- Chapter 38 - An Alpha in Heat Will Claim Her Completely
Xing Xiaochu immediately perked up at the mention, her eyes widening. “A gift? What gift?”
She had thought there was only a cake.
Qi Ying smiled mysteriously, setting down what she was holding before retrieving Xing Xiaochu’s present.
“This is a contract with a record company. They sent a demo of the song. If you like it, we can sign it, and you can go record it when you have time.” Qi Ying sat on the living room sofa, pulling Xing Xiaochu down beside her, then opened her phone to play the demo.
The melody wasn’t intense—soft and melodious, like a sweet love song. There were no lyrics yet, just the chorus. Xing Xiaochu’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Qi Ying. “This song… will be mine?”
Qi Ying nodded, smiling. “Do you like it?”
Xing Xiaochu nodded repeatedly.
“Good. Then sign the contract, and the song is yours.” Qi Ying handed Xing Xiaochu a black pen, guiding her to sign her name on the record contract.
This was the first time Xing Xiaochu had received such an extravagant birthday gift. She asked Qi Ying to send her the demo, and Qi Ying agreed with a smile before pulling out another gift from behind her.
“It’s going to get cold soon, so this will be perfect for you to wear when you go out.” Qi Ying placed the gift box on Xing Xiaochu’s lap. “Open it and see if you like it.”
Inside the purple box lay a leather trench coat.
The design wasn’t complicated, but it was beautiful. Xing Xiaochu had lost count of how many handmade clothes Qi Ying had given her by now. She stared at the lovely garment in the box, her lashes trembling slightly, her earlier excitement fading. Qi Ying was taken aback.
“What’s wrong?” Qi Ying asked worriedly. “Don’t you like the gift?”
Xing Xiaochu shook her head. Biting her lip, she set the box aside and stood up. “Sister, I… I have something for you too.”
With that, she quickly dashed into her room and returned with a crumpled bag.
Qi Ying glanced at it curiously. “What’s this? For me?”
Xing Xiaochu nodded, her face flushing slightly as she shyly pulled out a brown plush toy. “I… I don’t have much money, so I could only get you a small gift. I hope you don’t mind.”
The plushie, with its serene, half-lidded eyes, was adorable. Qi Ying chuckled as she took it, cradling it in her hands. She noticed the price tag was still attached—it wasn’t expensive.
“I love it,” Qi Ying said gently. “This is the first gift you’ve ever given me. I’ll treasure it.”
Xing Xiaochu’s face turned even redder. She fiddled with her sleeves, her eyes sparkling with happiness.
After trying on the trench coat—which fit perfectly and would be ideal for colder days—the two exchanged gifts and admired their new presents before sitting down for dinner. Qi Ying had even prepared the cake early, letting Xing Xiaochu make a wish before snapping photos of her with her phone.
When making her wish, Xing Xiaochu clasped her hands together, wearing a birthday hat. It had been so long since she’d celebrated a birthday that she pondered her wish carefully before solemnly making it.
[“I hope to stay with Sister Qiying forever.”]
Xing Xiaochu opened her eyes and saw the person sitting across from her in the dim candlelight. Qiying’s face flickered in the candle’s glow, her bright eyes shining as she gazed at Xiaochu with warmth.
“Finished?” Qiying asked.
“Mhm.” Xiaochu nodded, nervously eyeing the number “18” candle burning before her. “Can I blow it out now?”
“Of course,” Qiying replied with a smile.
With a soft puff, Xiaochu extinguished the flame, plunging the living room into darkness save for the neon lights outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. Her heart pounded inexplicably in the dark, a strange tension rising within her as she caught the rich aroma of plum wine.
The lights flicked on abruptly, the potent scent vanishing instantly. Blinking, Xiaochu watched Qiying approach, smiling as she said, “Let’s have some cake.”
The cake was delicious, generously filled with fruit. Xiaochu served Qiying first before cutting a slice for herself.
As she lifted her plate, a dab of white cream smudged her finger. She blinked at the sticky spot, then glanced at Qiying beside her. Summoning courage, she reached out and swiped the cream onto Qiying’s cheek.
Qiying: “?”
Giggling, Xiaochu dipped her finger in more cream from her plate and added another streak, laughing brightly. “Sister, you look so cute like this.”
Caught off guard by the second smear, Qiying felt an inexplicable restlessness stir within her at Xiaochu’s beaming face—like a flame suddenly fanned to life by the girl’s playful gesture.
She seized Xiaochu’s wrist before it could retreat, yanking her closer. The chair screeched sharply as Xiaochu was pulled forward, her eyes widening in alarm at Qiying’s reaction. But then Qiying lowered her gaze to the cream-smeared fingers and slowly extended her tongue.
