Omega, Always Wants to Mark Me - Chapter 7
Ming Xiaoyue smiled sweetly and asked, “What’s wrong? Hmm? Lu Jinxi?”
Leaning closer, she ran her fingers back and forth over Lu Jinxi’s scent gland, her smile widening. “You didn’t actually think I believed your nonsense, did you? Now, I’m giving you one last chance! What’s your real motive for approaching me?”
“Hah,” Lu Jinxi trembled violently, sweat already soaking her hair. “Ha… nothing, Ming Xiaoyue. The inhibitor, I…”
Ming Xiaoyue narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Lu Jinxi. Was it her imagination, or did Lu Jinxi’s pheromones seem to be changing? Could it be that she was being induced into heat by Ming Xiaoyue herself?
Feeling the stimulation might not be enough, Ming Xiaoyue leaned closer and gently licked Lu Jinxi’s scent gland. As expected, Lu Jinxi’s gland pulsed violently.
The bitter citrus scent of her Alpha pheromones, previously like an unripe orange, gradually lost its bitterness, transforming into something slightly sweeter…
Ming Xiaoyue, surprised, took a small bite. Her mouth filled with the taste of oranges.
Lu Jinxi began to tremble violently, her throat constricting and emitting strange, strangled sounds.
Before Ming Xiaoyue could react, Lu Jinxi had pinned her down with lightning speed. By the time Ming Xiaoyue realized the danger and reached for her inhibitor, Lu Jinxi was already having her way with her.
In the dimly lit room, Lu Jinxi’s dominant position cast a shadow that completely obscured Ming Xiaoyue’s vision. Only then did Ming Xiaoyue belatedly realize she had gone too far.
Lu Jinxi seemed to have lost all reason. Her Alpha pheromones pressed down with overwhelming force, a predatory scent that paralyzed the Omega beneath her.
Ming Xiaoyue fought against her instinctive urge to be marked, her teeth chattering as she hissed through clenched jaws, “Lu Jinxi, you wouldn’t dare!”
Lu Jinxi paused momentarily in her descent.
Yet Ming Xiaoyue remained trapped. Her hands were pinned to her sides, while Lu Jinxi’s leg forcefully wedged between her thighs, reopening the wetness Ming Xiaoyue had been ignoring.
In the darkness, a sheen of moisture glistened. Ming Xiaoyue felt her body betray her, a hint of shame flickering in her eyes as she turned her head slightly. Just Omega instincts…
“Lu Jinxi, get off me!” Ming Xiaoyue had dealt with plenty of Alphas in her previous life. But those were middle-aged, balding Alphas in their forties or fifties, with protruding bellies and no exercise. As long as she was conscious, she could kick them off with a single blow.
But a young, vigorous Alpha was on a completely different level. Only now did Ming Xiaoyue belatedly realize she was putting herself in danger. She should have known from the moment Luo Hong secretly drugged her that an Omega stood no chance against an Alpha.
Yet Lu Jinxi remained motionless on top of her, kneeling on her body like a statue.
“Lu Jinxi, get off me first,” Ming Xiaoyue repeated, this time struggling slightly.
Suddenly, Lu Jinxi jerked her head up. In the moonlight, Ming Xiaoyue saw her bloodshot eyes and the unnaturally sharp tips of her marking fangs.
Then Lu Jinxi lunged down.
“Lu Jinxi! No!” At the last moment, Ming Xiaoyue seemed to instinctively cry out for help, her voice losing its earlier composure and filled with panic, even a hint of tears.
Lu Jinxi, pressed against Ming Xiaoyue’s shoulder, trembled violently. Her grip tightened, Ming Xiaoyue felt her arm would be crushed.
“Ming Xiaoyue?” Lu Jinxi’s voice rasped like sand grinding deep in her throat, cutting through the darkness.
“No, Lu Jinxi, don’t…”
Lu Jinxi closed her eyes briefly, then gradually loosened her grip, releasing Ming Xiaoyue. Her chest heaved violently.
Her hand instinctively reached for the nearby pouch, rustling noisily as her trembling fingers fumbled with it.
Ming Xiaoyue opened her eyes, seeing Lu Jinxi’s face drenched in sweat. Yet Lu Jinxi remained pressed against her legs, trapping her.
Lu Jinxi frantically rummaged through the pouch until she found the Alpha Inhibitor, finally exhaling in relief.
Ming Xiaoyue watched as Lu Jinxi’s trembling hand repeatedly missed her gland.
“Should I…?”
Before Ming Xiaoyue could offer help, Lu Jinxi swiftly jabbed the needle into her gland. Her face remained cold and stern as she spoke.
“Don’t ever do that again, Ming Xiaoyue. Don’t put yourself in danger.”
Ming Xiaoyue touched her lips, offering no reply.
“Also, everything I told you before was true. I don’t know why you’ve suddenly become so hostile towards me. If my presence truly bothers you, I’ll keep my distance from now on. I’m sorry.”
As Lu Jinxi spoke, the inhibitor began to take effect, clearing her mind. A flicker of resolve appeared in her eyes as she rolled off Ming Xiaoyue.
Standing in a corner, her back remained ramrod straight, but her arms trembled uncontrollably at her sides. So close! So close!
