Scumbag!
Always wanting more while holding onto what he already has!
Just thinking about sleeping with him a few days ago made Ning Xin’er feel uncomfortable all over.
Regret. She regretted it so much.
“Ning Xin’er, your Uncle Song already spoke to Jin Yan and asked him to look after you in Yun City. That way, I can be rest assured,” Ning’s mother said as she folded her daughter’s clothes and packed them into the suitcase.
Ning Xin’er resisted the idea—there was no need.
She could take care of herself just fine. When she was an exchange student abroad, she handled everything on her own.
She didn’t want Huo Jinyan’s so-called care.
“Mm, I got it.”
Not wanting to worry her mother, she simply agreed.
“But even though Jin Yan is your brother, you should still be mindful of boundaries and keep an appropriate distance,” her mother added.
“Your Uncle Song said that Jin Yan and his girlfriend have a great relationship. You don’t want his girlfriend to misunderstand anything.”
Ning’s mother knew that her marriage to Song Yan had been met with complete opposition from the Huo family.
Because of that, aside from Huo Jinyan, not a single member of the Huo family had attended their wedding.
In name, Ning Xin’er was Huo Jinyan’s sister.
But whether the Huo family actually acknowledged that was another matter.
Until the Huo family accepted her mother’s marriage to Song Yan, Ning Xin’er wouldn’t truly be recognized.
“Mm, I understand.”
She responded obediently. Her mother was just afraid she would cause trouble for others.
Don’t worry, she thought. She wouldn’t be a bother.
In fact, she planned to stay as far away from Huo Jinyan as possible.
By the time she finished packing, it was already past eleven. Uncle Song had just returned home as well.
After an early lunch, the family left for the airport at 12:30 in the afternoon.
Uncle Song and her mother drove her there, and their farewell was filled with warmth.
At 4:30 PM, Ning Xin’er arrived at Yun City Airport.
Standing by the crowded airport entrance, she glanced around.
As expected, Huo Jingtian hadn’t come to pick her up.
So, he really did keep his word.
Ning Xin’er pulled out her phone and booked a ride.
In less than thirty minutes, she arrived near the university district. One more turn, and she’d reach the school gate.
“That’s strange. This road is usually clear. Why is it so…”
The driver frowned at the road ahead and said, “Young lady, it looks like there’s a traffic jam. We might not be able to get through.”
Ning Xin’er leaned forward and looked.
Something seemed to be blocking half the road, leaving only one lane open, causing congestion.
That had never happened near the university before.
“It’s fine, I can wait,” she said. Dragging two suitcases made it inconvenient to walk.
“As long as you don’t mind. The fare is charged by time.”
“No problem.”
But after more than twenty minutes, the ride had barely moved a few steps.
Ning Xin’er: “…”
At this rate, she wouldn’t make it to her dorm before dark!
Forget it.
She might as well walk—it would only take a few minutes.
No need to waste more time.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a WeChat notification.
Huo Jingtian: Xin’er, why haven’t you arrived at the school yet?
Ning Xin’er: Don’t even mention it. There’s a traffic jam at the school gate. I’ve been waiting for almost half an hour. I’ll have to walk there.
After sending her reply, she put her phone away and told the driver, “I’ll just get off here and walk.”
The driver nodded and helped her take out her luggage.
With a suitcase in each hand, she crossed the street and walked toward the school.
Just as she finished crossing, a familiar figure emerged from the crowd.
She recognized him instantly.
Who else could it be but Huo Jingtian?
He stood tall at 1.88 meters, making him stand out effortlessly in the crowd.
His features were striking—handsome but not delicate, exuding a cool and aloof charm.
Dressed in a loose white shirt, he looked even paler in contrast.
Honestly, his skin was unbelievably fair.
Yet, no one at school would ever call him a “pretty boy.”
One glance at his tall, well-built frame was enough to dispel any such thoughts.
Anyone who saw him would think the same thing—Huo Jingtian must have incredible genes!
There was something mysteriously alluring about that white shirt, sparking curiosity among the female students.
Many secretly wondered—did he have a six-pack under there?
A solid 99% of them believed the answer was yes.
But no one had ever actually seen him show his abs.
Some girls had even “accidentally” spilled water on him, hoping to catch a glimpse through his shirt.
Not one had succeeded.
“Xin’er, welcome back,” Huo Jingtian greeted with a smile.
Before she could react, he reached out and took both of her suitcases from her hands.
