Oh No, My Tail Has Been Seen! - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
â—ŽA little too sexy.â—Ž
The moonlight was concealed behind layers of clouds, casting a faint, hazy glow that made the silent pond water as clear as a mirror.
A rapid “pat-pat-pat” of footsteps broke the tranquility of the night.
“I found you.”
A young girl’s clear and naive voice was amplified infinitely by the empty space around the pool.
A breeze swept by, and the water in the pond instantly came alive, its surface shimmering like scattered diamonds, brilliant and dazzling.
But other than that, there was no other movement.
The little girl, seeing no one emerge after a long time, couldn’t help but frown. She anxiously raised her chubby little arm, her index finger pointing at the water.
“In the water.”
Now that I’ve pointed you out, you can’t run away this time.
The little girl proudly put her hands on her hips and walked to the edge of the pool, lowering her head to look for the person in the water.
But the next second, her shoulder was tapped, and a clear laugh rang out above her head.
“Wrong guess.”
“Ah!” The little girl was startled and her foot slipped, causing her to fall straight into the water.
Losing her balance made her panic for a moment. She instinctively grabbed the hand that had just tapped her shoulder.
Then, Su Miao was also pulled into the water.
With two “splashes,” they both fell in.
Unlike normal people, they were very calm after entering the water, without any struggle. After a while, the little girl’s head emerged from the water.
“My clothes are all wet,” the little girl grumbled with a frown, without panting desperately like someone who had almost drowned. She was annoyed that Su Miao hadn’t resurfaced yet.
Thinking that Su Miao was the culprit who got her clothes wet, she angrily wanted to slap the big, white fish tail next to her with her short little hand.
The tail felt her hand approaching and immediately dodged. Su Miao, who was still underwater, surfaced.
The little girl looked at her.
Her anger was instantly cut in half.
Even after seeing it countless times, she was completely defenseless against Sister Su Miao’s face. Her blonde hair gave off a unique glow in the moonlight, and her face was more delicate than any of her dolls.
Seeing the little girl staring at her in a daze, Su Miao reached out and rubbed her round little face to make her snap out of it.
“Tong Yao? You weren’t so scared you became stupid from falling into the water, were you?”
Su Miao’s touch wasn’t hard, but it was enough to make her clear-headed.
The little girl, named Tong Yao, pushed away Su Miao’s mischievous hand and pouted, putting her hands on her hips. “You promised me that if I found you in hide-and-seek, you’d tell me your story.“
A child’s temper is so hard to deal with. I came out first. She clearly didn’t find me.
But Su Miao felt sorry for the child. Seeing how persistent she was, she decided to tell her the story.
“Have you heard the story of the Little Mermaid?” Su Miao’s lips curved as if she was reminiscing.
The beach, the mermaid, and a kind human.
Hearing this, Tong Yao carefully recalled the story of the Little Mermaid. She frowned slightly. Among all the fairy tales her teacher had told, she disliked this one the most. The Little Mermaid, who only ever gave, didn’t even receive any love in return. It was so tragic.
“I’ve heard it. It’s the bad example my teacher told us in class.” She suddenly looked at Su Miao with concern in her eyes. Her small hands clenched and unclenched as if she were hesitating.
Even though Sister Su Miao teases me from time to time, I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.
“Hmm, it has nothing to do with that.”
“?”
The little girl’s mouth fell open, her face a picture of shock.
Ugh, Sister Su Miao tricked me again!
Su Miao patted her on the shoulder and walked past her toward the edge of the pool. Her fishtail instantly transformed back into human legs, which were straight and slender. She walked up the steps one by one.
“This isn’t a fairy tale. There aren’t so many stories about love. I haven’t even been in a relationship yet.”
As she spoke, she seemed to remember something. Her expression became a little nervous. She quickly went to the glass table and picked up her phone. She saw a new message and stared at the screen intently. Once she saw what it said, her expression relaxed.
A deeper smile spread across her lips.
“But I think I’m about to.”
“Hmm?”
Su Miao didn’t explain. She turned around and elegantly held out her hand to her, gesturing for her to come up quickly. “If you don’t get out and back to bed, Mom will scold you again.”
As soon as she heard that her mom would scold her, Tong Yao immediately panicked. She swam toward Su Miao with her tail swaying. When she grabbed her hand, she used her tail to give one last strong push, jumping back onto the ground. Similarly, her legs transformed back the moment she landed.
She looked at the clock hanging in the distance. It was almost nine. Her mom would be back soon. She didn’t have time to argue with her about getting her clothes wet. She ran straight back to her room.
Su Miao watched her short legs run up the stairs with all their might. Only when the light near the door on the second floor turned on did she look back at her phone.