Lu Jinxi thought, belatedly realizing she had narrowly escaped disaster. She had almost marked Ming Xiaoyue. Perhaps at least one of Ming Xiaoyue’s words had been true—she really should stay away from her.
Lu Jinxi had previously believed she could resist Ming Xiaoyue’s allure.
But the sudden, overwhelming urge to mark her, regardless of the consequences, had been a brutal wake-up call. She was, after all, an Alpha, and the primal instinct to mark an Omega during heat was beyond her self-control.
Clenching her jaw, Lu Jinxi bit down hard on her lower lip with her marking teeth, drawing bl00d that streamed down her chin. She ignored the pain, punishing herself for her near-lapse.
In the darkness, after an indeterminate amount of time, Lu Jinxi retrieved an Alpha Inhibitor patch and applied it to the back of her neck, then once again distanced herself from Ming Xiaoyue.
“Your room isn’t safe; Luo Hong is still there,” Lu Jinxi said, pulling her room key from her pocket and placing it on the table. “Stay in my room tonight. If you’re worried, you can change the password. I’ll be leaving now.”
With a slight nod, Lu Jinxi turned to leave.
But after only one step, Ming Xiaoyue couldn’t help but call out, “Lu Jinxi!”
Lu Jinxi stopped and looked back.
“Where are you going so late? And the Luo Hong situation hasn’t been resolved yet. She only fainted. I…” Ming Xiaoyue realized belatedly that even after being reborn, she still felt powerless.
It had been a long time since Ming Xiaoyue had felt this sense of helplessness. Ever since she had climbed to the position of Best Actress in the country, even though many in the industry criticized her Omega status, they had no choice but to look up to her.
Ming Xiaoyue had believed that even after being reborn, she could still control everything. But tonight’s two moments of losing control had starkly revealed the truth: her wings were not yet fully formed.
“Mm, I’ll handle it. We have group recording tomorrow, so you should get some rest. I’ll take care of Luo Hong.”
For some reason, even though Ming Xiaoyue had spent her previous life navigating the world alone, countless Alphas, Betas, and even Omegas had tried to reassure her with promises.
But Ming Xiaoyue never truly believed them. Though she would smile and say, “Yes, I trust you,” she always kept a backup plan in mind, no matter what she was doing. Whether it was the emotional vulnerability of her heat or the calming effect of the night, Lu Jinxi’s steady words made Ming Xiaoyue nod, actually believing she could handle the situation.
Lu Jinxi gazed at the exhausted Ming Xiaoyue sprawled on the sofa and sighed softly, her heart softening. She knew Omegas were particularly vulnerable during their heat. Watching Ming Xiaoyue struggle to keep her eyes open, yet stubbornly resisting sleep with her needle-pricked arm, Lu Jinxi couldn’t help but walk over and scoop her up in a princess carry.
The sudden movement startled Ming Xiaoyue awake. “Lu Jinxi,” she murmured, her eyes meeting Lu Jinxi’s face for the first time since her rebirth.
Her features were perfectly balanced: a broad, round face with well-proportioned eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lips. Her complexion was youthful and fair, with pores clearly visible.
After gently placing Ming Xiaoyue on the bed, Lu Jinxi walked to her suitcase, pulled out a long robe, and said, “It’s new, never been worn. You can change into it. Good night, Ming Xiaoyue.”
Lu Jinxi didn’t expect a response as she turned to leave.
Unbeknownst to her, Ming Xiaoyue pursed her lips and whispered, “Good night.”
The words were so soft they were almost carried away by the breeze. Yet Lu Jinxi’s retreating footsteps didn’t falter, as if she hadn’t heard.
The moment the door slammed shut with a thud, Ming Xiaoyue stared at the empty room, overwhelmed by a sense of desolation she hadn’t felt even in her previous life.
Meanwhile, Lu Jinxi leaned against the closed door, her breathing ragged. The cold seeping through the wood gradually spread up her spine to her brain. After a moment, she straightened her shoulders, pulled out her phone, and let the screen’s bright light illuminate her face, accentuating its sharp contours.
Lu Jinxi bit her lower lip, her gaze fixed on the top contact in her phone. Finally, steeling her resolve, she pressed the call button.
The short ringing tone made her breath hitch involuntarily. Just as the call was about to disconnect automatically, the other party answered.
“Hmph!” Before Lu Jinxi could speak, an aged, cold snort came through the line.
Lu Jinxi bit her lip again and whispered, “Grandfather.”
“Hmph! Didn’t you want to sever ties with me?! Why are you calling so late at night?!” Lu Zhengqing snapped, his tone harsh and accusatory.
“I’m sorry,” Lu Jinxi murmured, lowering her head in rare humility. In the darkness, her expression was hidden.
“Hmph! What’s this?! Can’t make it in the entertainment industry? I told you it was a cesspool of chaos, but you wouldn’t listen. You insisted on going…”
“Grandfather, something happened here…” Lu Jinxi said hesitantly, her fingers fidgeting nervously against the side of her phone.
“Is someone bullying you?!” Lu Zhengqing demanded, the sound of him abruptly standing up audible through the line.
Lu Jinxi remained silent, her silence speaking volumes.
