Omega Taming the Black Moonlight - Chapter 24
The more Yan Liu resolved to remain composed, the better she controlled her expression.
She shrugged, forcing a faint smile onto her delicate features.
“So, Ji Yilian, what else can you promise me? You’ve given me so few choices.”
With that, she turned and walked away.
Ji Yilian stood frozen in place, stunned for a moment.
Even in the Interstellar Era, umbrellas remained in use on rainy days. Perhaps because they were relics of the ancient past, carrying a hint of timeless charm.
Yan Liu walked without an umbrella, while many passersby sheltered under theirs.
Flying vehicles crisscrossed the sky, their movements seemingly chaotic but strictly adhering to designated routes, preventing collisions or other accidents.
Yan Liu braved the rain, heading home. She had to cross three or four major streets to reach the edge of the old city district.
The further she walked, the more her mood soured.
Ji Yilian. The mere mention of the name stirred inexplicable irritation within her.
How she loathed that air of control, that detached indifference Ji Yilian projected toward her.
It was as if Yan Liu were a small goldfish in Ji Yilian’s hand. No matter how she twisted and struggled, she was out of the water, a pitiful prey trapped in the palm of her captor, destined to be carved up like fish on a chopping board.
Yet Ji Yilian wasn’t the kind of hunter who immediately sentenced her prey to death.
The other woman seemed to derive amusement from toying with her, enjoying the sight of the little goldfish wriggling and flopping. She slowly poked Yan Liu with her claws, once, twice, thrice.
Yan Liu could feel the deep-seated interest hidden in Ji Yilian’s eyes whenever their gazes met.
Perhaps it was because she had suddenly transformed, no longer the timid, submissive girl she once was. Now she had her own opinions, no longer just a simple bl00d bag.
This shift likely made Ji Yilian, a proud genius, feel that things were slipping beyond her control, triggering a sense of crisis that drove her to pursue Yan Liu so relentlessly.
As Yan Liu hurried through the rain, head bowed, she pondered Ji Yilian’s personality.
The more she thought about it, the more unpalatable this task became.
It was truly a difficult meal to swallow.
Knowing that Ji Yilian was a twisted, obsessive scumbag Alpha, Yan Liu couldn’t simply keep her distance as she would in real life. Instead, she had to figure out how to seduce her—no, how to conquer her.
The black moonlight didn’t seem easy to tame.
Yan Liu began to have second thoughts.
The System, which had remained silent since her transmigration, finally spoke its first words:
“The host in the real world has only three days to live. Complete the conquest, and you can return to live a long and healthy life.”
Yan Liu slowly unclenched her fists and exhaled a long breath.
To save my life! I can do this!
With that thought, she instinctively turned back, hesitating whether to return and say something more to Ji Yilian.
But as she turned, she discovered that Ji Yilian had been following her all along.
A person with Ji Yilian’s striking physique didn’t seem like someone who would walk through several streets in the rain.
She belonged in a sky-borne vehicle, like those nobles born with abundant resources, traveling with elegance and ease, untouched by wind, frost, rain, or snow.
Not trailing behind Yan Liu in such a disheveled state, like a beautiful Samoyed dog obediently following its abandoned owner.
Perhaps it was because Ji Yilian was simply too beautiful. Her face alone, projected onto a screen, could sway hearts on the spot. Let alone when she stood before you in person, with her slender waist, long legs, and a figure that earned extra points.
Visually, humans find it nearly impossible to resist a beauty who perfectly embodies their aesthetic ideals, especially when she approaches them.
Yan Liu was no exception.
When she had turned around earlier, she had been startled to see Ji Yilian silently following her in the rain, the sight momentarily overwhelming her senses.
“…Why have you been following me?” Yan Liu asked after a moment, her voice regaining its composure.
Ji Yilian was noticeably taller than her, her slender frame accentuated by the rain. Her once-smooth black hair now clung to her skull, but the rain only served to highlight the breathtaking beauty of her face.
Her phoenix-shaped eyes were particularly captivating—dark, luminous, and for a fleeting moment, they seemed crystalline and pure.
“You’re angry,” Ji Yilian stated calmly.
