Oh No, My Tail Has Been Seen! - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Sleeping Together
The camping activity was simple. The production crew drove everyone to a nearby forest park.
Su Miao was carrying a backpack that was slightly larger than her usual one, filled with some medicine, food, and water.
The picnic ingredients would be provided by the production crew.
As a kitchen disaster, Su Miao could only fry eggs at most, and she had no intention of showing off her cooking skills on the show.
When they arrived, Su Miao got out of the car, and a beautiful landscape of mountains and rivers appeared before her.
She was born in the sea, and although she spent most of her time on land, she yearned for the boundless ocean.
This was the first time she had seen such a beautiful mountain.
When she traveled with friends before, most of them went to the seaside. It seemed her friends weren’t big fans of mountain climbing.
“It’s so beautiful,” Su Miao exclaimed unconsciously, looking at the lush greenery all over the mountains. It seemed she had been shortsighted; she had only liked the sea before because she hadn’t yet seen the beauty of the mountains.
Bai Jin turned her face to look at her, her eyes softening. “Yes, it is beautiful,” she agreed.
The others also got out of the car one after another. They had been cooped up in the car for a while, and now that they were breathing in the fresh air of nature, everyone’s mood improved.
“Alright, this is the camping spot we chose for you. The environment is excellent. Now, everyone, follow me for a walk. We’ll unpack our bags at the house up ahead, and we’ll be staying in the village nearby tonight,” the host said, having changed into long-sleeved sportswear and walking at the front of the group.
Su Miao had also prepared beforehand. When she found out they were going mountain climbing, she had the foresight to change into long-sleeved shirts and pants to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
Bai Jin did the same.
But Zhang Linyu was more careless. She was walking with a frown, constantly brushing at her arms.
Although Su Miao didn’t have a good impression of her, they weren’t enemies. Seeing how badly she was being bitten, Su Miao took the initiative to find a mosquito repellent spray in her bag and handed it to her.
Zhang Linyu was stunned for a moment when Su Miao handed her something. She looked up and met Su Miao’s eyes, as if to confirm something, but the itchy sensation on her arm made her not hesitate for long before she quickly took the spray.
As she sprayed it on her arm, a cool sensation seeped into her skin, and the itchy spots gradually subsided.
Su Miao saw that her brow was no longer furrowed, so she figured it must have worked.
“Thank you,” Zhang Linyu said with her signature smile, preparing to hand the bottle back to Su Miao.
Su Miao quickly waved her hand. “Bai Jin and I are wearing long sleeves and pants, so we won’t get bitten easily. You can keep it; you might need it later.”
Thinking of how itchy her whole body had been and how she couldn’t swat at the mosquitoes with big movements in front of the cameras, Zhang Linyu nodded and agreed to keep the spray.
In fact, she wasn’t the only one. Others had also been bitten by mosquitoes without wearing long sleeves and pants. Zhang Linyu thought about how Su Miao had given the medicine to her, so she quickly caught up to the front of the group and handed the medicine to those who needed it.
The group walked for nearly an hour to reach their destination. Thankfully, it was early autumn, so the weather was not as hot as in the peak of summer. A gentle breeze would occasionally blow, making the walk very comfortable.
The destination was a vast open lawn with five tents, which the production crew had already set up for the guests. Since the number of tents was limited, two people would have to share one.
As soon as she heard this news, Su Miao’s heart thumped. The space in a tent was not big. How close would they have to be to sleep together?
At the original filming location, they only lived in adjacent rooms, but now she could actually sleep with Bai Jin.
Did this blessing come so suddenly?
She was completely unprepared. When she found out they were going camping, she hadn’t anticipated that they wouldn’t be returning to the house to stay outside at night. However, there were so many cameras here, so they probably wouldn’t be able to shower or change clothes anyway.
“Bai Jin, want to share a tent?” Su Miao regretted asking as soon as the words left her mouth, silently scolding herself for stating the obvious. But she was so excited after hearing the news that she felt she had to say something to make herself appear calm.
“Mm,” Bai Jin replied with a light sound.
Su Miao’s heart gradually began to race.
They had to live together while filming the show, and they would have more time together once she joined the crew later.
She was secretly overjoyed at the thought.
But out of the corner of her eye, she caught Bai Jin’s gaze on her. Su Miao quickly cleared her throat and put on a docile and obedient expression.
“Let’s go,” Bai Jin said, leading Su Miao to the assigned blue tent.
Su Miao was tired from the walk. She lifted the tent flap, bent down, and crawled inside. A soft mat had been laid out, along with two small pillows.
Su Miao turned and sat down, and Bai Jin also sat down beside her to rest.
The tent’s space was small, and they were sitting quite close to each other. Su Miao took off her backpack and placed it to the side, then let out a lazy stretch.
