Omega Taming the Black Moonlight - Chapter 51
Before she turned nineteen, Ji Yilian had never imagined she would ever find herself in such a disheveled state.
Her pheromones had so easily spiraled out of control.
Forced to this point by an Omega who wouldn’t last ten seconds against her in combat.
Until now, she had trained herself to fear neither pain nor bloodshed.
After all, as long as she drew breath and no vital organs were damaged, the Alliance’s advanced medical technology could heal her swiftly.
In contrast, injuries to the Spiritual Body posed a far more challenging problem.
Combat was her greatest strength.
It was a pursuit that ignited a primal thrill in her bl00d, sending her adrenaline surging and reinforcing her sense of power.
Compared to this, the mundane affairs of daily life seemed utterly tedious and a waste of time.
She had always been indifferent to emotions, seeing them as meaningless distractions.
Yet at this very moment, the lingering warmth of Yan Liu’s soft hand still lingered on her cheek.
The girl’s bright, almond-shaped eyes made Ji Yilian’s heart race and her breath come in ragged gasps. Her pheromones stirred like a wild beast, poised to leap from its cage and bite the girl.
I want to devour her, to completely saturate her with my scent.
I want to make her cry.
I want to make those beautiful almond eyes, those Omega eyes, lose themselves in me, spilling crystalline tears.
Ji Yilian knew she was being… terrible, terrifying.
Yan Liu had only asked her a simple question, yet Ji Yilian was already on the verge of losing control, her mind racing with such wild fantasies that even the Medical Pod couldn’t calm her.
If Yan Liu knew what I was thinking right now, would she still stand before me so unguarded, touching my face?
All of Ji Yilian’s desires vanished as quickly as they had surged.
Gritting her teeth, she seized the girl’s slender wrist, trapping it in her palm.
“Yan Liu, don’t touch an Alpha’s face so casually. Didn’t your Mentor teach you such basic etiquette in your general studies classes?”
She evaded Yan Liu’s earlier question, instead scolding the Omega, who seemed as naive as a little white rabbit.
Yan Liu felt a pang of disappointment when she couldn’t get Ji Yilian to admit she liked her.
So, capture isn’t as simple as I thought.
She had been too eager for quick results, hoping to hear the words “I like you” from this woman’s lips after just a few days.
As everyone knows, a confession is a pivotal moment in the progression of love.
In every novel and drama, once the two leads finally confess their feelings, the story is practically over.
With Ji Yilian’s grip on her wrist preventing any physical intimacy to boost her favorability, Yan Liu slumped in frustration.
“What’s a general knowledge class? I don’t know.”
I’m giving up. I’m done.
Having failed in her capture attempt, she had lost all motivation.
Ji Yilian stared at her intently.
“It seems you’ve forgotten everything I taught you.”
Yan Liu tilted her head, a flicker of confusion in her almond-shaped eyes. “Huh?”
What had Ji Yilian taught her before?
Just as the girl was about to ask, her gaze suddenly fell on the amethyst necklace around Ji Yilian’s neck, which had begun to glow with a crimson light.
As if burned, she recoiled violently, scrambling away while stammering,
“I remember, I remember!”
Ahhh, why does Ji Yilian lose control so easily?!
Yan Liu scrambled to a corner, her frantic movements resembling a frightened rabbit darting about and squeaking in panic.
Ji Yilian watched, the corners of her lips curving into a smile. Though the emptiness in her palm felt unsettling, the sight of the girl’s vivid panic filled her with a strange sense of satisfaction.
Yan Liu froze in the corner, her clear, almond-shaped eyes wide and fixed on Ji Yilian, her concern palpable.
“Why do your pheromones always go out of control?”
“Shouldn’t you see a doctor?”
“Or just use your Inhibitor?”
Ji Yilian was like a ticking time bomb, making Yan Liu afraid to interact with her without restraint.
Yan Liu couldn’t help but reflect on whether her approach to winning over Ji Yilian was flawed. Perhaps she shouldn’t have been so impulsive, closing the distance and touching Ji Yilian’s face so abruptly.
This line of thought gave her a new idea.
Every time Ji Yilian lost control, it was because they were standing too close, with some form of physical contact occurring.
Yan Liu had never been in love before, nor had she ever harbored romantic feelings for anyone.
In her eyes, girls were just girls. Unless absolutely necessary, she didn’t particularly care about being close to or far from them.
In other words, she was asexual, with no romantic inclinations whatsoever.
Her awkward attempts to conquer Ji Yilian were drawn entirely from the shallow impressions she’d picked up from half-watching movies and dramas in the past.
Without any real-world experience, of course there would be missteps.
Observing Yan Liu’s worried expression, a hint of helplessness flickered across Ji Yilian’s cold, refined features.
Seeming to recognize her own unusual behavior, she relented.
“I’ll consult the Star Physician.”
If that didn’t work…
If that didn’t work, she’d carry Inhibitors with her next time.
Ji Yilian had always looked down on Alphas who couldn’t even control their own pheromones.
It wasn’t until it was her turn that she truly understood the feeling.
You can’t know what it’s like until it happens to you.
Yan Liu didn’t even need to do anything. Just a hint of intimacy, standing unguarded beside her, and she would… feel a surge of heat.
And then there was what had just happened—Yan Liu stroking her cheek and asking that question.
Ji Yilian fell silent, reflecting on her past behavior.
Had she been too harsh on her fellow Alpha teammates?
Perhaps her weakened willpower, her susceptibility to pheromonal reactions, was connected to the injuries her Spiritual Body had sustained in the Abyss?
