Omega Taming the Black Moonlight - Chapter 14
Ji Yilian’s question left Yan Liu speechless.
The girl suddenly looked up, met her gaze for a moment, then pressed her lips together and averted her eyes.
“Think for yourself,” she said.
How strange.
The scumbag Alpha was acting like a clueless innocent.
But don’t think you can fool me!
Hmph, she knew exactly how the original plot was supposed to unfold.
She couldn’t trust any facade Ji Yilian put on.
After all, being a scumbag was sometimes innate. Someone incapable of love could act perfectly fine in front of you, only to revert to their true nature the moment you turned your back.
Yan Liu refused to repeat her past mistakes, especially not on the foundation of the Original Host’s experiences.
With this thought, the girl, whose expression had softened slightly, suddenly bristled again. Refusing to continue the conversation, she declared to Ji Yilian:
“Can you not stay here tonight?”
Though it sounded heartless, Yan Liu couldn’t bear sharing a room with such an Alpha. She wouldn’t be able to sleep soundly at night, and the thought was truly unbearable.
Sleep is crucial; it determines whether one has the mental and physical energy to fully engage in work, life, and acting the next day.
Without adequate sleep and rest, Yan Liu couldn’t guarantee she could perform her role well.
Faced with Yan Liu’s dismissal, Ji Yilian replied, “The competition is in two days. If you don’t want to lose miserably, you need to start training harder now.”
She placed the newly opened package behind her onto the table in front of Yan Liu, lifting her fair chin slightly.
“Practice with this.”
It was a holographic helmet.
Indeed, Yan Liu had never encountered such technology before. Though her first instinct was to stubbornly refuse, she couldn’t resist her curiosity. She stood up and leaned in to examine the helmet.
The technology in this Small World seemed at least fifty, if not a hundred, years more advanced than in her original world.
Apart from the ABO gender system, other aspects of technology also differed. Holographic… what would that be like?
The milky-white helmet, as Yan Liu turned it over in her hands, only accentuated the delicate slenderness of her Omega frame.
Seeing Yan Liu’s lack of resistance, Ji Yilian’s lips curved into a faint smile.
But when Yan Liu glanced over, she quickly reverted to her usual expressionless demeanor.
“Are you going to throw it away? Or are you just too afraid to use it?”
Realizing his taunts were effective, Ji Yilian pressed on.
Yan Liu’s first reaction was to toss the helmet behind her, her almond-shaped eyes widening. “I’m not throwing it away.”
She had already accepted Ji Yilian’s account binding and ten million Star Coins. How could she possibly be afraid to use the holographic helmet Ji Yilian had bought for her?
She wasn’t!
In just a few moments, Yan Liu had adjusted her mindset.
Since I’m here, I might as well make the best of it.
If Ji Yilian was offering to help her, why should she push her away?
Though… this process of “conquest and taming” wasn’t quite what she had initially imagined.
She hadn’t even started to exert herself when Ji Yilian had already flipped the script… It was a far cry from how the story was supposed to unfold.
Normally, wouldn’t there be a period of intense, torturous romance before Ji Yilian realized Yan Liu’s importance and began to show tangible changes in her actions?
Compared to her previous guardedness, Yan Liu’s newfound clarity transformed her demeanor toward Ji Yilian, as if she had become a completely different person.
Yan Liu even grew enthusiastic, nudging Ji Yilian with the holographic helmet and whispering, “Help me.”
She wasn’t very good at using this device.
To be precise, Yan Liu struggled with anything in this Small World that exceeded her original understanding of technology, requiring a guide to show her the way.
Though she was giving an order, Yan Liu’s voice remained soft, and her light brown eyes seemed as clear as glass, their shimmering depths radiating an irresistible charm.
Ji Yilian paused, took the helmet from the girl’s hand, and gestured for her to sit down.
“Focus on training your Spiritual Power.”
Step by step, she taught Yan Liu how to bind and use the holographic helmet. The latter grew increasingly excited, like a child discovering a fascinating new toy, her slender, snow-white legs swinging restlessly as she sat.
