Oh No, My Tail Has Been Seen! - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
â—ŽLoveâ—Ž
Bai Jin was probably just being humble. Everyone wanted to be favored by an agent who was publicly thanked by a Film Queen. Thinking this, Su Miao felt lucky that she was chosen by Bai Jin.
Although Su Miao didn’t agree with what she said, she still nodded in response. “But you were guiding me remotely while you were away, and that’s why I didn’t make as many mistakes.”
Bai Jin frowned slightly. She was about to say something, but they were about to walk into the crowd, and cameras were already set up, so she fell silent.
The new actors and agents who had arrived earlier consciously stood in a row. Su Miao and Bai Jin, being the last to arrive, stood on the far left.
“Don’t worry, you’re not late.” Xu Sheng saw that Su Miao’s expression wasn’t great and quietly leaned in to remind her.
Huh? Su Miao was stunned for a moment but quickly understood what she meant. She meant that her expression wasn’t good, which would cause others to misunderstand. When she was rushing over, she had checked the time. They would arrive right on time, but they wouldn’t be late. Here, everyone was a new actor. Who would dare to act like a big shot and be late? Even though Bai Jin was a top agent, she would still try her best to arrive within the time arranged by the production crew.
“I know.” Su Miao smiled, and her expression relaxed. She wasn’t upset just now. She was just thinking about how hard it was to be Bai Jin’s artist and how she wanted to cherish it.
“Okay, all the guests are here.” The host, dressed in a white tracksuit, walked out from a group of staff members. She walked straight toward Su Miao and Bai Jin and stopped.
“This must be Bai Jin. Everyone has been waiting for you,” the host said with a smile. “Last time, everyone introduced themselves, and now you’re the only one left.” Su Miao secretly looked at Bai Jin. She wondered what Bai Jin was like on camera. The last time, at the Magnolia Awards, she was publicly thanked, and her expression was also cold, making it impossible to tell her emotions.
Now, she looked at her from the side, and Bai Jin nodded toward the camera, the corners of her mouth slightly lifted, but her smile was not obvious. However, compared to her usual tense state, she was already very relaxed.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Bai Jin.” She then turned and looked at the row of guests, as if greeting them with her eyes. “I’m Su Miao’s agent. It’s a pleasure to meet you all. I was dealing with some things for the past three days, so I missed spending time with you all. Thankfully, I made it.”
Her tone was very flat. You couldn’t tell that she was happy, but Su Miao felt that she was being very respectful. Bai Jin was a humble person after all. After she said that, the row of guests all expressed their understanding. As a top agent, it was expected for Bai Jin to be busy.
But for some reason, when Su Miao heard Bai Jin introduce herself as her agent, she felt a little happy. It was as if she belonged to her. I wish she could be my agent forever.
“Welcome, Bai Jin, to our team.” The host led the applause, and soon the whole place was filled with applause. Su Miao also smiled and clapped.
“Look how happy Su Miao is to see you.” The host suddenly looked at Su Miao and called her out. Su Miao, who was suddenly called out, was stunned. She didn’t know whether she should continue clapping, so her hands stopped in mid-air. After a quick thought, she said, “My agent is here. I’m finally not alone here anymore.” She had been teased about being all alone before. Now all those labels could be removed.
After the pleasantries were over, the host had the production crew bring out the props. After the venue was set up, they started drawing lots. “We’ll go up in the order we draw. The people who draw numbers five and ten will be at the end of the team and will be the last to guess the answer. Numbers one through five are the first team, and six through ten are the second team.”
They drew lots in order from where the host was standing. Bai Jin was the first to draw, followed by Su Miao. Bai Jin drew a ten. I hope we’re on the same team. Su Miao prayed as she reached into the lottery box and randomly pulled out a six. They were indeed on the same team, but one was at the front of the team, and the other was at the end. The rest of the people also drew their numbers one after another. After Su Miao was Zhang Linyu’s agent, followed by Xu Sheng and Zhang Linyu.
“We have the advantage. There are three actors on our side,” Zhang Linyu said to her agent, Ye Qian, jokingly after seeing the results. Ye Qian just smiled mysteriously. “As agents, we have just as much training as you actors. If you don’t believe me, ask Bai Jin. We’re classmates.”