Chen Yin: “I have some new insider information. Your resume has been selected by Rising Star Entertainment. When you become a big star, remember to sign a few more autographs for me. Excited.jpg”
Chen Yin was about to graduate from college. She was studying to be an agent, and her internship was at Rising Star Entertainment. She often heard a lot of insider news.
Seeing that the message had been sent two minutes ago and couldn’t be unsent, Su Miao replied.
Su Miao: “Go check your homework from elementary school. I signed more than half of it.”
The person on the other side replied instantly.
First, an angry cat head.
Chen Yin: “You didn’t even sign your own name back then. I don’t count that. By the way, I have a piece of gossip. Lin Xin overheard it in the bathroom.”
Su Miao: “A smelly piece of gossip. I don’t want to hear it. Disgusted.jpg”
Chen Yin: “It’s about Bai Jin. Are you sure you don’t want to hear it? Gotcha.jpg”
Su Miao’s finger hovering over the phone screen trembled. Luckily, she was holding it steady, or it would have been the first phone she ever broke.
She took a deep breath and quickly typed a reply.
Su Miao: “I’ll listen.”
Chen Yin’s name quickly changed to “typing…” Su Miao silently counted the seconds as she watched the words.
She was typing for a whole minute.
Chen Yin: “I heard that Bai Jin will also be choosing a new artist from this batch of applicants and will be taking the new artist to a reality show that’s been gaining a lot of buzz recently.”
She’s taking on a new artist. Su Miao’s pupils widened slightly when she heard this.
In the two years she had been an agent, she had only produced one Movie Queen, An Yixin. With the resources she had and the fact that she had just ended her contract with An Yixin, many people should have been recommending high-quality artists to her. But who would have thought that she would choose from the newcomers?
Su Miao couldn’t figure it out, but this was undoubtedly a great opportunity for her.
Chen Yin: “She’ll be at the company tomorrow to select a new artist. A notification should be sent out later.”
Chen Yin: “I know how you feel about her… But it’s been so many years. So many people are chasing after you. Why do you have to be hung up on her?”
Su Miao silently read the string of words.
Yeah, why?
It wasn’t that she hadn’t tried before. Unfortunately, she was rejected directly. Now that she was approaching her again, would the outcome be the same?
She couldn’t be sure.
But deep down, she felt that she should try one last time. If it didn’t work out, it meant they were not meant to be, and she could finally move on.
Su Miao: “I can hold on a little longer.”
Just a little longer.
They said that a fish’s memory only lasted seven seconds, but she was a mermaid. In addition to a fish’s traits, a human’s sentimentality was also fully reflected in her.
She couldn’t just cut ties with the person she ached for every time she thought of her.
After sending the message, Su Miao walked back to her room. After washing up, she lay back on her bed, her fingers sliding across the screen, but she wasn’t paying attention to the content. It wasn’t until she received an email that her eyes lit up.
An offer letter from Rising Star Entertainment.
Being signed meant she had a chance to become an artist under Bai Jin.
She had only wanted to sign with an agency, but now with the insider information from Chen Yin, it felt like an incredible surprise.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, she received another interview invitation.
The message was short and clear: If she was interested in becoming Bai Jin’s artist, she should come to the company for an interview at nine tomorrow morning. If not, the company would assign her a suitable agent based on her characteristics.
But Su Miao noticed that the sender was Bai Jin.
This message was written by Bai Jin.
She didn’t know if this was her phone number.
That’s what she thought, but her finger honestly saved the contact.
Nine was an early start for her. She had to go to bed early tonight.
Su Miao set her alarm and put her phone aside, closing her eyes and trying to fall asleep.
But for some reason, she just couldn’t fall asleep that night.
“Calm down, calm down…” After a series of self-assurances, Su Miao sat up, kicked on her white fluffy slippers, and walked straight to her closet. The closet was custom-made, with a whole wall of her clothes, all recently bought. There were clothes for every style and occasion.
On a normal day, with Su Miao’s confidence, she could grab any outfit and look great. But now, the thought of seeing that person made her inexplicably cautious. By the time she came to her senses, she was holding several outfits.
She laid the clothes flat on the bed and tried them on one by one.
Some of them are a little too sexy.
This one is too cute.
…
After trying on a round of clothes, Su Miao was a little tired. She collapsed onto the bed full of clothes, hugging a knee-length, light-blue dress. She had just tried it on, and it looked pretty good.
More importantly, on that summer day, she was also wearing a dress of a similar style, holding a love letter to confess to the person she had been longing for. Unfortunately, in the end, she didn’t even hear a rejection.
She couldn’t say what mindset led her to choose this dress, but she was firm in her heart that if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t regret that day’s confession.
Just like now, she didn’t regret coming to a point where she had to make another choice.
Maybe it was because she was tired from staying up late, but the long-dormant memories began to stir. Su Miao’s head started to feel dizzy, and she quickly fell into a deep sleep.