“I’m a little tired.” She had stayed up too late drinking with Xu Sheng last night and woke up early this morning. She had already been feeling sleepy in the car. Now that she was on a bed, her eyelids started to feel heavy.
She could afford to be lazy for a bit now, but once she joined the crew, she wouldn’t have the chance.
“Get some sleep. I’ll call you when it’s time,” Bai Jin said, glancing at the tents next to them. Everyone was unpacking their bags, and the host had just said they were tired from the walk and should rest for a while.
They probably wouldn’t gather so quickly.
With Bai Jin’s permission, Su Miao lay down with peace of mind. The distance between them was less than half a meter.
Su Miao half-closed her eyes, her gaze falling on Bai Jin. From her angle, she could only see her side profile. Her waist was very slender, and her black hair was neatly tied up, making her look clean and refreshed.
The line of her jaw was exquisite. Su Miao thought that if she hadn’t chosen the path of a manager, she could have been a huge star.
After all, she was also a popular figure in high school.
She was good at both academics and character, and she had a cool and refined face that was loved by both men and women on campus.
Perhaps she was too tired. In her grogginess, she saw Bai Jin turn and look at her.
Was that a hallucination?
The light inside the tent was too dim. Bai Jin’s dark, deep eyes seemed to be right in front of her.
Su Miao suddenly smiled.
The next second, she turned over and fell completely asleep.
When she woke up again, it was already afternoon. The setting sun shone into the tent through the flap.
Bai Jin was no longer there. Su Miao frowned. The last time she woke up and Bai Jin wasn’t there, she was gone for several days. This time, could it be…
No, it couldn’t be. There were no messages on her phone. Bai Jin wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye.
But even after repeatedly reassuring herself, she still couldn’t feel at ease.
So she hurried out of the tent. She saw that the other guests were still resting. Zhang Linyu and Ye Qian were sitting on a rock in the middle, chatting. When they saw Su Miao, they waved to her.
“Su Miao, over here.” Zhang Linyu waved, motioning for her to come and sit with them.
Su Miao first looked around and found that Bai Jin was not here. She wanted to walk away, but Zhang Linyu had already called her, so it would be rude not to go over.
What if they had seen Bai Jin?
Su Miao walked straight over, trying to keep her emotions stable. When she reached them, she had a faint smile on her face.
“Your arm isn’t so itchy now, is it?” she said, looking at Zhang Linyu’s arm. It wasn’t very red anymore, but there were still faint scratch marks.
“It’s fine now, thank you.” Zhang Linyu looked at Su Miao with gratitude. “I saw that others who weren’t wearing long sleeves and pants were also getting bitten, so I let them use some, too.”
“That’s good,” Su Miao said. She paused for a moment before asking, “I just woke up from a nap and noticed Bai Jin is gone. Do you know where she went?”
After asking, Su Miao felt a little nervous, afraid they wouldn’t know, and also afraid they would tell her something bad.
It was Ye Qian who answered. She carefully looked at Su Miao and then said, “I saw her leave the tent a while ago. She was on her phone, making a call in that direction.”
With that, she pointed in a certain direction.
“Thank you.” Su Miao said her thanks. “I have something to find Bai Jin for. I’ll be going now.”
Su Miao walked in the direction Ye Qian had pointed. This area must have been booked by the production crew, as there were no other tourists around.
Ahead was a forest, and there was also a small stream beside it.
There were no cameras set up by the production crew in the forest.
Bai Jin must have come here because she didn’t want anyone to hear her conversation.
Would it be bad to just go in and interrupt Bai Jin like that?
But she had already been in there for a while, and Su Miao was worried something might have happened to her.
Without hesitating for long, Su Miao walked into the forest.
This area must have been a common spot for tourists to wander, as a path had been worn into the dirt.
Su Miao followed this path forward.
“Whether I chose her or not is none of your business. Please don’t say things like that.”
After walking for a while, Su Miao finally heard Bai Jin’s voice. She was about to rush over, but the content of Bai Jin’s words made her feel that it was related to her.
She stopped in her tracks.
“What you’re saying is just a hypothesis. I have no reason to explain myself for your hypothesis. I treat everyone the same. There’s no such thing as favoritism. Besides, we are no longer in a working relationship, Miss An.” Bai Jin’s tone was very unfamiliar, a kind of detached coldness.
Su Miao was startled when she heard this. She had really heard something she shouldn’t have.
Eavesdropping was not a good thing to do, so she turned to leave.
Before she could even take a step, she suddenly felt something wrapping around her leg.
She looked down and saw a black snake coiled around her pant leg.
She had been so engrossed in eavesdropping that she hadn’t even noticed the strange feeling on her leg.
“Ah!”
Almost instantly, Su Miao screamed loudly and fell to the ground powerlessly.