She couldn’t help but grasp at excuses.
Then she remembered what Instructor Green Silk had mentioned—the suddenly appearing wild S-Class Healer.
This Healer had expressed interest in taking on their Healing requests.
Perhaps it was time to prioritize this matter.
Yan Liu was eventually persuaded by Ji Yilian to visit the Ocean Restaurant.
They sat beside a crystal-clear aquarium, surrounded by a dazzling array of marine life swimming overhead and beneath their feet.
The waiters, dressed as various sea creatures, served their meals. There were adorable dolphins and grinning sharks with gleaming white teeth.
The restaurant was quite fascinating. The brightly lit dining area was decorated with colorful corals and other underwater plants, creating an illusion of being in an animal kingdom or an underwater dragon palace.
After the waiters had served their dishes, some of the marine creatures hovering above paused within Yan Liu’s line of sight, as if observing her.
Yan Liu closed her eyes, focused her senses, and whispered, “They’re unhappy.”
Since her Spiritual Body had awakened, Yan Liu’s Spiritual Power had allowed her to sense the emotions of small animals.
Or perhaps it was more accurate to say that all living beings—animals and even plants—possessed specific frequencies and emotions.
Yan Liu usually made a conscious effort to block out the spiritual energy of the surrounding crowd. When people gathered, their combined mental energy became a chaotic tapestry of joy, anger, sorrow, anxiety, and desire, weaving an invisible web that exhausted her whenever she sensed it.
She didn’t know if everyone’s spiritual power was like this.
Her own spiritual power seemed different—gentler, capable of seamlessly connecting with others’ minds.
This made it somewhat unsuitable for combat.
It seemed her choice to become a Healer had been the right one after all.
Ji Yilian gazed at her with gentle eyes, sensing the girl’s unease. “Don’t you like it here?” she asked. “We can leave and find another place.”
When facing Yan Liu, Ji Yilian’s temperament grew increasingly gentle and patient.
It seemed she was willing to do anything the girl liked.
But if Yan Liu disliked something, Ji Yilian would immediately start pondering what she did like.
Yan Liu shook her head and leaned closer to Ji Yilian, whispering, “Can you sense what they’re trying to express?”
Her delicate, trusting fingers pointed to the dolphin perched above, its eyes fixed on her with longing.
Ji Yilian followed her gaze, extended her Spiritual Power to sense the creature, and shook her head.
“I can’t.”
Everyone’s Spiritual Power had its own unique focus. Warriors typically possessed offensive-oriented abilities.
As an Alpha chosen to fight in the Abyss, Ji Yilian’s Spiritual Power was characterized by its sharpness, aggressive nature, explosive force, and sheer abundance.
Seeing Ji Yilian’s denial, Yan Liu swallowed the words she had been about to speak.
Ji Yilian was already an exceptionally powerful Alpha. Her S-Rank Spiritual Power allowed her to accomplish feats beyond the reach of others.
But if even Ji Yilian couldn’t sense what the dolphin was trying to communicate, would anyone believe her?
As the girl hesitated, Ji Yilian offered her a glass of fruit juice, her voice soothing.
“Tell me what you’re feeling.”
Perhaps it was the encouragement and patience in Ji Yilian’s eyes that gave Yan Liu a sliver of confidence.
After a moment of silence, the girl hesitantly spoke.
“That dolphin is asking for help. It says its stomach hurts.”
She even wondered if she was hallucinating. How could she possibly hear a dolphin asking for help? It was only because this world possessed Spiritual Power, a unique phenomenon, that she dared to believe it might be true.
After speaking, Yan Liu grew anxious.
“You… you don’t think I’m making this up, do you?”
She didn’t expect Ji Yilian to believe her, but if the other woman didn’t, she would feel genuinely disappointed.
Yan Liu’s luminous almond eyes always brimmed with vivid emotions, allowing Ji Yilian to see through her thoughts at a glance.
“I believe you,” Ji Yilian said calmly.
Though her words were few, they instantly lifted Yan Liu’s spirits. Encouraged, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you believe me?”
Ji Yilian didn’t answer verbally. Instead, she reached out and gently patted Yan Liu’s head, like comforting a child, and tugged at the corner of her lips in a faint smile.
“Do you want to do something about it?”
Yan Liu froze, unable to grasp the meaning of Ji Yilian’s words, until Ji Yilian summoned a waiter and explained.
“Where’s your restaurant’s veterinarian? Please call them over. We need to speak with them.”
Ji Yilian’s tone was polite, but her expression remained indifferent.
The waiter, sensing the invisible pressure of someone in a position of authority, broke out in a cold sweat.
Yan Liu immediately understood the stark difference in how Ji Yilian treated others compared to herself.
A sudden wave of anxiety washed over her, convinced Ji Yilian was about to cause a major incident. She tugged at Ji Yilian’s sleeve.
Ji Yilian merely gave her a reassuring glance, as if to calm her and urge her to remain patient.
That single look calmed Yan Liu’s anxious heart, inexplicably filling her with a sense of confidence.
It felt like a child venturing out with their parents, knowing that no matter what happened, the adults beside them would handle it. Even if the sky were to fall, someone would be there to hold it up.
How strange. That was exactly how she felt now.
Her mission in this world was to capture Ji Yilian’s heart.
Initially, she had even harbored hostility toward this woman. Yet, after just a few days together, she had begun to rely on Ji Yilian, even viewing her as a protector.
Yan Liu bit her lip, inwardly chastising herself:Â I’ve fallen for her again.