Yan Liu paused, her emotions a tangled mix.
“Yes, I am. But what does that have to do with you following me in the rain?”
“I don’t know,” Ji Yilian replied.
She had simply watched Yan Liu walk away and instinctively followed her.
Yan Liu sighed in exasperation.
“I’m broke… I used to walk everywhere because I couldn’t afford a hovercraft. Don’t you have one either?”
Ji Yilian remained silent.
Less than ten seconds later, a light blue aircraft soared into view, gracefully descended, and parked at their feet.
Yan Liu didn’t hesitate and immediately boarded.
She had made up her mind: no more pretense. Instead of a slow, steady approach, she would launch a full-frontal assault on the villainous scum Alpha.
The interior of the aircraft was truly a world apart.
This was Yan Liu’s first time riding such high-tech transportation since transmigrating.
In the Interstellar Era, not everyone had access to personal aircraft. These vehicles were the domain of the nobility.
Ordinary citizens, much like in her previous world, relied primarily on public transportation and lacked individual flight routes.
Curious, Yan Liu approached the autopilot cockpit, examining the screens and the control levers.
Ji Yilian stood silently behind her and spoke up.
“Do you want to change? Your clothes are wet.”
She herself was unconcerned; an Alpha’s constitution easily shrugged off the chill.
But Yan Liu was clearly different.
So frail and petite, Ji Yilian worried she might be bedridden with a fever by tomorrow’s competition.
Yan Liu, jolted by Ji Yilian’s reminder, finally realized how absurd her earlier behavior had been.
How could she treat her body so carelessly just because she was angry at someone else?
“No need. I’ll shower when I get home,” Yan Liu said, unwilling to undress in an unfamiliar place.
Between this strange “home” and the aircraft, the latter clearly warranted more caution.
Ji Yilian pressed her lips together, saying nothing more. She could sense Yan Liu’s intense wariness and resistance toward her.
“About your earlier proposal,” Ji Yilian suddenly spoke up.
Yan Liu blinked, confused. “What proposal?”
Ji Yilian’s phoenix eyes fixed on her as she reluctantly uttered, “Three conditions: I won’t stay at your place. I agree.”
Wow!
Yan Liu’s spirits soared. A path forward even when the road seemed blocked!
Had Ji Yilian finally had a change of heart?
“Really? Are you sure?” Yan Liu hurried to Ji Yilian, her apricot eyes shining as she tilted her head to look up at her.
The rain had made her skin even more translucent, and damp strands of hair clung to her cheeks, accentuating the crystalline clarity of her apricot eyes.
That pure, ethereal grace was truly captivating.
Ji Yilian felt a pang of displeasure.
She could clearly read the words “eager to be rid of me” in Yan Liu’s eyes.
Yan Liu didn’t want her in that old house.
This realization weighed heavily on Ji Yilian’s heart, making her uneasy.
But more than discomfort, she loathed the helplessness she’d felt earlier, trailing behind Yan Liu as the girl walked away without a backward glance, as if trying to completely erase Ji Yilian from her world.
“Alright,” Ji Yilian conceded, adding a caveat to her agreement, “I’ll honor this agreement, provided your safety is assured.”
Yan Liu, however, didn’t notice the subtle manipulation in her words.
The girl was simply overjoyed to have finally defended her legitimate right to privacy.
After all, who would want a scumbag Alpha they needed to “conquer” hanging around during private moments like sleeping, bathing, eating, or just relaxing alone?
AOs are different!
Ji Yilian had taught her a crucial lesson.
Yan Liu happily stood on tiptoe and reached out to pat Ji Yilian’s hair.
“Good girl, Yiyi. Why couldn’t you have agreed sooner?”
When her voice softened, it could make one drown in such tenderness.
Ji Yilian froze completely.
Her heart began to pound faster again, and in an instant, all she could see was the approaching face of the delicate Omega before her.
So, this is what it feels like to have your head patted.
The S-Class genius Alpha, who had never allowed anyone to act superior over her, unconsciously leaned forward slightly.
“Pat me again,” Ji Yilian requested, her expression unwavering.
