“Hah, I…” Waves of heat washed over Lu Jinxi, forcing her to lean her head against Ming Xiaoyue’s shoulder. Her face flushed crimson like an apple, and her words came out in ragged gasps.
Before she could finish, Ming Xiaoyue suddenly let out a cold laugh, cutting her off. Her voice dripped with barely concealed anger.
“Lu Jinxi, you’ve deceived me again!” With those words, she pulled away without a backward glance and left.
Lu Jinxi stumbled backward, barely catching herself on the door handle to regain her balance. After several deep breaths, alarm bells began ringing in her mind. Has she found out?!
What did Ming Xiaoyue’s words mean? Lu Jinxi racked her brain, her first thought being that Ming Xiaoyue had discovered her reborn identity. But she forced herself to calm down.
No, no! Lu Jinxi replayed every moment since arriving at the hospital, but found no clues. Her eyes involuntarily darted toward Ming Xiaoyue, a clumsy attempt to conceal her anxiety.
Ming Xiaoyue caught the glance and tossed the ointment toward her. Lu Jinxi hastily caught it.
“The doctor prescribed this. Apply it to your glands once a day,” Ming Xiaoyue said curtly, relaying the medical instructions.
“Okay, I’m fine,” Lu Jinxi said, suppressing the weakness in her legs as she stood up. She still couldn’t figure out what Ming Xiaoyue’s earlier deception meant, but she didn’t dare ask her directly.
Fortunately, the hospital was full of suppression patches. Lu Jinxi hurried to the bedside table, grabbed one, and pressed it against her neck. She let out another sigh of relief, unconsciously pressing the corner of the patch.
“Shall we head back together?” Lu Jinxi asked softly, after quickly tidying up. She glanced at Ming Xiaoyue, who was already wearing a hat and mask, and added, “My driver’s waiting downstairs.”
“Mm-hmm.”
As Lu Jinxi spoke, she caught a glimpse of Ming Xiaoyue’s crimson-tipped, slightly upturned eye corner. Her bright eyes were filled with impatience, and her tone was perfunctory.
Lu Jinxi felt as if their relationship had reverted to square one, and her hand unconsciously tightened at her side.
The two women walked out of the hospital one after the other and got into the car. Ming Xiaoyue immediately pressed herself against the opposite window, turning her head to gaze out at the scenery without sparing Lu Jinxi a single glance.
Lu Jinxi, still troubled by Ming Xiaoyue’s earlier words, felt uneasy.
They remained in tense silence until they arrived at the TBV Filming Center, where both instinctively braced themselves for what awaited them.
As expected, a large crowd of reporters had blocked the vehicle at the entrance. The production crew turned a blind eye to the chaos. After the driver honked repeatedly to no avail, he reluctantly said, “Miss, we can’t get through.”
“Hmm,” Lu Jinxi murmured. Fortunately, Lu Zhengqing had arranged for another car with bodyguards to follow.
Amidst the crowd, several men in black suits forcefully pushed their way through, opened Lu Jinxi’s car door, and said, “Miss, please.”
“Mm-hmm,” Lu Jinxi replied, grabbing a hat and mask from the back seat before stepping out.
She then walked to the other side of the car, extended her hand to Ming Xiaoyue, and said, “Ming Xiaoyue.” Beneath the brim of her hat, their eyes met unexpectedly. Ming Xiaoyue gazed at her with genuine sincerity, her eyes shining like starlight, and asked, “Shall we go?”
“Click! Click!” Amidst the flashing cameras and clamorous voices, Ming Xiaoyue’s lips tightened beneath her mask. She murmured an affirmative, placed her hand in Lu Jinxi’s palm, and stepped out of the car.
Even with four burly bodyguards clearing a path, the reporters’ shamelessness was underestimated. They shoved and jostled, nearly shoving their equipment into the car.
“Miss Ming! Will you finally explain if Luo Hong’s arrest is related to you?”
“Miss Ming! Did Luo Hong subject you to inhumane treatment as well?”
“Miss Ming! Why was Miss Lu the one who ended up injured?”
“Miss Lu! Please explain how you were injured!”
Throughout the journey, reporters relentlessly pressed them with questions, but both women maintained a tacit agreement to remain silent.
“Miss Ming! Miss Lu! So, did your on-screen romance become real?”
At the edge of the crowd, Lu Jinxi caught this question. Her expression remained neutral, but the corners of her lips curled upward slightly.
As soon as they entered the TVB Filming Center, a makeup artist approached them. “Miss Ming, Miss Lu,” she said, “the director has arranged a simple one-on-one interview for each of you. We’ll start filming shortly.”
“Alright,” they replied in unison.
After a meticulous makeup session, their faces shed their earlier fatigue, radiating vitality. When they turned to look at each other’s youthful faces, both paused in momentary surprise.
Lu Jinxi was the first to recover. “Let’s go,” she said.
In the dimly lit, narrow corridor, they walked to the deepest part. The small black room closed behind them, isolating them from the outside world. In stark contrast to the all-black decor outside, the room was small and cozy, entirely decorated in pink.
“Miss Lu, please have a seat!”
Meanwhile, in the room across the hall:
“Miss Ming, please have a seat!”
Lu Jinxi nodded and sat up straight.
Ming Xiaoyue smiled sweetly and whispered, “Thank you.”
