- Chapter 32: Kiss Me
“Sis… do you miss me?” Fu Chaoying’s voice was soft and sweet, laced with a tipsy clinginess.
On the other end of the line, the breathing remained light. After a brief silence, Ye Jiayuan’s cool, low voice finally responded, “Come over first.”
The answer was expected, but Fu Chaoying wasn’t discouraged. She curved her lips into a smile, as if she could already picture Ye Jiayuan’s composed demeanor on the other side.
“It shouldn’t be long now. I’m signing the contract with Senior Dong tomorrow and will probably set off in a day or two.”
Ye Jiayuan paused for two seconds before asking, “You’ve already decided to work with her?”
Her tone gave no hint of approval or disapproval, but there was a faint trace of probing.
“Mhm.” A thought flashed through Fu Chaoying’s mind, and she deliberately drew out her words before adding, “Senior Dong is really nice, you know.”
“And…” Fu Chaoying trailed off, her voice lifting slightly at the end with a subtle hint of testing, “You’ve decided to invest in their project too, so it must be good, right?”
Ye Jiayuan gave a quiet hum before saying firmly, “Go home early. Don’t drink too much.”
“Okay. Goodnight.” Fu Chaoying replied obediently.
“Goodnight.”
Fu Chaoying returned to Dong Muyu’s table, clinked glasses with her once more, and downed the last of her cocktail before bidding farewell.
As soon as she got into the car heading home, she felt her phone vibrate. Opening it, she saw a message from Ye Jiayuan:
[Home yet?]
A quiet sweetness bubbled up in Fu Chaoying’s chest, and her lips curled unconsciously before she quickly suppressed it, replying:
[In the car.]
The chat remained silent—no extra concern, no sweet nothings, as if it were just a simple check-in.
Fu Chaoying turned off her phone and slowly closed her eyes, letting the dizziness from the alcohol wash over her.
Just as she was drifting into drowsiness, the sudden ring of her phone pierced through the quiet car, startling her.
Her heart raced with a mix of anticipation and nervousness as she lightly tapped to answer.
On the screen, Ye Jiayuan’s exquisite face appeared. She was wearing a simple long-sleeved pajama set, the collar slightly open to reveal delicate collarbones.
Her expression was as calm as ever, her gaze deep and focused—yet it also seemed to carry a hint of tenderness.
“Sis?” Fu Chaoying’s voice carried a tipsy laziness as she called out indistinctly, “Why aren’t you asleep yet…”
Her tone was unbearably soft and sweet.
Ye Jiayuan gazed at the flickering light on her screen and those drunkenly hazy eyes, a complex emotion flashing through her own. “Are you drunk?” she asked helplessly.
Fu Chaoying shook her head with a smile. “Not at all.”
Observing her cheerful expression, Ye Jiayuan sighed almost imperceptibly. “Don’t hang up the video.” It wasn’t safe for her to ride alone after drinking.
Fu Chaoying nodded obediently, her fingers unconsciously tracing the edge of her phone. “Okay~” Her voice was as soft as an affectionate kitten’s.
Ye Jiayuan’s eyes swept over her slightly flushed cheeks and those dazed eyes before asking gently, “Did Dong Muyu take you all drinking?”
“Mhm,” Fu Chaoying nodded again. “Senior Dong is so talkative, and the atmosphere was great, so someone suggested we drink.”
A shadow flickered briefly in Ye Jiayuan’s eyes as she said softly, “Don’t drink so much next time.”
Fu Chaoying giggled, holding up three fingers with playful exaggeration, “It wasn’t much—just four glasses.”
Ye Jiayuan couldn’t help but laugh.
They chatted idly until Fu Chaoying finally arrived home. Seeing Aunt Wu waiting at the door, she smiled at her phone. “Aunt Wu’s here to get me. Gonna hang up now.”
“Okay,” Ye Jiayuan replied before ending the call.
Fu Chaoying headed straight for the shower. As hot water cascaded over her skin, her mind gradually cleared. Emerging refreshed, she was drying her hair when her phone rang again.
Pausing briefly, she recognized it wasn’t Ye Jiayuan’s custom ringtone—it was her cousin Fu Chaohua calling.
Picking up, she heard Fu Chaohua’s excited voice: “I passed my blind review! And got two A’s!”
“Wow! Sis, you’re amazing!” Fu Chaoying cheered, laughing. “Congratulations!”
Their conversation was brief before Fu Chaohua casually asked, “How’s the collaboration with Muyu going?”
A spark of amusement lit Fu Chaoying’s eyes as she teased, “Pretty well. We’re signing the contract tomorrow.”
Fu Chaohua chuckled lightly. “Congratulations to you too, then! Double celebration!”
