My Wife is the Vicious Supporting Character from an Era Novel - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Buried
Wen Miao’s voice is sweetly tender, completely lacking in aggression. Ji Baiqing tries to suppress a smile, then speaks seriously, “It’s late. You must be tired. Go take a shower. We have to get up early tomorrow.”
Wen Miao’s gaze falls on Ji Baiqing’s ankle, and a worried expression crosses her face. “Your foot is hurt. You shouldn’t get it wet. How are you going to shower?”
Seeing the genuine concern in Wen Miao’s eyes, Ji Baiqing’s smile deepens. “Well, you could help me. That way, I won’t get my foot wet.”
Ji Baiqing said this to tease Wen Miao, whom she knows very well. Before they were officially together, Wen Miao was all over her, full of kisses and hugs. But now that they are an item, Wen Miao has become surprisingly shy, often rejecting Ji Baiqing’s advances.
To Ji Baiqing’s surprise, Wen Miao takes a moment to think and then nods seriously. “Okay, I’ll help you.”
Ji Baiqing can’t believe her ears. Seeing the blush on Wen Miao’s face, she can’t help but let out a soft laugh. She feels a pang of regret that she doesn’t have a bathtub, but having Wen Miao help her shower is enough for now.
A hurt foot is indeed inconvenient. Wen Miao, being small and not very strong, can’t carry a full bucket of hot water, so she slowly carries it in two half-buckets. Ji Baiqing watches anxiously, afraid that Wen Miao will spill the water and burn herself. Once the hot water is in the bathroom, Wen Miao has to bring in cold water. Ji Baiqing is glad she filled the water tank in the morning, otherwise she would have worried even more.
As Wen Miao gets everything ready, Ji Baiqing starts to feel nervous herself. Wen Miao helps her to the bathroom. The dim light from the flashlight makes the rustling sound of clothes more intimate. Ji Baiqing takes off her shirt, and Wen Miao helps her take off her pants. The small space brings them closer together, with Ji Baiqing naked and Wen Miao fully clothed. Wen Miao places Ji Baiqing’s leg on a stool and wraps the ankle in waterproof paper. Ji Baiqing catches Wen Miao’s eye and sees her blushing and looking away, which makes her feel a little better.
“Okay, I’m ready,” Ji Baiqing says, clearing her throat.
Wen Miao quietly takes a cup, tells Ji Baiqing to bow her head, and starts washing her hair. After wetting Ji Baiqing’s hair and applying shampoo, she gently massages Ji Baiqing’s scalp, her fingers moving in small circles. The massage feels good, but Ji Baiqing’s neck is starting to hurt from bending.
Once Ji Baiqing’s hair is washed, Wen Miao ties it up and prepares to wash her body. She uses her favorite scented soap, rubbing it in her hands to make a lather. Then she applies the foam to Ji Baiqing’s body, starting from her neck, then shoulders, and moving down. Her touches are soft, almost as if she is teasing her. Ji Baiqing blushes and finally grabs Wen Miao’s wrist, her eyes flushed. “Okay, wife, stop teasing me and just wash me.”
Wen Miao responds softly and quickly rinses the foam off. Ji Baiqing dries herself off and puts on a nightgown. The whole ordeal is finally over. In the room, she opens the window to let her hair dry. She thinks about what just happened and feels a little frustrated that Wen Miao was teasing her and taking advantage of her injury. She decides she will teach her a lesson later.
When Wen Miao returns after her shower, Ji Baiqing’s hair is almost dry. She hops onto the bed and beckons Wen Miao over. Wen Miao places the flashlight on the table, brightening the room. “The batteries need to be changed,” she says.
She walks to the bed, and Ji Baiqing takes the towel from her shoulder and gently dries her hair. After making sure her hair isn’t dripping wet, she says, “Zhenzhen, you’ve seen me naked. You have to take responsibility.”
Wen Miao is confused. She purses her lips. “I didn’t look carefully.” She says this with a hint of guilt. While she didn’t see everything, she did see Ji Baiqing’s well-toned body and long legs.
