Oh No, My Tail Has Been Seen! - Chapter 30
Chapter 30: I Will
Is this a form of hiding one’s capabilities?
Su Miao remembered that the roles Bai Jin chose were always excellent. The previous roles she picked for Ye Yu and An Yixin were particularly memorable. Especially An Yixin, who with a show that wasn’t initially favored, became a hit after it aired, and she went on to win the highest achievement for an actress.
In any case, she had no opinion on Bai Jin’s casting choices. Bai Jin’s rigorous selection was the best.
Zhang Bingyue saw that Bai Jin’s answer was flawless, so she didn’t bother to continue the conversation.
Instead, she looked at Su Miao with interest.
“So you picked someone who’s not like An Yixin at all? Were you really heartbroken last time?” Zhang Bingyue’s eyes were full of mockery. “I just ran into An Yixin the other day. She’s not like you; she can’t stop talking about you.”
Su Miao’s heart suddenly sank. So, Bai Jin and An Yixin were really together at one point?
A celebrity and a manager?
Su Miao was a little in disbelief. She had never imagined what Bai Jin would be like when she fell in love with someone.
No, she had just seen her gentle side.
Would she be this gentle with the person she loved?
Su Miao pursed her lips, wanting to hear Bai Jin’s explanation, but Bai Jin stood there in silence, as if she hadn’t heard anything.
“Ah-choo,” Su Miao sneezed and rubbed her arms, acting like she was cold. “Bai Jin, I’m a little cold. I want to go back to the hotel first.”
She didn’t want the two of them to continue talking. It was already making Bai Jin unhappy and herself miserable.
There were some things she was unwilling to know.
“Okay, let’s go back,” Bai Jin said. She gestured for Xu Qingqing to move aside and personally pushed Su Miao’s wheelchair toward the hotel.
Zhang Bingyue frowned, watching their retreating figures.
Her manager came over, a knowing smile on his face. “What, are you not giving up yet? You want to be her artist but you can’t help but go against her at every turn. Where do you think you’ll find such a good deal?”
Zhang Bingyue looked back at her manager with disdain. “The role that won An Yixin the White Magnolia Award was supposed to be mine. She helped An Yixin steal it, hmph.”
The manager was annoyed by her look. He rolled his eyes and said, “Even if she doesn’t manage An Yixin anymore, she wouldn’t manage you. Just get over it.”
Zhang Bingyue didn’t reply to him. Instead, she sneered, “I’ve already applied to the company to replace you. You can wait for a cold shoulder.”
The manager waved his hand nonchalantly. “Do as you wish. Anyway, I’m the fifth manager you’ve replaced. Let’s see how many more managers the company has left for you to replace.”
“You…” Zhang Bingyue gritted her teeth. She had been in the entertainment industry for two years with no progress. Only after working with her current manager did she slowly gain an audience and her popularity grew. But this manager was too difficult to control. She couldn’t make any decisions on her own.
She was long tired of being controlled.
…
“Do you want me to take my jacket off for you?” While waiting for the elevator, Bai Jin saw Su Miao still hugging her shoulders, worried she was cold. She immediately took off her jacket and put it over Su Miao.
“Huh?” Su Miao was actually spacing out, which was why she maintained the posture. Only after hearing Bai Jin’s words did she realize that the scene had already changed and the inquisitive Zhang Bingyue was no longer there.
Su Miao subconsciously took Bai Jin’s jacket. It had her unique perfume scent.
She liked it very much.
The walk to the hotel was short. Su Miao held Bai Jin’s jacket tightly until a “ding” sound opened the door.
This hotel was far from the fancy one she had imagined.
The decor looked a bit dated, but the beds were clean, and the floors were spotless.
“The feature of this hotel is that it’s very close to the film set, only a five-minute walk, which makes it convenient for us to go filming. The better hotels are a bit farther away,” Bai Jin said, seeing that she was looking around without saying anything. She took the initiative to explain.
Celebrities don’t only have a glamorous side. Filming can be tough, and some specific scenes require them to go into the mountains, sleeping in the open and eating whatever they can find.
Judging by her words, she was afraid that Su Miao would be picky.
Su Miao quickly shook her head, indicating that she wasn’t. “I’m not complaining about the environment. I’m just thinking about what I’ll need to get into bed later.”
The hotel’s design was strange. The bed was on a raised platform, a step higher than the floor, at a height she couldn’t jump on.
“I’ll help you up,” Bai Jin said, pushing Su Miao to the side of the bed. As she stood up, Xu Qingqing immediately handed her the crutches.
Su Miao cautiously tried to climb the step, but she was too unfamiliar with crutches. She only took a small step before falling backward.
Bai Jin reached out and wrapped her arms around Su Miao’s waist, pulling her into an embrace to stabilize her.
“Ah,” Su Miao said in surprise, looking back at Bai Jin.
