Omega Taming the Black Moonlight - Chapter 26
Yan Liu finally extended her finger and completed the pinky promise with Ji Yilian.
Phew, that was tough!
So much had happened in just two days since she’d transmigrated.
She and Ji Yilian had spent nearly an entire day and night together!
This intense period of isolation had left her feeling somewhat disoriented, even leading her to develop some expectations regarding Ji Yilian’s character.
With the pinky promise in place, Yan Liu genuinely felt more relaxed around Ji Yilian, no longer as tense as before.
The best proof of this came when the hovercraft stopped at the old house’s entrance. Yan Liu hopped out with a brisk wave.
“Alright, no need to see me off. See you at the arena tomorrow.”
After all, they were rivals.
Ji Yilian remained at the hovercraft’s door, not following Yan Liu out. But her pursed lips and silent demeanor clearly betrayed her frustration.
Yan Liu, ever perceptive, glanced back and immediately guessed—Ji Yilian didn’t want to be left alone in the hovercraft.
But she pretended not to notice, smiling and waving as she walked away.
Taming the black moonlight required unwavering resolve. Especially during the process, she had to turn a blind eye to her own compassion when ruthlessness was necessary.
Excessive sentimentality could lead to disastrous consequences.
The Original Host had been so kind and trusting, especially towards Ji Yilian. But what had been the result?
The result was that the Original Host had been hopelessly in love with Ji Yilian, offering herself as a bl00d bag out of one-sided devotion. Ji Yilian, however, had never cared, even taking her sacrifices for granted.
How pathetic.
This proved that simply giving your all wasn’t enough; you needed the right approach.
Back in her old apartment, Yan Liu immediately locked the door, grabbed clean clothes, and rushed to the shower. She scrubbed herself thoroughly.
Hot water gushed from the old-fashioned showerhead, enveloping Yan Liu and melting away her tension. She even began humming a little tune.
So happy! I love showering.
But… as she washed, her hand accidentally brushed against a bruise. Looking down, Yan Liu felt tears welling up again.
The image of Ji Yilian tossing her around like a punching bag flashed through her mind. It hurt so much.
After showering, the girl quickly retrieved the spray she’d swiped from the Training Room. Following the technique Ji Yilian had taught her earlier, she sprayed and massaged the area vigorously.
Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!
For some reason, when Ji Yilian massaged her, it didn’t hurt at all—it felt incredibly soothing. But when she tried it herself, it was painful.
Could it be because of Ji Yilian’s Spiritual Power?
Yan Liu didn’t know.
After two or three days here, this was the first night she’d actually slept in her bed. She sighed in relief, finally able to relax completely.
“Yan Liu, just stay calm tomorrow. If you lose, there’s always the next match.”
“If I don’t win the next match, there are… other options.”
Before falling asleep, she gave herself a pep talk, reinforcing positive self-affirmations.
In truth, if Ji Yilian continued to cling to her as she had these past two days, Yan Liu wouldn’t need to worry about being expelled from the Academy.
After all, she had transmigrated here solely to capture Ji Yilian’s heart, complete her mission, and extend her lifespan.
But… Yan Liu couldn’t bear the thought of being a failure in her studies and career, especially the kind of failure that came from retreating without a fight.
She believed that life shouldn’t be reduced to mere romantic obsession, that one shouldn’t be utterly useless.
Like the Original Host, who had devoted her entire being to Ji Yilian, hiding in the shadows and silently watching Ji Yilian rise to prominence, was wrong.
Yan Liu could also stand in the spotlight, where everyone could see her brilliance.
That was the true meaning of life: to create your own value, to become the unique individual you were meant to be.
Having reassured herself, Yan Liu drifted off to sleep, filled with positive energy.
The next morning, she woke to find a torrential downpour outside, even heavier than the rain she had braved the previous day.
Yan Liu stared in disbelief.
After searching the old house for ages, she couldn’t find a single usable raincoat or umbrella.
Was she really going to have to run to the Academy’s arena in this deluge?
The girl pressed her face against the window, her expression etched with dismay.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
Yan Liu scurried to open it, a faint premonition stirring in her heart.
Sure enough, the moment she opened the door, she saw Ji Yilian standing outside.
Today, Ji Yilian was wearing a tight-fitting black athletic suit made of a unique material with a metallic sheen.
Combined with her perfect figure—her head-to-body ratio was flawless, and her waist and hips were absolutely stunning—she looked like a walking fashion model.
Yan Liu couldn’t help but stare for an extra second before swallowing hard and asking softly, “What are you doing here?”
Ji Yilian replied, “Did you expect me to let my opponent arrive at the arena looking like a drowned rat?”
This woman! When had she learned to be so sarcastic?
Yan Liu’s initial warmth at Ji Yilian’s thoughtfulness—coming to pick her up in the downpour—instantly turned to embarrassment and annoyance.
Yan Liu stepped outside, closed the door, and tilted her chin. “Then let’s go. We’re going to be late.”
As she spoke, she strode ahead, fully embracing her “little queen” persona.
Ji Yilian’s lips curved into a smile as she followed behind.
This was Yan Liu’s second time riding in a flying vehicle. Though she wasn’t as excited as before, she remained deeply curious about everything outside.
The torrential rain only served to highlight the era’s rapid technological advancements.
“Ji Yilian, what do people without flying vehicles do in the rain?” Yan Liu couldn’t help but ask.
She had only inherited fragments of this world—the original novel’s plot points—but knew nothing of the minute details of daily life.
Ji Yilian leaned closer, glancing at the hurried pedestrians outside the vehicle. “They get wet or use umbrellas.”
Thanks to technological advancements, most people’s physical constitutions had improved significantly. A little rain was nothing to worry about; it wouldn’t make them sick.
Yan Liu fell silent, closing her mouth.
She could sense that Ji Yilian was indifferent to the fates of others, paying them no attention.
This made the elegant Omega glance at Ji Yilian again.
Ji Yilian truly possessed an impeccable face—dark eyes, black hair, and exceptionally smooth, glossy hair. Her features were so flawless that they lacked vitality, making her seem less like a real person.
But when Ji Yilian lifted her eyelids and glanced at Yan Liu, the complex emotions flickering deep within her eyes betrayed her as a living, breathing person with her own thoughts and desires.
Yan Liu couldn’t resist asking, “Why are you helping me like this? You never cared about me before.”
She knew that for some narcissists, “human nature is inherently base.” The Original Host’s past sacrifices, poured out with all her might, had been dismissed as weakness, incompetence, and original sin.
Yet Yan Liu had only just transmigrated, done nothing for Ji Yilian—merely awakened her Spiritual Body and exchanged a few more words than usual.
How could Ji Yilian’s change be so drastic?
Ji Yilian remained noncommittal, her gaze lowered as she looked at Yan Liu, a faint curve playing at the corner of her lips.
“You never asked for my help before.”
She answered Yan Liu with surprising candor.
Yan Liu opened her mouth to retort, but then recalled the Original Host’s behavior.
Fine.
Indeed, the Original Host had been a kind-hearted pushover who would suffer to the point of death rather than burden others. Even when tears streamed down her face, she would hide away to cry in secret.
But was that Ji Yilian’s excuse for her past actions?
