Oh No, My Tail Has Been Seen! - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
â—ŽI Like This Kindâ—Ž
After closing the door, Su Miao changed into a set of pajamas and lay down on the bed. As soon as she touched the bed, she was so tired she fell asleep.
The next day, when Su Miao was getting ready to go to the restaurant for breakfast, she specifically messaged Bai Jin to ask what she usually had for breakfast.
Su Miao: I’m about to make breakfast. What would you like to eat?
There was another special reason for asking this question. She wanted to know if Bai Jin was still in the room next door. That day, they were in the same car, but during her nap, Bai Jin left first. So now, she always had a subtle feeling that Bai Jin would leave first because of other artists.
Bai Jin: Milk and eggs are fine.
Bai Jin replied very quickly, almost instantly. She must be up already but not out of her room yet. As an agent, she didn’t need to worry about being on camera. Su Miao also wondered if Bai Jin didn’t like being in front of the camera, so it was better to ask first.
Su Miao: Should I bring it to your room when I’m done?
Bai Jin: No need. I’ll come to the restaurant myself. Just let me know when it’s ready.
Su Miao: Got it.jpg
When she thought about making breakfast for Bai Jin, Su Miao was full of motivation. But as soon as she stepped out of her room, she suddenly thought of another problem. She wasn’t very good at cooking. She looked at her phone again. The two things Bai Jin mentioned didn’t require any skills, so it should be fine.
The restaurant was empty. Su Miao was secretly relieved. Her ugly cooking skills should not be seen by anyone. The last time she made breakfast, she also made some for Xu Sheng. This time, she also asked Xu Sheng before she left her room. Xu Sheng said she hadn’t gotten up yet and was feeling a little under the weather and would get up later. Since she was sick, it was only right to take care of her. Su Miao left her a message that she would make a portion for her and put it in the thermal bag so she could eat it whenever she woke up.
First, she had to prepare Bai Jin’s milk and eggs. Milk was simple. She just had to warm it up in the microwave. Then she just had to fry an egg. She had no problem frying an egg for a sandwich last time, but this time, for some reason, it didn’t look good. She wanted to fry a runny egg, but she broke the yolk. This first fried egg didn’t look good, so she would eat it herself. She fried four eggs in a row, and finally, on the fourth one, it looked like a proper fried egg. But she looked at her plate, and there were three ugly-looking fried eggs on it. But with her appetite, she could finish them all, so it wasn’t a waste.
She was going to make a sandwich for herself, but she had enough to eat with the fried eggs. So she put Bai Jin’s breakfast and her own on the table, and put the sandwich she made for Xu Sheng in the thermal bag. After she was done, she pulled out a chair and sat down. Then she messaged Bai Jin.
Su Miao: The cute fried egg is waiting for your presence~
Su Miao also took a picture of the fried egg, put a cute emoji on it, and sent it to Bai Jin.
Bai Jin: Got it.jpg
The emoji looked so familiar. Su Miao scrolled up and saw that it was one of her favorite emojis. A little white radish wiggling and dancing with the words “Got it” on top. But this emoji was so out of character for Bai Jin. She couldn’t connect it to Bai Jin’s cold face. She didn’t feel anything when she used it herself, but seeing Bai Jin use it now made her laugh out loud.
“What’s so funny?”
“Huh?” Su Miao followed the voice. Bai Jin was standing in front of her, looking down at her. “Ah!” Su Miao immediately turned off her phone screen guiltily. How could she say it was because she was using her emoji? “Nothing, nothing.” Su Miao hesitated for a moment and couldn’t find a good excuse. She just decided to brush it off. Thankfully, Bai Jin didn’t press for a reason. She pulled out a chair and sat down opposite Su Miao.
“Thank you for breakfast.” Bai Jin first looked at the perfect fried egg in front of her, then at the three strange-looking fried eggs in front of Su Miao. She seemed to have thought of something. She picked up the milk and took a sip.
“Morning, Su Miao.” Xu Sheng walked into the restaurant. She had just received a message from Su Miao that she was making breakfast for her, so she struggled to get up. Her cold didn’t seem so serious anymore. When she entered the restaurant, she immediately saw Bai Jin sitting opposite Su Miao. When she saw the breakfast in front of her, she realized that Su Miao wasn’t just making breakfast for her.
Xu Sheng’s quick steps paused, but she still walked to Su Miao’s side and sat down. She looked up at Bai Jin, who had just put down her glass, and smiled. “Hello, Agent Bai.”
“Hello,” Bai Jin said, her voice flat and unreadable.
“You still sound a little nasally. Your cold isn’t better yet, is it?” Su Miao felt that the atmosphere was a little strange, but she had invited them both here, and when she told them she was making breakfast, she never thought the atmosphere would be this awkward. She stood up and went to the thermal bag to get the breakfast she had prepared for Xu Sheng.
