- Chapter 40 - "Xiaochu, will you be my wife?"
With a nervous heart, Xing Xiaochu fell asleep for the first time so close to Qi Ying.
The next morning, before she even opened her eyes, Xing Xiaochu felt as if she was being licked by a puppy. When she opened them, she saw Qi Ying kissing her, the woman’s hands already wandering restlessly around her waist.
Blushing furiously, Xing Xiaochu sat up. Noticing the bright daylight outside, she tried to get up to pack and send Qi Ying to the hospital. But before her feet could touch the floor, Qi Ying pulled her back into bed by the waist.
“Wait! Sister, wait!”
Xing Xiaochu pushed Qi Ying’s face away in disgust, pouting as she scolded, “No kissing before brushing your teeth!”
Qi Ying froze, gazing at her with undisguised desire but obediently refraining.
Blinking, Xing Xiaochu declared, “I’m going to brush my teeth and wash my face. Don’t stop me.”
Qi Ying watched her intently without speaking.
“If you don’t object, I’ll take that as agreement.” Tentatively edging toward the bedside and meeting no resistance, Xing Xiaochu immediately leapt up, grabbing her phone before darting out of the room.
Only outside did she finally exhale in relief.
The dinner table from last night remained uncleared. The induction cooker had automatically shut off from prolonged inactivity. The birthday cake lay untouched on the floor, its frosting now a sticky mess.
Xing Xiaochu pouted sadly at the sight of her ruined birthday cake.
This was all Sister’s fault.
Why did her rut have to coincide with this special day? Such a waste of a perfectly good cake. Maybe they could still salvage it if they cut away the dried-out parts…
As she worried over the dessert, a soft ‘click’ sounded behind her. Turning, she found Qi Ying standing in the doorway like some damp ghost, dark eyes fixed on her, making Xing Xiaochu shiver.
Inhibitors! She needed inhibitors!
Rushing to the medicine cabinet, Xing Xiaochu rummaged for the suppressants. Though they were meant for 24-hour intervals, she decided to administer another dose preemptively, fearing another episode.
Somehow Qi Ying had followed silently. When Xing Xiaochu turned, the woman stood right behind her.
Those lust-filled eyes watched as Qi Ying slowly raised her hand.
Acting swiftly, Xing Xiaochu grabbed her wrist, rolling up the sleeve. “Stay still,” she instructed. “You’re getting another shot.”
Qi Ying remained motionless as the second dose entered her system.
With the injection complete, Xing Xiaochu relaxed. Watching Qi Ying stare blankly at the tiny mark on her arm, she found this dazed version of her sister oddly endearing.
“Stop staring,” Xing Xiaochu chided. “Go brush your teeth.”
Qi Ying’s gaze shifted to Xing Xiaochu’s face instead. Leaning down, she planted a kiss on the blushing cheek, only heading to the bathroom after visibly satisfying herself with the reaction.
Left alone, Xing Xiaochu immediately crouched down, covering her burning face in mortification. She wished she could dig a hole and disappear.
How could she blush over a kiss from someone not in their right mind?
This was so embarrassing…
Xiaochu squatted on the floor for a long while, dazed, until Little Melon came trotting over and circled around her. Only then did Xiaochu, her eyes still red-rimmed, poke the kitten’s bottom and get up to wash up.
As she reached the bathroom door, Qi Ying happened to step out, water droplets still clinging to her face and gathering at her chin. Her dark eyes, damp from washing, fixed on Xiaochu with an inscrutable gaze.
Xiaochu tried to dodge past her into the bathroom, but the woman stubbornly blocked her way, eventually grabbing Xiaochu’s arm and pinning her against the bathroom door before leaning in for another kiss.
“Mmmph!”
Xiaochu pounded on her shoulders and kicked at her knees, but nothing could stop Qi Ying’s audacity.
Having been thoroughly taken advantage of, Xiaochu decided it wasn’t worth arguing about. After giving herself an inhibitor shot, she prepared to take Qi Ying out.
At the hospital, the doctor glanced up from Qi Ying’s test results and adjusted his glasses. “Are you her Omega?” he asked.
The tips of Xiaochu’s ears burned red. She opened her mouth to deny it, but the woman clinging to her side made their relationship abundantly clear—even going so far as to plant a loud kiss on Xiaochu’s soft, pale cheek right in front of the doctor.
Xiaochu: “!!!!”
The doctor remained unfazed. “Your alpha’s differentiation came late,” he explained calmly. “This kind of disorientation is normal during the first estrus cycle. It’s nothing serious. I’ll prescribe some medication—just stay with her at home, and it won’t be like this next time.”
Xiaochu, her face still burning from the kiss, shot Qi Ying a reproachful glare before leading her off to get the medicine.
Qi Ying stayed silent, trailing after Xiaochu as they wandered through the hospital. The stares from passersby made the already thin-skinned Xiaochu want to disappear. She hurriedly grabbed the medicine and dragged Qi Ying out of the building.
Outside, Xiaochu flagged down a cab and shoved them both inside. No sooner had she given the driver their address than she noticed Qi Ying’s expression shifting beside her. Reacting quickly, Xiaochu clapped a hand over Qi Ying’s mouth.
