My Villain Is Super Sweet (GL) - CHAPTER 78
Lin Lang arranged for someone to change all the soft furnishings upstairs and also assigned a bodyguard to follow Chen Cheng. After that, she left things as they were.
As long as Chen Cheng didn’t do anything foolish, this setup was enough. Any more, and she wasn’t going to bother. She couldn’t manage everything.
Chen Cheng was an adult. Surely, she could handle herself. What was the point of resisting family arrangements at that age? Was she incapable of taking care of herself?
Seeing Chen Cheng made Lin Lang think of those little princesses in her dreams, the ones who made her stomach turn and wanted her to skip the scenes of the oily, domineering CEOs and the endless “I love you, I hate you” drama. It was the kind of story she’d rather fast-forward through—something that wasn’t deeply memorable, just vaguely impressionable. She could only describe it to Gu Qingci based on her gut feelings.
She gave a disjointed explanation, and Gu Qingci pieced it together. As someone who had personally experienced the pursuit of He Jikai’s old tricks, she felt a strong sense of déjà vu.
After putting the pieces together, she was speechless. “My God, He Jikai really hasn’t learned a thing. He’s still using the same tired old methods!”
Whether they worked or not, he copied everything without hesitation.
Gu Qingci tried to make sense of it, comparing Lin Lang’s fragmented details with He Jikai’s previous attempts to woo her. It started to make sense.
When He Jikai had initially pursued her, he had done so under the pretext that they were both from Rong City, with some family connections. At first, she didn’t pay much attention, since they were both in Jing City and it made sense to look out for one another.
But He Jikai didn’t seem to see it that way. He subtly pursued her, constantly flattering her, trying to win her over.
When she realized what was happening, she started distancing herself. She started avoiding him when he invited her out or came to the university to see her, offering reasons like needing to study in the library, hang out with roommates, or go to the lab with seniors. Her excuses grew increasingly clear, but He Jikai acted like he didn’t notice and kept pursuing her.
This started to irritate her and make her cautious. Children from wealthy families like them were usually spoiled and got what they wanted, so it was normal for them to be charming and social. What was unusual, however, was being persistent and unrelenting even after clear rejection.
After all, who didn’t feel like a little prince or princess? There were plenty of people to choose from in this circle, so why keep chasing one person, unless there was something more to it?
But what was He Jikai after? What were his intentions?
She didn’t believe it was true love.
And from what Lin Lang had said, He Jikai’s attitude toward Chen Cheng and his pursuit methods were almost identical to how he had treated her.
It didn’t seem like love; it seemed like there was something he wanted, something to gain.
It wasn’t hard to figure out why. He Jikai had started to pursue her around the time he learned that he wasn’t actually He’s biological child. He needed to increase his leverage within the He family, and if his true parentage were revealed, with support from his powerful future in-laws, he might still be able to keep his place.
Why would he focus on her, though? That was easy to understand.
As far as family wealth went, while her family wasn’t the wealthiest in Rong City, the assets she stood to inherit made her one of the top candidates. Her family’s connections, mostly in education and research, provided valuable resources—perfect for someone like He Jikai, who was seeking a strategic partner.
It wasn’t surprising, then, that after failing to win her over, he resorted to desperate measures, trying to force things to work.
When she and her mother rejected him, He Jikai’s plan fell apart, and the He family had to back off, eventually making a deal with her father to settle everything.
His plan to secure a foothold within the He family failed, and he was forced to turn to Lin Lang.
How much resentment and manipulation were involved in that, it was hard to say, but it was clear that when Lin Lang disappeared, He Jikai’s chances improved. The He family had no choice but to support him, and everything seemed to fall into place.
Gu Qingci was hit with a revelation after thinking it all through. She realized how manipulative He Jikai had been, willing to go to any lengths to ensure his future, even betraying his own morals.
If not for the dream, Lin Lang might have disappeared, with all traces of her wiped away. Only Lin Yao would remember her, and perhaps try to clear her name or avenge her. The thought made Gu Qingci feel a deep sadness.
Even though it was just a possibility, it hurt so much that it was hard for her to breathe.
She urgently wanted to do something, to feel Lin Lang’s presence, her warmth.
The eldest lady immediately called Lin Lang in. “Lin Lang, come in.”
When Lin Lang walked in smiling, the eldest lady, trying to keep calm, ordered, “Close the door.”
To make sure Lin Lang got the hint, she added, “Lock it.”
Lin Lang did as instructed, and even casually asked, “What’s up?”
She didn’t get to ask more because the eldest lady walked up to her, leaned in, and hugged her from behind. She planted a soft, heated kiss on her neck and ear, trailing kisses up her cheek to her eyes, before finally pressing a passionate kiss on her lips.
Lin Lang:…
What kind of day was this?
The unexpected affection from the eldest lady almost knocked her out! This was a rare, hot, and passionate display, and she was totally taken off guard.
Naturally, Lin Lang couldn’t let the eldest lady’s enthusiasm slip away. She wrapped her arms around her waist, turning the tables and taking control of the situation. Soon, she was kissing her deeply, causing her face to flush and her eyes to sparkle.
But even though the kiss was intense, Lin Lang still kept her boundaries. Having learned from past experiences, she wasn’t expecting more, and she was content with just holding and kissing.
To her surprise, the eldest lady didn’t just leave it at that. Instead, she shot Lin Lang a playful glare before leaning in again, teasing her ear with soft breaths and caressing her body, making a suggestive invitation.
“Mm, Lin Lang, I… I want…” The eldest lady whispered in between kisses, her hands sliding into Lin Lang’s clothes, lightly tracing her waist.
Lin Lang was both surprised and delighted, her eyes wide in disbelief. Could this really be happening?
She couldn’t believe the sudden shift in their usual dynamic!
After all, who hadn’t thought about an office romance?
However, the eldest lady was usually very reserved, especially in the office, where she felt it was inappropriate to cross certain lines. She had never agreed to mixing business with pleasure.
Yet here they were, in a situation she never could have imagined.
Lin Lang, still reeling from the shock, asked, “Really?”
Was this really happening? Or was she being tested?
The eldest lady only laughed, not answering, but kissing her more urgently.
Without any more words, they stumbled into the office’s private rest room. As soon as the door was closed behind them, Lin Lang found herself on the bed, completely overwhelmed by the situation.
As the heat of their connection reached its peak, neither of them could help but sigh in the moment. They were fully present with each other, shedding all restraints.
After the passionate encounter, Lin Lang gently helped the eldest lady put her clothes back on, holding her closely as they left the room.
The eldest lady, now fully dressed and seemingly composed, sat at her desk as if she were working, but the tension in her body was undeniable. Her fingers gripped the desk, and her breath, though steady at times, came in quick bursts as she held herself together, the aftereffects of their passion evident in her flushed face and teary eyes.
