Ning Xin’er was startled.
Instinctively, she dodged to the side, looking fearfully at the man wearing only a towel. “Why are you still here?”
Huo Jinyan’s eyes were deep, staring at Ning Xin’er with gritted teeth. “You left me to marry another man?”
Left him?
Mentioning this, Ning Xin’er was speechless. Back then, he had coldly told her he was tired of playing and wanted her to leave. And now he was turning the tables!
“My business has nothing to do with you.” Ning Xin’er glared at him, lifting the blanket to get out of bed.
She hated him and had sworn never to have anything to do with him again. During her years at university in Yun City, she had deliberately avoided him, always hoping to leave Yun City quickly.
Who would dare provoke the prince of Yun City?
Huo Jinyan wouldn’t let her go. He grabbed her with his long arm, pulling her back.
“I’m your man; how is it unrelated?” Huo Jinyan’s hard muscles pressed against her soft back, his anger barely contained. “Your first man was me, Ning Xin’er!”
Ning Xin’er struggled, but his strength was overwhelming.
She took a deep breath, her face not looking good, and glanced at him sideways. “Men are everywhere! You’re not the only one.”
Huo Jinyan’s body stiffened, anger flashing on his face. He forcibly turned Ning Xin’er to face him, gritting his teeth. “What did you say?”
“I said men… mmm…”
Huo Jinyan roughly silenced her, not letting her utter a single word. He didn’t like those words at all.
Ning Xin’er’s face turned red with anger. Unable to bear it any longer, she raised her hand and slapped him.
The sound was exceptionally loud.
The air instantly froze. Huo Jinyan looked at her in disbelief, while Ning Xin’er glared at him with anger.
After a moment, Huo Jinyan stood up abruptly, glaring at her with resentment. “Ning Xin’er, you’re something else!”
With that, Huo Jinyan stormed out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind him.
Once Ning Xin’er was sure she was alone, she let out a breath. What a terrible morning!
Oh no, what a terrible afternoon!
After calming down, she got up and picked up her clothes from the foot of the bed. They were wrinkled but not torn, so she put them on.
In the living room, Ning Xin’er found the wedding dress she was supposed to pick up. Next to it on the coffee table was a note from the designer, Mr. Mo Lin.
The note explained that he had to return to England and had left the dress with her “friend,” Mr. Huo.
Her friend? Mr. Huo? No way, who was friends with him?
But how did Huo Jinyan know Mo Lin and that she was coming to pick up the dress?!
Even after getting into the taxi, Ning Xin’er couldn’t figure it out.
…
Meanwhile, at the hotel.
The door next to Suite 609 was wide open. Huo Jinyan stared in the direction where the girl’s figure had disappeared, his eyes deep and unreadable.
Until his assistant, Wang Zhe, approached and respectfully reported, “Mr. Huo, we found out that according to Mr. Mo Lin, the owners of the wedding dress are a middle-aged couple, not Miss Ning.”
Huo Jinyan raised an eyebrow, feeling much better. “A middle-aged couple?”
He turned to Wang Zhe and asked, “When is the wedding again?”
“Third Master’s wedding…?” Wang Zhe scratched his head. Their purpose for coming was to attend the wedding, but had the busy Mr. Huo forgotten the time?
“It’s tomorrow at eleven o’clock in the morning.”
“Are the gifts ready?” Huo Jinyan’s interest was piqued, and he smiled meaningfully.
“Didn’t you tell us to take them to the hotel in advance?” Wang Zhe was puzzled. Had their boss lost his memory?
Could the result of the sudden bloom of the iron tree be selective amnesia?
He knew a bit about last night’s situation.
He had brought the antidote but didn’t know whether to enter or not. Hearing how absorbed his boss was, he retreated with the antidote and left a “Do Not Disturb” sign at the door.
On Wednesday, a grand wedding took place in Nancheng.
The guests were all seated.
Ning Xin’er had woken up at five o’clock in the morning to help the bride get ready. After filming the full scene, she returned to the hotel at 10 o’clock.
“Mother, today you are the most beautiful woman in all of Nancheng,” Ning Xin’er said, smiling at her mother’s reflection, genuinely happy for her.
Yes, the wedding’s star today was her mother, Wen Nuan.
Ning Xin’er had grown up without a father. Her father had abandoned them 23 years ago, taking money and running away after going bankrupt.
He left Ning Xin’er and her mother to fend for themselves.
Wen Nuan loved her daughter dearly. Despite being in debt, she moved to a small town on the edge of Nancheng, raised Ning Xin’er alone, and brought her up with love.
Life was tough, but she always gave the best to Ning Xin’er, ensuring she grew up in a loving home.
Finally, Wen Nuan found a good match.
Uncle Song Yan, her stepfather, was Wen Nuan’s childhood friend.
He had remained single for Wen Nuan for over 30 years. At 43, he finally married his true love.
“Silly girl, always making your mom happy,” Wen Nuan gently flicked Ning Xin’er’s forehead with a loving smile.
“By the way, where is Uncle Song?” Ning Xin’er looked around curiously.
Wen Nuan patted her hand and smiled, “I forgot to tell you, your Uncle Song’s nephew came for our wedding. He’s gone to pick someone up.”
“His nephew? That means your future brother!”
“He’s from Yun City. I heard he’s a very handsome young man.”
From Yun City?
Ning Xin’er raised an eyebrow. “Uncle Song’s relatives are willing to send a representative?”
Uncle Song’s relatives were mysterious and left no trace. Although the guests were many, they were mostly Uncle Song’s business partners.
Just as Wen Nuan was about to say something, the door to the suite suddenly opened.
Song Yan walked in, tall and imposing, followed by another tall man.
“Ah Nuan, Xin’er, guess who’s here?” Uncle Song Yan smiled and stepped aside, revealing the man behind him.
Upon hearing this, Ning Xin’er and her mother looked up.
When she saw that familiar face, Ning Xin’er’s heart stopped for a moment.
It was… him?!
