Omega Taming the Black Moonlight - Chapter 21
Ji Yilian’s palm was surprisingly warm.
Yan Liu’s arm, held in that hand, felt like it was pressed against a self-heating stove.
How strange, she thought. This person, who seems so cold and aloof, even a bit eccentric, has such a warm hand.
Warm to the point of being scalding.
Yan Liu awkwardly retreated a step. “You don’t need to teach me like this. Just explain it verbally.”
She still strongly resisted being close to Ji Yilian.
She didn’t like Ji Yilian.
That instinctive sense of wariness and resistance was impossible to easily overcome.
But Ji Yilian acted as if she hadn’t heard a word. She kept hold of Yan Liu’s arm, aimed the spray at the affected area, and quickly rubbed it in.
Just as Yan Liu was about to protest about the pain, a cooling sensation spread across her skin.
Huh? It doesn’t hurt anymore?
Wait, why is it so cold?
Perhaps because the sensation on her skin had changed so abruptly, Yan Liu didn’t even have time to voice her usual resistance.
She simply stared at Ji Yilian with wide, light-brown eyes, her red lips slightly parted in surprise.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore,” she murmured.
The girl looked utterly docile in that moment, as if she could be easily deceived—endearingly cute, yet a bit clueless.
Ji Yilian stared at Yan Liu’s rosy lips for a long moment, a sudden surge of restlessness stirring in her chest.
“Mm, you need to rub it in. Otherwise, it’ll hurt,” Yan Liu explained softly, showing no particular enthusiasm.
Yan Liu snapped out of her daze and stared at the bruise on her arm for a while.
In no time, the skin that had been burning moments ago had almost returned to normal, and even the bruise had visibly faded.
Curious, she wondered what ingredients this spray contained to so quickly eliminate bruises and swelling.
“Amazing,” Yan Liu murmured to herself, genuinely impressed.
It seemed the technology in this world was indeed far more advanced than in her original world.
“Are there any other spots?” Ji Yilian’s gaze drifted to Yan Liu’s calves.
She still remembered that night in the old house, when the girl’s legs, even just sitting there, had seemed as white and smooth as jade, practically illuminating the entire room.
“Let me check my legs,” Yan Liu said, glancing down at her knees.
When she rolled up her pant legs slightly, several distinct red bruises came into view.
How could Ji Yilian be so rough? Yan Liu thought, a flicker of anger crossing her face as she pursed her lips and glared at her.
“Why did you throw me so many times just now?”
If you’d just gone a little easier, none of this would have happened.
Facing the girl’s accusatory glare, Ji Yilian didn’t even twitch an eyebrow.
“Your combat skills are terrible.”
Her words were brutally direct, showing no remorse for having hurt Yan Liu.
Yan Liu glared at her, cheeks puffed out, and could only calm herself by mentally chanting that Ji Yilian was a scumbag Alpha.
“Are you trying to exhaust me today so you can win tomorrow’s Arena match without even fighting?” she couldn’t help but ask.
Ji Yilian: “Do I need to resort to such tactics?”
The Alpha’s voice was terrifyingly calm and rational, her eyes devoid of any emotional flicker. This only fueled Yan Liu’s frustration.
So annoying.
I hate Ji Yilian.
The girl turned to leave, abandoning her right to use the Training Room for the day.
But after only a few steps, Ji Yilian pulled her back.
“Do you know that the lottery draw is bidirectional? Theoretically, each person has two opportunities for one-on-one matches.” Ji Yilian spoke softly.
Yan Liu’s arm was still held by Ji Yilian. She should have immediately wrenched herself free, but the implications of the Alpha’s words caught her attention.
“Two match opportunities? What does that mean?”
Could it mean that besides her single match against Ji Yilian, she would have to fight others as well?
Seeing the girl’s sudden realization, Ji Yilian nodded slightly.
“Since you lost to me, you’ll get another chance to draw a match against someone else.”
“This is your opportunity to earn points.”
“So you need to learn combat techniques and train your Spiritual Power.”
Ji Yilian’s tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable authority.
Yan Liu’s head throbbed at the news. Her mind flooded with images of Ji Yilian throwing her around in various brutal ways.
No.
She refused.
The girl retreated cat-like, crossing her arms in a large X.
“No way.”
She’d rather practice quietly on her own than have Ji Yilian as a sparring partner.
This woman was too rough, showing no restraint whatsoever.
Aside from being mercilessly crushed, Yan Liu felt nothing else during their sessions.
She couldn’t even land a hit on Ji Yilian; her counterattacks were like tickling the woman, who could restrain her with a single move. What was she supposed to do?
The girl’s almond-shaped eyes burned with defiance and resentment, her cheeks puffing up like a pufferfish.
Ji Yilian saw her utter reluctance and raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“I’m trying to help you,” Ji Yilian said.
Yan Liu shook her head. “No, thank you.”
That seemed to be the end of the conversation, with no need to continue.
But Ji Yilian was stubbornly persistent when she had her mind set on something. She pressed on.
“Then let’s go back. Tonight, we’ll continue practicing your Spiritual Power with the holographic helmet.”
As she spoke, she walked to the door and glanced back at Yan Liu, as if waiting for her to follow.
Yan Liu stood frozen, staring in disbelief.
“You’re not going to come home with me tonight and watch me practice, are you?”
No way.
Ji Yilian: “Yes.”
Yan Liu’s legs went weak, and she collapsed into a chair, shaking her head in refusal.
“Please, have mercy on me.”
She simply couldn’t endure such hardship.
Yan Liu began to doubt her strategy. Did she really need to win the competition to succeed?
She was starting to question her entire life.
Ji Yilian was practically obsessive-compulsive, especially when it came to helping her train. She was like a driving instructor who might throw unexpected challenges at any moment, leaving Yan Liu constantly on edge.
Knowing Ji Yilian would be coming home with her meant she wouldn’t get a single moment of sleep that night. Yan Liu was completely overwhelmed.
“Ji Yilian, let’s talk.”
Yan Liu’s almond-shaped eyes, brimming with tears, and her tightly pursed lips betrayed her dejection. She looked like a parched seedling, drooping without a trace of vitality.
As Ji Yilian approached, her faint, orchid-like fragrance, not yet fully unfurled, instantly filled Yan Liu’s senses.
“What do you want to discuss?” Ji Yilian asked, standing tall and looking down at the girl.
Yan Liu sat on the ground, like a pouting child, tilting her palm-sized face upward to gaze at Ji Yilian. Her voice softened.
“Just let me off the hook and let me get some sleep, okay?”
The holographic helmet was fun, but it was like playing a game nonstop. You can’t make someone play without rest; they’ll collapse.
She didn’t want to die before she even got started in this new world!
Ji Yilian frowned. “You don’t want to win?”
Yan Liu: “Win against whom? You? After just one night? Is that even possible?”
Ji Yilian replied without hesitation, “Of course not.”
Hmph, that settles it then.
Ji Yilian leaned down slightly, cupping Yan Liu’s cheek in her hand and curving her lips into a smile.
“But you can win against others.”
How could she allow Yan Liu to lose to anyone but herself?
