root of the problem:
“You should have her assign people to monitor Ruan Mingjie and his illegitimate son.”
As for her own parents, Gu Minglan reminded:
“Don’t forget, even though your grandma’s retired, there are still people secretly protecting her.”
Gu Qingci’s grandmother had been a leading figure in aerospace research, a true authority in her field.
If not for her age — nearly eighty now — she would probably still be working.
Even after retiring, she often wrote papers, mentored students, but had long given up on doing hands-on research.
The mother and daughter chatted for a while longer. Before hanging up, Gu Minglan sighed:
“Lin Lang’s people are really reliable, and they keep their mouths shut too.”
Gu Qingci let out a low “oh,” and gave Lin Lang — who was sitting beside her — a glare full of resentment!
This idiot was actually getting praised by Mom!
If she weren’t worried that telling the full story would disappoint her mom and make her change her attitude towards Lin Lang, Gu Qingci would’ve already ratted her out.
Gu Minglan didn’t notice anything wrong until after the call ended.
Wait a minute — she had just praised Lin Lang twice, and her daughter didn’t even chime in once to agree or compliment her beloved?
Were the two of them… fighting?
She thought about calling again to ask, but then changed her mind.
Eh, she had already accepted them as a couple — no need to interfere too much.
Parents meddling in young people’s relationships only made things worse!
She convinced herself easily, tossed her phone aside, and comforted herself: she should focus on self-care, sleep early, and worry less!
During the call, Gu Qingci didn’t forget to shoot a few more glares at Lin Lang.
Once the call ended, Gu Qingci spoke in a stiff, business-like tone:
“Mom said to have you arrange people to keep an eye on Ruan Mingjie and his illegitimate son.”
Lin Lang naturally agreed:
“Of course, no problem. I’ll get on it right away.”
She pulled out her phone immediately, fired off a bunch of messages to Ting-ge, and once he replied with a quote, she transferred the money without hesitation.
She even held her phone up in front of Gu Qingci:
“Look, all arranged. Anything else you want to add?”
Gu Qingci glanced at the quote — it was a pretty hefty amount.
She said coldly:
“No, that’s fine. I’ll have Mom reimburse you.”
Lin Lang frowned and quickly leaned in to please her:
“No need, no need. What’s Mom’s business is my business, and your business is my business too. We’re family — no need to keep things so separate.”
Gu Qingci snorted lightly but didn’t argue with the “family” comment. She just said calmly:
“Fine. I’ll tell Mom it’s your gift to her.”
In other words —
Don’t think you’re doing me a favor!
Trying to weasel your way out with a little trick like that? No way!
I’m not short on money!
Seeing that Gu Qingci didn’t outright reject her, Lin Lang got bolder.
She tugged gently on Gu Qingci’s sleeve, her whole face pleading:
“Don’t be mad anymore, okay? It’s bad for your health.”
Gu Qingci’s anger flared up even more when she saw that pitiful face:
“Let go!”
You dare act cute after doing something wrong? Dream on!
They had been officially dating for over a year now, and naturally, they had small fights and disagreements, but they always made up quickly — usually within the day.
A kiss or a hug, and they’d be all lovey-dovey again.
But this time was different.
It had been a full week, and Gu Qingci still hadn’t forgiven her.
Not that they were giving each other the silent treatment — they talked normally, like colleagues or roommates.
But anything more intimate? No way.
She didn’t even kick Lin Lang out of the bedroom.
They still shared the same bed — just no cuddles or anything beyond that.
Gu Qingci was still furious at the thought that when Lin Lang first pursued her, she had been driven by the mentality of “even if I die young, I have to sleep with her first.”
Such disrespect!
But to be fair, Lin Lang had been very restrained this week.
She hadn’t tried anything, respecting Gu Qingci’s boundaries completely.
Still, this cold war couldn’t go on forever.
When Gu Qingci told her to let go, Lin Lang’s brain short-circuited.
She pulled harder — and managed to yank Gu Qingci straight into her arms.
Gu Qingci stumbled into her chest and, looking up, met Lin Lang’s smiling eyes.
Just as she was about to get angry again, Lin Lang beat her to it, pitifully complaining:
“You haven’t let me hug you for a whole week.”
Gu Qingci rolled her eyes at her.
Still angry — no hugs for you!
But Lin Lang continued to act pitiful:
“Don’t think I don’t know — when you agreed to date me, you were also thinking ‘it’s not a loss.’”
The more she said it, the more she felt she had a point — she even looked proud.
Come on, you thought the same!
Sure, she had some sneaky thoughts back then, but didn’t Gu Qingci also think, “even if it doesn’t end well, at least we tried”?
Gu Qingci was so mad she blurted out:
“How is that the same?!”
“My ‘not a loss’ meant — I really liked you! Even if it didn’t end well, even if we didn’t make it to the end, just having been together would be worth it!”
“Yours is completely different!”
In her heart, Gu Qingci had never once thought Lin Lang wasn’t good enough for her.
But Lin Lang? At first, she just thought of her as a prize to be won!
Lin Lang stared at her, stunned, then her smile slowly grew.
She was good at catching key points.
“You really liked me, huh?”
“Just being together made it worth it?”
Her voice got softer and softer, her eyes brighter and brighter.
Gu Qingci got angrier the more she listened but couldn’t struggle free.
She leaned down and bit Lin Lang hard on the shoulder.
Lin Lang gasped but didn’t let go.
She knew Gu Qingci needed to vent.
“I never meant to disrespect you,” Lin Lang said seriously.
Back when she realized she liked Gu Qingci, she had hesitated — but only for a moment.
Whether it was Gu Qingci’s own charm or the fear of missing out, she quickly made up her mind:
Forget everything else. I’ll just let her know how I feel.
“I just didn’t want to miss out on you.”
The more she liked Gu Qingci, the more she couldn’t bear the thought of someone else winning her over.
Gu Qingci’s bite loosened a little.
Seeing hope, Lin Lang continued to plead her case:
“Even if I thought someone else might get you if I hesitated, I still chose to go for it.”
Gu Qingci let go and gave a soft “hmph.”
Fine, I’ll let you off this time.
Sensing the shift, Lin Lang immediately tightened her hug, rubbing against her affectionately.
“I figured — if someone was going to be with you, it might as well be me.”
Gu Qingci muttered under her breath:
“Who knows if you’re just saying that to fool me.”
Lin Lang couldn’t stand the injustice and rushed to swear an oath:
“I swear, if I’m lying about this, I’ll be stuck in a purely platonic relationship with you for life!”
Gu Qingci punched her, furious!
Was that an oath or a curse — and who exactly was she cursing?!