Ji Baiqing squints her eyes and lets out a long hum. “Hmm?”
Wen Miao, feeling guilty, finally gives in. “Fine. What do you want me to do?”
Ji Baiqing’s eyes are full of mischief. She glances at Wen Miao’s chest and says in a teasing voice, “Let me see you, and we’ll be even.”
Wen Miao lightly slaps her face. The scent of her perfume wafts to Ji Baiqing’s nose, and she inhales it with a hint of adoration. “So fragrant,” she thinks.
“You haven’t slapped the other side of my face yet,” Ji Baiqing says lazily.
Wen Miao glares at her, locks the door, and pulls the curtains shut. She then slowly lifts her shirt, revealing her fair and slender waist. Ji Baiqing holds her breath. But before she can see everything, Wen Miao throws the shirt in her face.
“You pervert,” Wen Miao says as she rolls away, her eyes wide.
Ji Baiqing grinds her teeth. She pounces on Wen Miao and slides her hands under her shirt, grabbing her br3asts. She mimics Wen Miao’s earlier movements, touching and teasing her without any clear purpose. Wen Miao gasps, her eyelashes fluttering, and a soft moan escapes her lips.
“Stop, stop, A Qing,” she pleads, her voice a little choked.
Ji Baiqing doesn’t listen. She grabs Wen Miao’s chin and forcefully kisses her, invading her mouth. Wen Miao’s body goes limp as Ji Baiqing takes control. She feels a tingling sensation run down her spine, and her mind goes blank. She grabs Ji Baiqing’s shoulders, her knuckles turning white, and finally pulls on her hair weakly. Ji Baiqing gets the hint and releases her.
Wen Miao is soft like water, her eyes unfocused. Ji Baiqing smiles. She plays with Wen Miao’s hair and asks in a gentle voice, “Will you let me see you now?”
Wen Miao’s mind is a blank. She just nods her head. Ji Baiqing pulls off Wen Miao’s clothes and is stunned by the sight of her br3asts. Wen Miao looks so fair, soft, and fragrant. She buries her face in Wen Miao’s chest. She feels as if she is in a soft cloud. All her pain from her ankle disappears, replaced by the feeling of being with Wen Miao.
Wen Miao, now fully conscious, feels a rush of embarrassment. She pulls Ji Baiqing’s ear. “Ji Baiqing, get off me!” she yells.
Ji Baiqing covers her face, rolls over, and lies on the bed like a salted fish. Her face is flushed. She licks her lips, still savoring the moment.
Wen Miao puts on her clothes. Her chest feels sore and swollen, and she can see red fingerprints left by Ji Baiqing’s touch. She throws a blanket over Ji Baiqing’s face. “You’re so annoying, Ji Baiqing!” she says in a shaky voice. She turns off the lights and gets into bed, sulking. Ji Baiqing hugs her like a koala bear. “Wife~ are you not feeling well?” she asks.
Wen Miao feels her ears getting hot. “Shut up,” she says. Ji Baiqing touches her nose. “Okay, okay. I’ll shut up.” At least Wen Miao didn’t push her away. She has to get used to these kinds of things.
The next day, Ji Baiqing feels her ankle is much better. When she wakes up, Wen Miao is not in bed. She gets up and walks out, a little confused. She smells something good, like noodles. Wen Miao comes out with a bowl of noodles and puts it on the table. She blows on her red hands and tells Ji Baiqing to eat quickly so she can go to work.
Ji Baiqing looks at Wen Miao’s red hands. She wants to help. “Let me carry it,” she says. Wen Miao tells her to rest and not do anything until her foot is completely healed. After they eat, Wen Miao takes the bike out and tells Ji Baiqing to sit on the back.
Ji Baiqing is worried. Wen Miao wears a short-sleeved shirt and pants today. Her arms are so thin, and Ji Baiqing is afraid they will both fall. But she can’t ride the bike, so she gets on the back and wraps her arms around Wen Miao’s waist.