Interviewer: “May I ask how you’re feeling now? Were you injured?”
Ming Xiaoyue/Lu Jinxi: “No.”
Interviewer: “But why did you agree to film Luo Hong’s music video in the first place?”
Lu Jinxi: “My manager said it was another chance to gain exposure, so I went.”
Ming Xiaoyue: “I used to think his singing was quite good, and I respected him as a senior artist. But I never expected…”
Interviewer: “Indeed, no one could have predicted this. Would you mind sharing what exactly happened at the hotel that night?”
The two women glanced up at the interviewer.
Lu Jinxi: “That night, I was resting normally in my hotel room. But in the middle of the night, my door suddenly opened. Perhaps because of the filming schedule, I was sleeping particularly deeply. I didn’t wake up until I sensed an unfamiliar Alpha pheromone spreading through the room.”
Lu Jinxi paused for a moment before continuing, “It must have been my heat starting around that time, because I unconsciously released my own pheromones. Then we started fighting.”
Ming Xiaoyue:Â “I wasn’t entirely clear about what happened that day either. I was woken up by the sound of something breaking next door. When I rushed over, I saw Lu Jinxi and Luo Hong wrestling. Seeing bl00d on the floor, I immediately called the police and an ambulance.”
Interviewer:Â “I see. According to the police investigation, the front desk leaked your room information. But why didn’t Luo Hong come to your room?”
Ming Xiaoyue:Â “I’m not sure either. I only remember that everyone drank a lot at the celebration banquet that night.”
Interviewer:Â “Oh, then how did he manage to open Lu Jinxi’s room?”
Interviewer:Â “Logically, Luo Hong should have gone to Ming Xiaoyue’s room. So why did he end up in yours?”
A brief silence fell between the two women.
Ming Xiaoyue smiled gently and said, “I’m not sure. My room password is just my birthday.”
Lu Jinxi bit her lip and murmured, “It’s probably because my room password was set to Ming Xiaoyue’s birthday.”
A faint exchange could be heard through the interviewers’ earpieces. Finally, they smiled and said, “Alright, thank you for your cooperation, Miss Ming. This concludes the interview. Is there anything you’d like to say to the viewers?”
“Thank you for the interview, Miss Lu. Do you have any final words for the audience?”
Ming Xiaoyue, her usual sweet smile replaced by a serious expression, sat up straight and said, “I urge every Omega woman to protect herself completely. In such situations, remain calm, report to the authorities immediately, safeguard your rights, and trust in the state and the police!”
Lu Jinxi straightened her posture, looked directly into the camera, and declared, “We must resolutely fight against criminal forces to the end. Zero tolerance, zero leniency! Alphas must fulfill their national duty to protect Omegas! I urge all Alphas to uphold the law!”
Interviewer: “Thank you for your remarks. This interview concludes here. Please take care.”
Lu Jinxi: “Mm.”
Ming Xiaoyue: “Thank you!”
The two women opened the door simultaneously, looked up, and met each other’s eyes. Ming Xiaoyue smiled warmly at Lu Jinxi, who gave a slight nod in acknowledgment.
“Ladies, this way, please. The director has confirmed that the competition will proceed as scheduled in five days, maintaining the elimination-based format.”
“Understood,” they replied. Both were well aware of the harsh rules governing girl groups and said nothing further. After surrendering their communication devices, they casually stepped into the elevator as if nothing had happened.
The filming studio was on the top floor. From the moment they stepped into the elevator, their every move was being broadcast live.
They stood awkwardly on opposite sides, trying to act casual and avoiding eye contact.
With a ding, the elevator arrived. Lu Jinxi wisely remained still, while Ming Xiaoyue took a step forward to leave, murmuring, “Thank you.”
Lu Jinxi’s expression froze slightly. She hadn’t expected Ming Xiaoyue to thank her, especially since they hadn’t discussed this beforehand.
After speaking, Ming Xiaoyue hurried out of the elevator, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Lu Jinxi quickly followed, whispering behind her, “It’s nothing.”
Unbeknownst to them, they had already been live-streamed during the interview. The screen was now flooded with ecstatic comments from shippers:
Ahhh!!! KSWL, KSWL!
I never noticed before, but Little Jin’er is such a closet pervert! Hehe, I just thought she was a bit too attentive to Ming Xiaoyue, but setting her room password to someone else’s birthday?!
Holy sh1t, isn’t that basically an official announcement?! Setting your room password to your wife’s birthday? Does that mean you can sneak in at night for some… rubbing hands together
Upstairs, do you think this is a deserted area? But you make a good point—here’s a chicken leg for you!
Ahhh!!! I used to think Little Sun Xiaoyue and Silent Loyal Dog Little Jin’er were a perfect match, but now it seems like our Little Jin’er has been plotting this for ages!
The moment Lu Jinxi froze, it’s clear she never expected Ming Xiaoyue to thank her. Another day of shipping them to death!!
What is this, some kind of grand MVP celebration scene? Screenshotting this! (Image) (Image) They’re such a perfect match, it’s killing me!
The two naturally couldn’t see the comments section as they entered the practice room. Inside, everyone suddenly stopped moving and turned to look at the pair in the doorway.
But the benefits of fully enclosed filming became apparent. In their eyes, each person’s expression varied: some showed surprise, others astonishment, and still others jealousy…
They remained completely unaware of what had transpired during the MV shoot.
