Chapter 28: Took the opportunity to touch my wife! Despicable!
Someone wants to capture his little siblings?
They must have a death wish!
Ling Zhuo’s expression turned cold, and killing intent surged from him. He squeezed the phone in his hand until his knuckles were white, but since he was still on the call, his voice softened. “I know. Don’t be scared. Big brother is coming home right away.”
He comforted his sister and instructed them to hide. Without wasting a second, he tossed Xia Man’s jacket on the back of a chair, grabbed his own, and rushed out of the association headquarters to the station. He moved so quickly and in such an unusual way that no one at the base even noticed him leave.
After leaving Ling Zhuo’s dorm, Motta immediately called his first squad member, Lu Lu, to join him at the emergency mission site. During the ride, his tall, rugged subordinate kept giving him a look that was a mix of hesitation and wanting to speak.
Finally, he couldn’t hold back. “Captain, the group chat says you’re a beast…”
Motta: “???”
His icy gray eyes seemed to naturally carry a sense of aloofness, and Lu Lu, mistaking his look for annoyance, quickly shook his head. “N-nothing…”
He silently prayed that the captain wouldn’t open the group chat.
The mission location was not far, at a large shopping mall about a fifteen-minute drive from the association. In a central open area of the basement-level commercial street, a store was holding a raffle, which had attracted a large crowd.
Before the event started, three students from nearby universities began experiencing shortness of breath and nosebleeds, and then one after another, they fainted. When the patrol staff for the area went to check on them, the three students’ bodies began to twist and swell. After a few minutes of painful struggle, they transformed into three-meter-tall Distorted Creatures, which the patrol staff initially assessed as C-grade.
The association was notified immediately. The area’s Public Security Department also arrived to assist in the crowd’s evacuation, but human curiosity seemed boundless. The ordinary people who had initially panicked saw the gold-earring-wearing association members and the public security officers in uniform blocking the way. Thinking they were no longer in danger, they instead gathered at the stairwell to watch the spectacle.
The two Execution Department members, in their black uniforms and wearing black muzzle-like restraints on their faces, rushed to the scene only to be blocked by this crowd at the stairwell on the first floor.
In the open space, the three Distorted Creatures were looking around for targets. Their faces were split into jagged-toothed grins, and drool constantly dripped from their mouths, driven by a hunger to feed.
The patrol and public security officers formed a circle, constantly retreating to maintain distance. But there were too many people behind them. Someone stumbled and bumped forward, causing a public security officer to be knocked out of the circle and fall at the feet of one of the creatures.
Plop.
A drop of the monster’s saliva landed on the officer’s head. He looked up in terror, locking eyes with the creature that had long since lost its humanity. The cruel gaze of a predator and its disgusting appearance were truly horrifying.
“Ah—!!” The man’s primal fear made him scream, and the onlookers began to panic.
“Ability, A Single Leaf Blinds the Eye!”
Amid the ear-splitting scream, a low, raspy voice commanded. Lu Lu stood on the balcony of the second floor. A faint green light overflowed from his body, forming a translucent barrier that enveloped the space where the three creatures were.
In an instant, the Distorted Creatures vanished from everyone’s sight, as if their eyes had been covered by something.
A single mercury bullet, fired from an unexpected angle, hit and took down the creature closest to the fallen officer with a loud bang. Hot bl00d splashed onto the terrified officer, who was still on the ground. He hadn’t even had time to get up when two more shots rang out, quick and precise, and the other two monsters fell as well.
Only three shots were fired, each one hitting the Distorted Creatures’ neck glands with deadly accuracy, killing them instantly. But the onlookers couldn’t see a thing; they only heard the gunshots and the creatures’ abrupt, cut-off roars.
Motta put his gun away, sitting with one long leg propped up on the second-floor railing. He gestured to Lu Lu below, who immediately turned on the broadcast.
“This is an Execution Department mission in progress. All unauthorized personnel, please evacuate immediately!”
The cold, robotic voice echoed through the plaza. The onlookers, realizing this was an Association mission, immediately began to retreat in an orderly fashion. Federal law clearly states that no individual or organization may interfere with an executioner’s duties; offenders face detention or imprisonment.
They should have cleared the area from the beginning, but the situation had been urgent. A moment later, and the public security officer’s head would have been twisted off. Having to save a life and also prevent civilians from seeing a bloody scene that might cause psychological trauma, Motta had fired all of his shots blind, based only on his memory of the creatures’ positions before Lu Lu activated his ability.
A moment later, the crowd had cleared, and the first floor became quiet. Lu Lu released his ability and flipped down from the upper floor to begin a site investigation. Distorted Creatures don’t just happen; ordinary differentiation is impossible. It must have been caused by the illegal use of catalysts or unauthorized gland transplants.
The event’s organizer would need to be questioned, and they would have to contact the parents and schools of the students who had transformed for further information.
Motta returned home late that night after the work was done. He had just walked in the door and hadn’t even turned on the main light when his second personality’s voice appeared in his mind. “[I demand a meeting!]”
His tone was very forceful. Unusually, the third personality also spoke up, a half-beat later. “[Meeting!]”
He copied the previous personality’s tone perfectly. Even the fourth personality, who almost never spoke, emerged. His hoarse, sharp, metallic voice was concise. “[Meeting.]”
Motta: “…”
“What do you want?”