“Okay, let’s go,” she says. Wen Miao is serious. Her hands on the handlebars are white. She is afraid of hurting Ji Baiqing. The bike wobbles and almost falls into a field. Ji Baiqing is nervous. “Zhenzhen, don’t shake. Look straight ahead. Be bold! Ah!” she says.
Wen Miao is a little annoyed. “Stop talking. You’re messing with my head,” she says.
Ji Baiqing has no idea how emotions play a role in riding a bike, but she shuts up to avoid any accidents. After a while, Wen Miao gets the hang of it, and the bike rides smoothly. Ji Baiqing can finally relax.
At the slaughterhouse, Wen Miao gives Zhou Gang a few cents and tells him that Ji Baiqing is hurt and needs his help. Before leaving, she tells Ji Baiqing not to push herself and to rest if she needs to. Ji Baiqing, being a good wife-lover, nods obediently.
But Wen Miao’s worry is not without reason. After slaughtering the pig, Ji Baiqing’s ankle starts to hurt again. She tells Zhou Gang to get her a stool so she can sit while she cuts the meat. Zhou Gang also helps her with the cart.
Wen Miao watches as Ji Baiqing cuts the meat. She asks for the knife to try it herself, but Ji Baiqing quickly takes it back. “I’ll do the cutting. You take the money. Don’t mess with the knife, or you’ll cut your hand,” she says. Wen Miao pouts and reluctantly agrees.
Later, they see Shen Niannian standing in front of their stall. Wen Miao rolls her eyes. Shen Niannian is embarrassed but buys a small piece of pork. She tries to get Ji Baiqing to give her a little more, but Ji Baiqing gives her the exact amount she asked for. Shen Niannian, annoyed, pays and walks away.
Later, as they are packing up, Wen Miao notices that Shen Niannian is still there. She quickens her pace, hoping to avoid her, but Shen Niannian catches up with them. She tells Wen Miao to go away because she wants to talk to Ji Baiqing alone. Wen Miao refuses. Ji Baiqing is impatient. “What do you want?” she asks. “We have to go.”
Shen Niannian quickly tells them her plan. She wants to buy five pounds of pork a day for a higher price without a ticket. Ji Baiqing is confused. “Are you sick? Your words don’t make any sense. Why should I risk my job for you? You have a lot of nerve.”
Wen Miao’s expression is one of disbelief. Shen Niannian raises her offer to two yuan a pound and says she can help Ji Baiqing get into her business. She thinks she is making a good offer, but Ji Baiqing finds it ridiculous. She doesn’t have a protagonist’s halo. She doesn’t want to risk going to jail.
Wen Miao tells Shen Niannian that Ji Baiqing will not agree. Shen Niannian gets angry. “Why are you speaking for her? And you’re a jinx! I won’t get caught!”
Ji Baiqing tells Shen Niannian that Wen Miao’s words are hers. She gets on the bike with Wen Miao, and they leave. Shen Niannian’s face twists in anger. She hears a sharpening sound from the back of the warehouse and goes to investigate. She sees a skinny man sharpening a knife. She smiles and asks him if he is a butcher. The man, Zhou Gang, blushes and says he is just a handyman.
Shen Niannian tells him that he looks more skilled than the woman who sells pork. She then tells him that her grandma is dying and wants to eat pork, but she doesn’t have a meat ticket. She asks him to sell her five pounds of pork for a higher price. Zhou Gang hesitates, but Shen Niannian starts crying. He promises to try. Shen Niannian smiles brightly. “Thank you, brother! I’ll come back again.”
She then meets up with Lu Yan, who asks her if she got the pork. She smiles and tells him that she did. He tells her that they should eat the meat themselves and not share it with others, but she insists on sharing some with Fang Haiyang. Lu Yan says that it’s just Fang Haiyang’s way of trying to get on his good side. Shen Niannian agrees and tells him that she will do whatever he says.