Their faces were very close. Bai Jin was a head taller than Su Miao, and they could feel each other’s breath.
“I’m sorry,” Su Miao said. This was a little too intimate. She tried to straighten herself up, but Bai Jin held her waist, telling her not to move.
“Don’t move. I’ll carry you up,” Bai Jin’s voice returned to its usual coolness.
For some reason, Su Miao’s ears turned red.
Saying something so ambiguous with a straight face was a little flirtatious.
After saying that, Bai Jin lifted her up by the waist. Considering Su Miao’s foot injury, her movements were slow and gentle, careful not to hurt her.
Then she carefully placed Su Miao on the bed.
Su Miao suddenly thought of something and frowned. “Then I can’t shower. It’s been two days without one.”
She felt like a salted fish.
Well, a salted fish with a dream to shine brightly.
Although she didn’t have a scent, as a mermaid, she especially loved being in the water. Not touching water for a long time was a bit uncomfortable.
She was so unhappy that she wilted.
Bai Jin looked at her pitiful appearance, her eyes darkening. “We’ll have Xu Qingqing help you shower tomorrow, and then we’ll go to the film set. You can rest for one more day today.”
Su Miao knew this was a compromise.
She quickly nodded, afraid she would change her mind.
“Sister Su Miao, you should rest well. I’ll be in the next room. You can find me anytime if you need anything,” Xu Qingqing said. As she was about to leave after getting Su Miao settled, she stopped and turned back. “Oh, by the way, since your foot is injured and it’s inconvenient to open the door, Bai Jin and I each have a copy of your room key card. We can open the door ourselves.”
“Okay, sounds good.” Su Miao nodded obediently.
After both of them left, Su Miao closed her eyes and began to process the day’s events.
It was too complicated. Her mind was a bit jumbled.
But one thing she could be sure of was that whether Bai Jin had been with An Yixin or not, it wouldn’t affect her feelings for Bai Jin.
So, it was okay.
Tomorrow, she would have a nice shower and go to the set.
The next day, Xu Qingqing came very early. She knocked on the door, and when there was no sound, she knocked again loudly, but still got no response. Her heart skipped a beat. Had something happened to Sister Su Miao?
She quickly swiped her card and entered the room, only to find Su Miao still sound asleep on the bed.
“What’s wrong?” The knocking was so loud that it was hard for Bai Jin to not hear it. She also walked into Su Miao’s room to see what was going on.
The two of them stood there, looking at each other, facing a still sleeping Su Miao.
“Su Miao, time to wake up,” Bai Jin said, walking over and calling out to her. She saw Su Miao trying to turn over but couldn’t because her foot was still hurting. She just waved her hand instead.
With a sleepy, childish voice, she mumbled, “Stop it.”
“It’s nine a.m. It’s time to get up.” Bai Jin patted the hand that was sticking out of the blanket. Seeing that she still wasn’t waking up, she held her wrist and gave it a shake.
Su Miao finally frowned and groggily opened her eyes.
“Hmm?” Su Miao rubbed her eyes, trying to see the people in front of her clearly.
The next second, she froze. Seeing the two people in front of her, her sleepiness immediately vanished, and Su Miao was fully awake.
“Did I sleep in late?” She didn’t remember them setting a time yesterday. Su Miao tried to recall the details from the previous day.
“We didn’t need you to get up early yesterday. We were just worried because we couldn’t wake you up today,” Bai Jin said, acting as if she had completed her task now that the person was awake. She walked out directly. “Later, help Su Miao take a shower.”
“Okay.” Xu Qingqing hurried over to Su Miao. “Sister Su Miao, do you need me to help you get up and wash up?”
“Thank you.” Washing up was fine, but a shower was unnecessary. She wasn’t used to letting others see her body.
After Xu Qingqing helped her wash up, Su Miao asked her to help get her a change of clothes and put them in the bathroom. Then she told her, “Qingqing, you can go out first. I can wash myself.”
“But your foot is still swollen, and the bathroom is slippery. I’m afraid you won’t be able to stand steadily,” Xu Qingqing said, glancing at the smooth bathroom floor. Even without a step, it was still very dangerous.
“How about this, then? You can help me to the side of the bathtub, and then you can go out,” Su Miao said, also considering her physical condition. She shouldn’t be stubborn. She decided to ask for her help.
“Okay,” Xu Qingqing quickly nodded and helped Su Miao into the bathroom, getting her to stand next to the bathtub. “Do you need me to help you take off your clothes?”
Although she had helped artists shower before, she was a little shy around a beautiful girl like Su Miao.
“No, I can do it myself,” Su Miao quickly shook her head. “You can go out first. I’ll be fine. Once I get my clothes off, I can just sit in the bathtub.”
“But,” Xu Qingqing was still worried, but seeing Su Miao’s determined eyes, she gave up on insisting. “Then I’ll wait for you outside. If anything happens, just shout loudly for me.”
“I will.”
