Chapter 35: Every Mutter from Su Miao Tonight Was Answered.
Since Bai Jin could handle everything for her, the only thing she had to do was act well.
That person’s goal must be to destroy her confidence. She would not let that happen.
She read her script for a while until Bai Jin and Xu Qingqing brought dinner.
“We have a night shoot tonight. The director added it at the last minute. We’ll head over after we eat.” Bai Jin brought a bowl of noodles for Su Miao, with a clear broth and a few vegetable leaves floating on top. It looked like it was vegetarian.
Su Miao thought that since she had such a bad day, Bai Jin might take pity on her and let her eat some meat, but it was still bland soup.
Seeing that Su Miao was hesitant to pick up her chopsticks, Bai Jin said, “You can’t eat and drink too much while filming. If you gain weight, you might look thin in one shot and fat in the next.”
She understood the logic, but eating this bowl of noodles required some mental preparation.
Like, imagining it was a feast.
With that thought, Su Miao finally picked up her chopsticks and began to eat the noodles, chewing slowly, trying to taste something.
Seeing Su Miao start to eat, Bai Jin and Xu Qingqing also uncovered their noodles. Both were spicy oil-doused noodles.
As soon as they opened the lid, the aroma filled the air.
Su Miao was instantly tempted. The noodles in her mouth were already bland, and now her nose had to smell the delicious aroma.
“Can I have a bite?” Su Miao gestured with her finger, “Just one bite.”
Xu Qingqing didn’t dare to make a decision and looked to Bai Jin.
“No,” Bai Jin refused coldly.
“Ah.” Her wish was denied. Su Miao could only watch them eat their delicious noodles while she ate her tasteless clear soup noodles.
The difficult dinner time finally passed, and the three of them went downstairs together.
“I heard that Lin You still hasn’t come back. The director is at his wit’s end. Tonight’s scenes, which were supposed to be Lin You’s, have all been pushed back, which is why it’s our turn to film first,” Xu Qingqing said, sharing what she had heard on the set this afternoon.
“It’s good to finish early. We still have to rush to the next crew.” What Bai Jin didn’t say was that she had already discussed it with the director that morning. If the male lead still hadn’t returned, they would film Su Miao’s scenes first.
The next role was the female second lead. Although Su Miao hadn’t received the script yet, she was already looking forward to it.
How many scenes would a female second lead have?
Su Miao began to feel a little secretly pleased.
“Don’t be happy too soon. The female second lead is not that easy to play. If you don’t perform well, you could be replaced at any time,” Bai Jin said, noticing the smile Su Miao couldn’t hide.
“I know,” Su Miao replied. In any case, this was her opportunity, and she would definitely seize it.
The three of them soon arrived at the film set. Su Miao followed the crew members to change her clothes and get her makeup done. The makeup artist was a different person.
“Don’t worry, I heard about what happened this morning. I’ll use the best long-lasting makeup,” the makeup artist said to Su Miao in advance.
Su Miao smiled, indicating that she understood.
The makeup artist applied a very light makeup on Su Miao, almost making her look bare-faced.
“Normally, I should be giving you a more ugly makeup.”
Seeing her confusion, Bai Jin explained, “You’re good-looking, even more so than the female lead, which can steal the spotlight. So if you’re asked to look ugly in the future, it’s a normal thing.”
So that’s how it was. Then was the makeup artist this morning truly a newcomer who didn’t know, or was she doing it on purpose?
Su Miao suddenly felt a little scared. The makeup artist this morning had timidly said she didn’t know anything, but she had done something that put her in a difficult situation.
But she was just a pawn. The person behind her was even more terrifying.
After her makeup was done, Su Miao went to the set. This time she was very early. She was already waiting on the side while they were still setting up the background.
Zhang Bingyue also came early. When she saw Su Miao, she walked over with concern and asked, “Are you okay? I saw you weren’t in good shape this morning. I even wanted to tell the director to let you rest more.”
Su Miao smiled slightly. “Thank you for your concern. I’m fine.”
Zhang Bingyue noticed that Su Miao’s makeup was so light that it was almost invisible. It was all about her natural beauty. “Why is your makeup so light? I don’t actually mind.”
“She’s doing her makeup according to the lookbook now,” Bai Jin said, rescuing Su Miao. “If you don’t mind Su Miao wearing other makeup, you can tell the director. We’ll definitely change it then.”
“That’s not necessary. We’ll just stick to the script.” Zhang Bingyue’s smile faded. “The director is calling me. I’ll go first.”
Watching her walk away, Bai Jin’s eyes gradually became sharp.
After a while, Director Li also called Su Miao over. This night scene was a reconciliation scene between her character and Zhang Bingyue’s, where the two went from rivals to good friends.
The timeline of this scene was the day after she rescued the drunk female lead.
The setting was a bar. Tang Meng had invited Yan Qin out for a drink to thank her.
“Have you forgotten why I saved you that day?” Yan Qin said with a sneer. “You still dare to come to a bar? I really underestimated your guts.”
“I haven’t forgotten.” Tang Meng looked at the waiter. “Get her a glass of lemonade. She can’t handle alcohol.”