Qi Ying, displeased, sniffed at Xiaochu’s palm before sneakily darting out her tongue for a taste.
Xiaochu: “!!!!”
Qi Ying’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at Xiaochu, her lips curving into a smile. She swirled her tongue playfully against Xiaochu’s palm.
Mortified but not daring to remove her hand—lest Qi Ying lose all sense of propriety and start groping her in front of the driver—Xiaochu steeled herself and whispered, “Please, sis, behave. We’ll… we’ll talk at home, okay?”
Qi Ying blinked in agreement.
The moment they stepped through the door, before Xiaochu could even change her shoes, a powerful force slammed her against the entryway cabinet. The medicine bag slipped from her fingers as Qi Ying eagerly cupped her chin and kissed her again.
Her tongue hot and insistent, Qi Ying didn’t let up for a second. Her free hand slipped under Xiaochu’s shirt, roaming over the girl’s slender waist.
“Mmm…”
Xing Xiaochu was trembling all over in fear, clutching Qi Ying’s hands with reddened eyes as she pleaded, “Y-you can kiss me however you want, just please don’t take my clothes off… It’s my first time, I don’t want it like this… Sob…”
Seeing Xiaochu cry again, Qi Ying slightly furrowed her brows, seemingly unable to understand why this little Omega kept crying—whether being kissed or touched.
Yet Qi Ying’s instincts ultimately softened her heart. She withdrew her hands from Xiaochu’s clothes, using her thumb to wipe away the tears on the child’s face before cradling her cheeks and continuing to kiss her.
Fine, no touching—just kissing would do.
For the next few days, Xiaochu couldn’t go anywhere. Even meals had to be delivered to the door because Qi Ying would grow frantic whenever she couldn’t see her, searching everywhere until she found her, only to shower her with kisses and touches as if afraid Xiaochu might run away.
Left with no choice, Xiaochu asked for leave from her homeroom teacher, deciding to stay by Qi Ying’s side these days.
Her daily routine now consisted of refilling the cat’s water and food, being kissed while held by Qi Ying, picking up food deliveries at the door, eating, then being kissed again. At night, after washing up, she’d be pulled back into the bedroom for more kissing.
Xiaochu felt her lips were about to be worn raw from all the kissing, but she couldn’t refuse Qi Ying’s relentless affection. Sometimes, carried away by passion, Qi Ying’s hands would wander—once even pulling Xiaochu’s underwear halfway down before Xiaochu, flushed, yanked them back up and scolded her from the bed about not undressing her.
Only to be pinned down and kissed again.
Though thoroughly groped, at least it was just kissing.
One day, worn out and hungry, Xiaochu decided to boil some frozen dumplings for a quick meal. She casually tied her hair into a low ponytail, dressed in an oversized T-shirt and shorts, bustling about the kitchen.
Having just kissed Qi Ying, she noticed the Alpha seemed increasingly lucid as time passed. Calculating the days, Qi Ying’s rut would likely end in another day or two. Xiaochu began worrying about how to face her afterward.
A rut wasn’t amnesia—Qi Ying would surely remember everything that happened between them these days. Xiaochu’s heart pounded nervously.
After peach-scented and rose-scented Omegas, would Qi Ying now add an osmanthus-scented one to her collection?
But Xiaochu didn’t want to be just another fish in playgirl Qi Ying’s pond. She wanted someone who’d love her wholeheartedly, not some promiscuous woman like Qi Ying.
Yet again—if Qi Ying already had Omegas, why hadn’t she contacted them? Unless… she just wanted to take advantage of Xiaochu during her rut?
Xiaochu couldn’t figure it out. Even as the dumplings bubbled away, no answers came. She resolved to wait until Qi Ying regained her senses.
Just as she turned off the stove, arms wrapped around her from behind, accompanied by that familiar pheromone scent.
Startled, Xiaochu looked up at Qi Ying resting her head on her shoulder like a contented cat, blinking softly before murmuring, “Xiaochu…”
“What?” Xing Xiaochu was startled again. Gripping the slotted spoon tightly, she turned to Qi Ying in surprise and asked, “Are you sober now?”
Qi Ying remained in that same dazed state, simply hugging Xing Xiaochu from behind and pressing against her softly as she murmured, “Xiaochu…”
Xiaochu let out a relieved sigh. So she was still out of it.
Seeing Qi Ying still mentally foggy but now able to speak, Xiaochu guessed this might be because her rut period was nearing its end. Setting down the utensil, she turned around and cupped Qi Ying’s face, their eyes meeting.
“Jiejie, be honest with me—do you have any other Omegas?” Xiaochu asked cautiously.
Qi Ying’s mind worked slowly, blinking at Xiaochu like a mechanical doll before leaning in to plant a butterfly kiss on the tip of her nose. Then she said softly, “Xiaochu, would you be my wife?”
Xiaochu’s heart skipped a beat as she stared at Qi Ying in shock. “What did you just say?”
Qi Ying repeated, “Xiaochu, would you be my wife?”