Ji Yilian’s gaze swept over those legs before she rose and went to the bedroom.
When she returned, she carried a blanket, which she draped over the exposed skin.
Yan Liu was completely absorbed in the holographic world, while Ji Yilian sat beside her, lost in thought.
She looked around at the spartan surroundings—the peeling paint and dim, yellowish light.
The living room was furnished with antiques, and the entire room’s decor evoked the style of the old century.
Everything reminded her of where she was.
A headache throbbed behind her eyes.
Ji Yilian pressed her slender fingertips against her temple, her thin lips pursed and her expression devoid of emotion, further accentuating her detachment.
Leaning against the wall, she closed her eyes and began to rest.
“Ji Yilian, Ji Yilian… Hey, wake up!”
The voice grew steadily clearer in her ears, shifting from a blurry haze to sharp clarity.
As Ji Yilian’s eyelids fluttered open, she saw Yan Liu, cheeks puffed out, practically straddling her.
Yan Liu had been shaking Ji Yilian by the collar, desperate to rouse her. But Ji Yilian’s face remained deathly pale, inexplicably unconscious and unresponsive, her breathing shallow and faint.
This had scared Yan Liu half to death.
She was here to tame the black moonlight, not to reap someone’s life.
The System had instructed her to “fall in love,” not to create some melodramatic, eight o’clock soap opera filled with hatred, love triangles, grudges, and legal drama.
She didn’t even want to imagine what chaos would ensue if Ji Yilian actually died in her little house.
Thankfully, the girl had finally woken up, though her eyes seemed unfocused, as if she were looking at a stranger.
“Hey, are you okay?” Yan Liu released her grip on Ji Yilian’s collar and quietly stepped aside, observing her. Something about Ji Yilian felt off.
Who could understand that feeling? She had spent the entire night playing with the holographic helmet, just beginning to grasp the basics of Spiritual Power manipulation. But the moment she removed the helmet, she realized it was already dawn.
Ji Yilian lay collapsed on the ground, completely motionless.
Even though she was beautiful, the scene was terrifying.
Yan Liu’s soul nearly fled her body in fright.
Seeing Ji Yilian finally awaken, Yan Liu breathed a massive sigh of relief.
“Did you stay up all night?” she asked, genuinely surprised that Ji Yilian had kept watch beside her the entire time.
This made Yan Liu reconsider her impression of Ji Yilian somewhat.
Yet despite Yan Liu’s repeated attempts to engage her, Ji Yilian remained completely silent.
She simply sat up, pushed herself to her feet with a gentle hand, and immediately adopted a condescending gaze, looking down at Yan Liu.
Yan Liu took a half-step back, sensing something was off. “Why are you staring at me like that?”
Ji Yilian’s gaze was icy and detached, as if she were observing a mere stone. The utter indifference in her eyes betrayed no hint of recognizing Yan Liu as a living being.
“…Yan Liu,” Ji Yilian said after a long pause, her voice cool and detached.
Yan Liu tensed, pressing herself against the wall, her lips pursed, her eyes warily fixed on Ji Yilian.
She sensed something was wrong.
Ji Yilian’s behavior was off.
Why was she staring at her with such a blank, even scrutinizing gaze, as if they had just met today?
“You didn’t wake up this morning regretting what happened yesterday, did you?”
People often sober up the morning after an impulsive purchase, regretting the large sums they spent under the sway of emotion.
Had Ji Yilian woken up, forgotten her guilt, and now regretted yesterday’s extravagant spending? She had bought Yan Liu a holographic helmet, a Smartwatch, transferred ten million Star Coins to her account, and even linked her personal account for unlimited use…
Was she regretting it now?
Yan Liu immediately retreated against the wall, hiding her Smartwatch behind her back, her small eyes filled with suspicion.
This image of a little mouse trying to hide its cheese made Ji Yilian’s expression flicker slightly.