The warm tongue curled between Xiaochu’s fingers. She stared, stunned, as Qiying held her wrist and began licking delicately.
“S-Sister…!”
Panic surged as Xiaochu caught the sudden explosion of pheromones in the air—like paint detonating, saturating the room with the scent of alcohol in an instant.
Oblivious, Qiying continued meticulously with her pink tongue, tracing from Xiaochu’s slender fingertips to her warm palm until the entire hand glistened wetly. When she finally looked up, she found Xiaochu staring back in flustered fear.
Qiying inhaled Xiaochu’s sweet osmanthus fragrance, now mingled with the phantom plum wine into an intoxicating osmanthus liquor aroma.
“Xiaochu,” Qiying murmured, still gripping her wrist. “You smell divine.”
The next second, Qi Ying threw away the cake in her hand. The white cake landed on the floor with a splat. Before Xing Xiaochu could lament the uneaten bite, she was abruptly pulled into Qi Ying’s embrace.
“Sister, sister, wait a moment!”
Xing Xiaochu panicked. She knew Qi Ying was entering her rut—she’d noticed the other’s unstable condition earlier but had assumed someone as mature as Qi Ying could control it. She never expected it to erupt so violently now.
Qi Ying’s pheromones were intoxicating. Just being near her for a short while made Xing Xiaochu’s head spin, her body growing weak and feverish.
She was being driven into heat by Qi Ying’s scent.
When pushed onto the sofa, Xing Xiaochu’s mind had already gone blank. Qi Ying pinned her shoulders down, capturing her pink lips hungrily, her tongue exploring Xing Xiaochu’s mouth in a fierce dance.
“Mmm…”
Weakly bracing against Qi Ying’s shoulders, Xing Xiaochu’s eyes reddened at the edges. The kiss was savage, as if Qi Ying meant to devour her whole.
“Sister… mmm… sister, don’t…”
Her voice trembled with alarm. During a brief gasp for air, she pushed against the woman atop her. Xing Xiaochu vaguely understood what was coming and feared it—in her mind, her first kiss and intimate moment shouldn’t be like this.
But Qi Ying, lost to instinct, couldn’t comprehend Xing Xiaochu’s fear. One hand pinned Xing Xiaochu’s wrists above her head while the other roamed recklessly over her slender waist.
Qi Ying had admired that waist countless times, but only now, touching it, did she realize how impossibly narrow it truly was.
Xing Xiaochu was crying.
Writhing beneath her like an eel, her struggles gradually parted her legs, the loose pants revealing rounded knees. Qi Ying continued kissing her while kneading the tempting curve between waist and hips.
Slap—
Qi Ying froze, then searing pain bloomed across her cheek.
The shock brought partial clarity. Withdrawing her hand from Xing Xiaochu’s clothes, she looked down at the sobbing girl beneath her, mind reeling.
When Qi Ying had begun lifting Xing Xiaochu’s shirt, her grip had loosened enough for Xing Xiaochu to wrench free and deliver the stinging slap that partially sobered her.
“…I’m sorry.”
Horrified at herself, Qi Ying took in Xing Xiaochu’s disheveled state—clothes in disarray, eyes red and swollen from crying—and felt immediate remorse.
How could she do such a thing?
She couldn’t stay in this world any longer. She had to exit the game.
Stumbling off the sofa, Qi Ying fled to her room and shut the door, leaving the living room in silence.
The thick scent of pheromones lingered. Wiping her tears, Xing Xiaochu sat up slowly. With Qi Ying gone, the burning heat faded, allowing her to regain composure.
It seemed… Qi Ying hadn’t realized she was in rut.
Xing Xiaochu looked down at her reddened wrist where she’d been grabbed, realizing for the first time that Qi Ying could also be a terrifying alpha.
The way the other had forced herself upon her just moments ago still left Xing Xiaochu shaken.
She needed to escape.
Qi Ying was in her rut now. As an Omega, Xing Xiaochu should stay far away from her—it would be best not to see her for the entire week. Sleeping in a hotel or even on the streets would be better than staying here. She absolutely had to get away from Qi Ying.
A loud ‘BANG’ from Qi Ying’s room made Xing Xiaochu jump in fright. She stared fearfully at the door, knowing that if she didn’t leave now, she might not get another chance.
An alpha in rut would claim her completely.
But…
Xing Xiaochu hesitated, her gaze lingering on Qi Ying’s door. She could still smell the other’s pheromones—that rich scent tinged with a hint of panic. Xing Xiaochu knew Qi Ying needed help right now.
