- Chapter 1 - "Meet Again"
That night.
It was already eight o’clock in the evening when Ning Xin’er arrived at the Baogeya Hotel. She walked quickly, her face beaming with joy. As the saying goes, “A happy event makes the spirit bright.” The day after tomorrow was her wedding day, and she was filled with anticipation.
Her wedding dress was custom-made by a famous international designer. After trying it on, some minor adjustments were made. Now, her task was to pick up the final version of the dress.
Soon, Ning Xin’er followed the address in the text message and stopped outside Suite 609. She was about to knock when she noticed the door was slightly open. She hesitated, wondering if the designer, Mr. Mo Lin, had anticipated her arrival and left the door open for her. But why was it dark inside?
After a brief pause, she smiled and politely knocked on the door. “Hello, I’m Ning Xin’er, here to pick up my wedding dress for the day after tomorrow. Is anyone there?”
She knocked for a while, but there was no response. Ning Xin’er hesitated, doubting if she had the right place. Just as she was about to leave, a large hand suddenly reached out and pulled her inside.
With a loud “bang,” the door was forcefully shut and locked. A hot body pressed her against the door. In the darkness, Ning Xin’er couldn’t see the person’s face but could tell it was a tall man.
A man?!
Ning Xin’er’s alarm bells went off, and she struggled against the man pressing tightly against her. “Mr. Mo Lin, I’m here for the wedding dress, you…”
Before she could finish, the man kissed her lips, his kiss urgent and punishing. His lips were cold, his body unusually hot, and his grip was domineering!
Ning Xin’er’s eyes widened as she realized he wasn’t Mr. Mo Lin! “Mmm… let go…”
The strength difference between men and women was too great, and Ning Xin’er’s struggles were futile. She was furious, especially at the man’s bold hand roaming over her body. She lifted her leg to kick him, but he quickly pinned her knee down, trapping her between his legs.
He spoke in a hoarse voice, “Ning Xin’er, help me.”
Ning Xin’er was stunned. His voice sounded familiar. “Who are you? Let me go!”
Taking advantage of his speaking, Ning Xin’er turned her head to avoid his warm lips. From their close contact, she could feel his body temperature was abnormal. Had he been drugged?!
Ning Xin’er frowned. She wouldn’t be anyone’s “unlucky antidote.” She quietly reached for the door handle.
“What’s wrong? It’s been so long,” the man grabbed her chin, forcing her to face him. “You can’t even recognize my voice.”
In the darkness, his eyes were sharp like a beast’s, seemingly piercing through the darkness to see her clearly. By the faint moonlight from the window, Ning Xin’er vaguely saw his high nose, chiseled face, and wet black hair…
Ning Xin’er’s heart skipped a beat. It was him! Huo Jinyan! Her first boyfriend, whom she had dated for only a month!
Memories flooded Ning Xin’er’s mind, and the memories from three years ago were not pleasant, even particularly…
“Let go, let me go.” Ning Xin’er’s face darkened as she broke free from his strong arms and turned to the door, ready to run outside.
But Huo Jinyan was quick, grabbing her slender waist and prying her small hand off the door handle.
With a “bang,” he closed the door and carried Ning Xin’er to the bedroom.
“What are you doing, Huo Jinyan? Do you believe I’ll report you?” Ning Xin’er was thrown onto the bed, staring defensively at Huo Jinyan.
Huo Jinyan’s eyes were bloodshot, and he sneered at her harmless actions.
He pulled Ning Xin’er’s retreating leg onto his lean waist and smirked evilly, “It’s not like we haven’t slept together before; what are you afraid of?”
Losing her patience, Huo Jinyan pressed down on her, blocking her mouth and getting straight to the point.
Under the influence of the drug, Huo Jinyan showed no mercy.
No matter how Ning Xin’er cried and shouted, his actions were not gentle at all.
After an unknown amount of time, Huo Jinyan grabbed Ning Xin’er’s waist, forcefully turning her over, pressing tightly against her back, his voice magnetic and seductive. “Again, you must help me!”
That night, Ning Xin’er felt an endless shame…
…
The next day, Ning Xin’er woke up at two thirty in the afternoon.
She propped herself up, her whole body aching, and looked around. She was alone.
At that moment, her phone buzzed.
Her attention shifted to the phone on the bedside table. She opened WeChat and saw a bombardment of messages from her “Mother.”
Hundreds of messages, questioning why she didn’t come home, asking if she was okay, and threatening to call the police if she didn’t respond.
Ning Xin’er rubbed her forehead and quickly typed a message to assure her mother she was safe.
Her mother almost instantly replied with a voice message: “You little rascal, as long as you’re okay! Remember the wedding dress; the wedding is tomorrow; don’t make people worry.”
Ning Xin’er burst into tears.
Right, where was the wedding dress she was supposed to pick up?
“You’re getting married?” Huo Jinyan appeared out of nowhere, whispering in her ear, “To whom?”