Classmates? Were they college classmates? Su Miao was intrigued by her words. She and Bai Jin were in the same high school. When she was a freshman, Bai Jin was already a senior, and she watched her graduate and leave. After Bai Jin graduated, Su Miao learned from a senior she knew that Bai Jin had gone abroad to study art, but she rarely kept in touch with her old classmates, so even her classmates didn’t know what school she went to. At that time, Su Miao cried for a month, and her eyes were swollen like a goldfish’s, but she slowly recovered. She also gradually learned to let go. Later, because Su Miao was studying acting, she had a chance to enter the entertainment industry and found out that Bai Jin was now an agent, and her artists were all top-tier. She would be an actress in the future, and her profession aligned with Bai Jin’s. The heart that had been silent for a long time gradually began to feel a renewed impulse.
“That’s true,” Bai Jin said, looking at Ye Qian and then at Zhang Linyu with a knowing look. “But this is just a game, and you never know what’s going to happen. Sometimes, all the preparation in the world can’t beat someone who gets a lucky break at the start.”
Zhang Linyu just smiled awkwardly. “You’re right.”
It was a very simple conversation, but Su Miao could feel that everyone had something on their minds, but she didn’t quite understand. When she looked at Bai Jin in confusion, she unexpectedly met her gaze. Bai Jin’s eyes were so deep that Su Miao couldn’t read her emotions, but the slight smile on her face made her feel a sense of comfort. Is she concerned about me? Does that mean the conversation just now was about me? Su Miao thought about it for a moment but still had no idea. It seemed Bai Jin didn’t plan to explain, so she just let it go. Anyway, with Bai Jin by her side, she didn’t have to worry about being bullied.
After the small talk, everyone stood on two sides according to their teams and order. The host stood in the middle of the two teams.
“Alright, now it’s time to talk trash,” the host said, gesturing for the “1-5” team on the left to go first. “First, tell us your team name, and second, what do you want to say to the opposing team.”
Li Yaxun, as the team representative, said, “We’re the ‘Must-Win’ team. No matter what you can do, bring it on. We’re going to be the winners in the end anyway.” She didn’t seem like the type to talk trash, so her words weren’t very threatening, but she at least fully expressed her point.
“We’re the ‘Definitely-Gonna-Win’ team,” Zhang Linyu said first, raising her fist and making a cheer with a determined look on her face. “We never even considered losing.”
“Then today we’ll teach you how to lose,” Li Yaxun said, quickly snapping back.
Zhang Linyu also said with a fighting spirit, “Then we’ll see after the game.”
The host saw that the mood was just right and stepped in. “Okay, I can see that everyone is full of fighting spirit and is ready. Now, let’s have the ‘Definitely-Gonna-Win’ team start the game.”
Su Miao, as the first person and the only one who could see the word, naturally had the most important job. She stood at the front, separated from the second person, Ye Qian, by a board. The host walked to Su Miao with a card and flipped to the first page. There were two words written on it.
Lover.
After making sure Su Miao saw the words, the host put the card away and gestured for Su Miao to turn around and start the game. As she turned, Su Miao began to think about how to convey the message. When she saw Ye Qian, she held up two fingers, indicating it was a two-word phrase.
Ye Qian, who was wearing headphones, understood Su Miao’s gesture and said, “Two words.”
Su Miao nodded vigorously, confirming her guess. Then she made a heart gesture toward Ye Qian. The other guests saw this and started to get excited. Is she confessing? Ye Qian imitated Su Miao’s gesture and tentatively asked, “Love, a romantic relationship, a confession?”
Su Miao shook her head at all those answers. She had to try a new way. She pointed to Ye Qian, then to herself, and then made a heart gesture again. Ye Qian frowned and thought for a moment. If they ruled out what she had already said, there weren’t many words left that had to do with love. She continued to guess. “Lover, romantic partner, boyfriend/girlfriend?”
When Ye Qian said that, the people next to her gasped. Did she guess it so easily? Su Miao quickly and vigorously nodded and held up two fingers, indicating that the second answer was correct.
“Lover?” Ye Qian said as the board slowly moved, about to separate them. Su Miao kept nodding and saying, “Right.” Ye Qian immediately understood and started the next round of passing the word. The rest of the people followed Su Miao’s pattern. Xu Sheng was able to say “lover,” but when it got to Zhang Linyu, she couldn’t understand Xu Sheng’s gestures. The final answer she came up with was love. It was very close, but still wrong.
When Zhang Linyu was conveying the message to Bai Jin, she was under the impression that the final answer was “love.” So when Bai Jin guessed “love,” she confirmed it.
“Bai Jin, now tell me, what was the final answer?” The host walked over to Bai Jin with the card she had shown Su Miao.