Was she looking down on her? Yan Qin’s face was filled with indignation.
“Who says I can’t handle alcohol? I’ll have a Long Island Iced Tea,” Yan Qin said, casually glancing at the high-proof cocktails on the menu.
“You can’t drink that,” Tang Meng said, swirling her glass, looking at her with interest.
“I can,” Yan Qin said, refusing to back down. The waiter first handed her a glass of lemonade, then a Long Island Iced Tea.
Yan Qin rarely drank. She would avoid company parties as much as she could. Tang Meng really didn’t know if she could drink or not.
Yan Qin calmly picked up the drink and took a sip. She immediately frowned. It was so strong. Her head felt a little dizzy.
Tang Meng grabbed her shoulder, a hint of a smile in her eyes. “Can you still drink?”
Yan Qin was defiant. “Yes.”
With that, she took another sip.
“Cough, cough.” Yan Qin choked a few times. Tang Meng quickly took the lemonade and held it to her lips, telling her to drink it and calm down.
“Alright, don’t be so stubborn. I’m here to thank you today, not to repay kindness with ingratitude.” Tang Meng relaxed after seeing her drink the lemonade.
Maybe it was because of the alcohol, but Yan Qin’s face started to turn red.
“Here, drink my tea. From now on, let’s work together. No more making things difficult for each other, okay?” Tang Meng looked at her with interest. Seeing her face and ears all red, she couldn’t help but reach out and touch Yan Qin’s cheek.
The latter wanted to dodge, but it was too late, and she was touched.
“Who’s making things difficult for you?” Although she said this, Yan Qin still drank her tea.
The two looked at each other and smiled.
“Cut!”
Finally, the director yelled “cut.” Su Miao immediately turned her back and continued to cough. The drink she was given to drink was real alcohol. Although it wasn’t a high-proof liquor like in the script, she couldn’t handle even the lowest proof. If she hadn’t held on, she would have fainted.
“Very good, especially Su Miao. Your face turned red at the perfect time, just like you were really drunk,” Director Li praised Su Miao.
Then he watched as Su Miao fell straight down.
Bai Jin quickly went over and held her waist, steadying her. “Did you give her real alcohol as a prop?”
“It’s a regular cocktail,” the director said, seeing Bai Jin’s gaze. He suddenly understood. “She didn’t really get drunk, did she?”
“Yes. I’m taking her to sober up. You’ll have to reschedule the next scenes,” Bai Jin said, taking Su Miao away.
Back at the hotel, she put Su Miao on the bed and brought a hot towel to wipe her face.
When she touched her face, she thought of Zhang Bingyue’s extra little action, touching Su Miao’s face, and couldn’t help but wipe that side of her face a few more times.
Su Miao must have felt the pain and moved her face away, not letting her wipe it.
Bai Jin told Xu Qingqing to get some sobering tea. From the way she looked, she wouldn’t sober up easily without a bowl of it.
In the room, there were only the two of them.
Su Miao lay on the bed as if she were sleeping.
Bai Jin sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her. The makeup on her face had already been wiped off by the towel. Her bare face looked very pure and not at all aggressive.
This was the type she liked.
But a person like this was not suited for the entertainment industry.
Su Miao groggily felt a figure by the bed, like Bai Jin. She suddenly sat up and hugged the person’s shoulders tightly.
“Bai Jin,” Su Miao murmured.
“Hmm,” Bai Jin’s voice was very gentle, as if she was afraid of startling her.
“Bai Jin,” the drunk person said, her mind hazy, only remembering the most important thing.
“Hmm.”
…
Every mutter from Su Miao tonight was answered.
The next day, Su Miao woke up and found herself alone in bed. She rubbed her head. It seemed like Bai Jin had been by her side in her dream. Why wasn’t anyone there?
She looked at the clothes she was wearing. They had been changed into pajamas.
Who changed them for her?
Su Miao got out of bed and picked up her phone to check for messages. Besides the messages from her university dorm group chat, there were no others.
She looked at her phone as she walked, noticing someone asleep on the sofa.
Judging by the white shirt and suit pants, it must be Bai Jin.
Su Miao walked up to the sleeping person and confirmed that her guess was correct.
So last night wasn’t a dream. Bai Jin really took care of her all night.
Su Miao pulled at the collar of her clothes, thinking that Bai Jin had changed her clothes for her. She felt a little shy.
She must have been a handful for Bai Jin last night. Su Miao was so close, yet Bai Jin was still asleep.
She simply squatted down to look at her. Bai Jin’s face was so beautiful up close. Her facial features were perfect, and her melon-seed-shaped face, combined with her perfect head-to-body ratio, made many of Bai Jin’s personal fans feel it was a great shame that she didn’t enter the entertainment industry.
As she was curled up on the sofa, the sleeping Bai Jin had no trace of her usual aggressiveness and looked much more approachable.
How wonderful it would be to wake up to Bai Jin every day.
Just thinking about it made her happy.
But in the next second, Bai Jin opened her eyes and saw Su Miao smiling foolishly at her.