The third personality was easily led astray, so it was one thing for him to join in, but there was no reason for the fourth personality to get involved. This one was special, built for killing, like a bl00d-stained weapon. He was a man of few words, practically a mute, and was rarely let out. Motta only ever switched to him for especially difficult targets, like Qin Mo.
He asked the question to himself, and the second personality remained insistent. “[What happened today is serious. We must hold a meeting!]”
“?” Motta grew more confused. “While it’s true the Distorted Creatures were students and we need to take it seriously, the association is already investigating. It was most likely outside organizations infiltrating. Once we find the clues, we’ll deal with it. It’s not a big enough deal to warrant a meeting, is it?”
The second personality sneered. “[Hmph, that’s not the issue. Let us out!]”
The third personality copied him. “[Let us out!]”
The fourth personality was brief. “[Out.]”
“…”
Motta fell silent, listening to the voices in his head. He seriously wondered if he was going crazy. But no matter how much he doubted, no one could stand having three voices talking in their head. A moment later, three separate versions of himself, each with a different expression, appeared in the living room and found places to sit.
When he let the fourth personality out, Motta specifically told him to suppress his pheromones, or the entire neighborhood would suffer. His doppelgänger gave him a chilly nod.
“Ahem,” the second personality, who was the most cunning, looked at the others, cleared his throat, and adopted a serious expression. He pointed at Motta and immediately launched into an accusation: “You took the opportunity to touch your wife today. Foul play! We are here to hold a meeting to criticize you!”
The third personality nodded vigorously. “Condemn!”
“…” The fourth personality raised a hand and made a “cutthroat” gesture at his neck.
So this is what “very serious” meant. Motta felt like laughing at the absurdity of it. He narrowed his eyes at his second personality’s form. “You have the nerve to bring that up?”
If he hadn’t stopped him, this shameless guy would have tried to rub against Ling Zhuo’s waist and even lick his gland. Just thinking about it made him angry. He hadn’t even confronted him yet, and now this personality was asking for a scolding.
“Uh…” It was true that he had started it.
The second personality’s forcefulness immediately faltered. But then, as he replayed the beautiful and intoxicating taste of his “wife” from earlier, a smile unknowingly crept onto his face.
“Hehe~” He even chuckled to himself.
His usually stern face softened with a vague, suggestive smile that looked like pure smugness.
That expression was pure provocation. The main body and the other two personalities’ gazes became like knives.
Motta: “Having fun?”
The third personality: “Let’s slaughter him.”
The fourth personality: “Slaughter.”
“…” The target of the meeting’s condemnation had suddenly shifted to himself. The second personality was startled, but his smile only grew wider. He let out a lazy, casual “Oh, come on,” and shot a sidelong glance at his main body. “Aren’t you the one who knows best how much fun it was?”
After all, he was the main body. He felt everything that happened, and the personality had been using his body.
It took the third personality, who hadn’t gotten a taste of it, a few seconds to react. His dagger-like eyes and the fourth personality’s gaze both returned to the main body.
“That’s not fair!”
It turned out they were the only two who hadn’t experienced the feeling of his wife’s smooth skin, his impossibly tender gland, and his taut, flexible muscles.
No, he wanted to cuddle with his wife too!
Motta’s main body: “…”
Wait, is that the point?
Shouldn’t the point be that touching Ling Zhuo’s gland without his consent was unacceptable? What was the difference between that and forcing himself on him? He was so angry with the second personality’s recklessness precisely because his body had felt an incredible pleasure at the time.
What if he had hurt the fox by only thinking about his own satisfaction?
“In short…” Motta sat on the sofa, his face grim, and his voice slowly warned. “Don’t ever do something like that again.”
“Why not? It was very enjoyable, wasn’t it?” The second personality licked his lips. His icy gray eyes filled with a longing and a sense of dissatisfaction with Ling Zhuo. The other two personalities tilted their heads, equally confused as to why it was wrong.
Motta leaned casually on the sofa, his figure tall and sharp. The living room’s main lights were off, and only a few small, dim nightlights cast a yellow glow that partially shrouded him in darkness. He tilted his head slightly, glancing at his doppelgängers. The distinct angles of his handsome face were lit by the nightlight, and his slightly furrowed brow held a very serious expression. He slowly explained, “Because the more you cherish someone, the more respectfully you must treat them.”
He was met with three confused faces.
The second personality: “Cherishing him and wanting him are not mutually exclusive.” He wasn’t like this with just anyone. He had only fallen in love at first sight with the beautiful fox and only acted like this with him.
Motta: Great, this one clearly didn’t get it.
The third personality frowned in a puzzled way. “Then what if I respectfully touch my wife’s tail? Respectfully hug him?”
Motta: Great, this one heard me but obviously didn’t understand the meaning.
The fourth personality crossed his arms, his face cold. “…”
Motta: Great, this one isn’t even listening.
These strange guys are my doppelgängers. I’m doomed!
He was so speechless he didn’t want to talk anymore. The second personality crossed his arms and protested, “Besides, the hickey on his butterfly bone wasn’t my doing. Someone couldn’t control himself, and now he’s saying such sanctimonious things. It’s too much!”
“Too much!” The other two personalities agreed wholeheartedly.
“…”
This blasted meeting. What was left to talk about? The communication difficulty was so immense that Motta honestly wondered if he was holding a meeting with himself.