“It’s not better yet, but it’s not a big deal. I’m just a little stuffy now.” Xu Sheng turned around and watched Su Miao’s actions.
“It’s still a sandwich today. I was going to make congee, but I looked at the tutorial and it seemed like it would take a while to learn, so I just made a sandwich again.” Su Miao put the breakfast in front of Xu Sheng and sat back down.
“Your sandwich is already very good. I love it. It has eggs and meat. It’s very healthy,” Xu Sheng said, glancing at Bai Jin opposite her. Bai Jin didn’t pay any attention to her. She just looked at the fried eggs in front of Su Miao, deep in thought. Xu Sheng was already eating, but Bai Jin hadn’t touched hers. Does she think the fried egg is too plain? Why is she still looking at my fried eggs? Su Miao was full of questions. Is she worried that it doesn’t taste good? Thinking this, Su Miao picked up a fork and tried to take a bite in front of Bai Jin.
But before she could touch the fried egg, Bai Jin reached out and took her plate, placing it in front of herself. “I’ll eat this one,” Bai Jin said, then pushed her own perfectly fried egg toward Su Miao.
“Why?” Su Miao’s face showed a bit of sadness as she looked at the fried egg that had been “returned.” It was the egg she had worked so hard to fry a few times to make it look good. Bai Jin didn’t give her a chance to protest and immediately used her fork to poke a piece and put it in her mouth.
“I like this kind,” Bai Jin said. After chewing for a few bites, she suddenly stopped, but a few seconds later, she went back to normal and lowered her head to eat.
“Okay then.” Anyway, she was happy just to see Bai Jin eat something she had made. Su Miao took a small bite of the fried egg she was supposed to eat. With just the first bite, she realized the problem. She had forgotten to add salt. The taste was very bland and had a fishy taste from the egg. She looked up at Bai Jin. Bai Jin was slowly looking at her phone with one hand and poking the fried egg into her mouth with the other. She looked so at ease. Does Bai Jin not put salt on her food? Is this Bai Jin’s normal taste? Su Miao was a little confused, but Bai Jin was eating it so naturally, as if not putting salt on it was no problem. After thinking about it, she decided not to ask, so as not to seem so strange herself.
Xu Sheng silently watched and listened to their interaction. Yesterday, she heard Bai Jin say that she would drink for her artist, and today, she saw her give the good breakfast back to Su Miao. Are agents this caring for their artists now?
Moreover, they were an agent and an artist with unequal status. A top agent was never short on artists, and it was already difficult for a new artist to get a top agent’s attention. What’s more, from the looks of it, Bai Jin was taking care of Su Miao in every way. She had a feeling that their relationship was a little more than it seemed.
Before they could finish breakfast, other guests started to arrive. The awkward atmosphere between the three of them immediately disappeared, and everyone sat around the table, eating breakfast and chatting happily.
After breakfast, Su Miao found an empty study room and started reading her script. Unlike last time, Bai Jin was next to her. She was handling work on her tablet and occasionally had to go out to make a phone call. Most of the time, the two of them were quietly in the same room, doing their own things.
She didn’t have many lines, so she read the script over and over again, about four or five times, and was able to quietly recite the difficult lines in her head. It was getting a little boring, so Su Miao quietly moved the script down and looked at Bai Jin, who was looking at a document.
She was very focused on her work. Her eyes were sharp as if she could see through everything. She seemed to be looking at a document, occasionally circling and adding notes. She was so focused that Su Miao was able to watch her quietly without being noticed.
Actually, living like this isn’t bad. This was the scene she had imagined before her confession in high school. At that time, she was thinking about how they would live if Bai Jin said yes. She thought of a lot of things. Bai Jin looked cold, so she definitely wouldn’t say things like “honey, I miss you so much.” So the most likely scenario was that she would lean on Bai Jin, and they would be snuggled up on the sofa while Bai Jin was focused on reading a book. Sometimes, when she got bored, she would rub against Bai Jin’s shoulder, trying to get her attention. Bai Jin would then lovingly pat her head and pull her into her arms.
“Su Miao?” Bai Jin’s voice pulled her back to reality from her imagination.
“Huh?” She quickly sat up, her eyes a little dazed as she looked at Bai Jin. Oh no, I was just fantasizing about dating my agent. Did she find out? Su Miao guiltily looked away, not daring to look at her.
“If you’re tired, you can lie down and rest. There’s no need to force yourself. Your script fell on the floor.” Bai Jin pointed at the white rectangular script lying on the floor.
“No, no, I’m not tired.” Su Miao immediately picked up the script. This would make her look unprofessional.