Laughing, Fu Chaoying played along. “Exactly! Should we book our flights now?”
After coordinating schedules—Fu Chaohua had a farewell dinner tomorrow evening, while Fu Chaoying needed to handle work handovers in the afternoon—they settled on Thursday morning for their departure.
Once the tickets were booked, Fu Chaoying immediately sent the details to Ye Jiayuan, who likely was asleep and didn’t reply. After a few more words with her cousin and blow-drying her hair, Fu Chaoying drifted off peacefully.
–
On Wednesday morning, Fu Chaoying and Dong Muyu’s teams formally signed the contract, cementing their partnership.
Post-signing, an elated Dong Muyu invited everyone to lunch. “Nan Yan Club as usual?”
Fu Chaoying smiled. “You’re too generous, Senior Dong, but I’m craving that stir-fry place behind Nan University today.”
Many alumni from both teams chimed in: “That place is legit!”
“It’s been ages since I’ve been!”
Eyes crinkling with delight, Fu Chaoying followed them to the parking garage.
Just as she was about to get in the car, Dong Muyu casually remarked, “By the way, is your cousin at Southern University? Should we invite her to join us?”
Fu Chaoying pretended to pause for a moment before smiling, “Sure, I’ll ask her.”
Once in the car, Fu Chaoying calmly messaged Fu Chaohua: [Sis, are you on campus? Are you free for lunch today?]
Fu Chaohua, currently with little to do, replied instantly: [What’s up? Lunch date?]
Fu Chaoying: [Senior Dong and I are heading back to Southern U soon. Want to join us? ❤]
Fu Chaohua’s “typing” status lingered for a long time before she finally sent: [Wouldn’t it be awkward if I came?]
Fu Chaoying: [Senior Dong was the one who asked about you first ❤]
After sending the message, Fu Chaoying couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at her lips.
Having arranged with her cousin, Fu Chaoying sent Dong Muyu a message informing her that Fu Chaohua would be joining them. In response, she received a photo—
It was taken during their contract signing, the two of them standing side by side holding the document, beaming brightly.
Dong Muyu: [Mind if I post this on my Moments?]
Fu Chaoying: [Not at all. I’ll post it too.]
With that, Fu Chaoying saved the photo to her album and shared it on her long-dormant Moments: [Collaborating with a fellow school senior~]
The moment she posted it, she received a flood of likes.
Among them was a comment from her aunt: [Xiao Dong seems like a great girl. Maybe you should see where things go?]
Fu Chaoying’s brow twitched. She decided to pretend she hadn’t seen it, yet couldn’t shake the uncanny feeling of being set up by an elder.
She sighed inwardly, but a few minutes later, she noticed Ye Jiayuan had liked the post.
Her heartbeat quickened slightly. Hovering her finger over the screen, she debated whether to message her first, but it felt too deliberate.
In the end, she tapped into their chat, only to find their conversation still stuck on that perfunctory [Good morning] from earlier.
Pursing her lips, Fu Chaoying turned off her phone, but her mind involuntarily drifted back to her—to all their shared moments. She closed her eyes, trying to rest.
By the time they arrived at Southern University’s parking lot, Fu Chaohua was already waiting at the exit.
Her gaze flickered between Fu Chaoying and Dong Muyu, a hint of unspoken curiosity flashing in her eyes as if trying to discern something from their interaction.
Fu Chaoying hurried over, linking arms with her cousin and introducing her warmly to the group, “This is my cousin, Fu Chaohua, a Ph.D. student at Southern U.”
Fu Chaohua waved with a gentle smile, “Hello, everyone.”
Dong Muyu’s eyes curved slightly as she introduced her team members.
After exchanging pleasantries, the group headed toward the backstreet.
Fu Chaoying listened as Dong Muyu and Fu Chaohua chatted.
They maintained their usual polite and courteous demeanor, with even a hint of subtle distance, yet Fu Chaoying couldn’t shake the feeling that the atmosphere between them was somewhat peculiar.
It wasn’t until Fu Chaohua casually mentioned her graduation trip to Hong Kong the next day that things clicked.
Dong Muyu smiled and chimed in, “What a coincidence. Our overseas edition launch event is also in Hong Kong. Maybe we’ll run into each other.”
Fu Chaoying couldn’t help but connect the dots—Fu Chaohua was a fan of Dong Muyu’s company’s games, so of course she’d be aware of the overseas release.
Thus, Fu Chaohua choosing Hong Kong as their destination, despite having visited multiple times before, was no accident.
Perhaps she had another motive.
Fu Chaoying’s eyes curved into crescents. “Then when Senior Sister is in Hong Kong, we can meet up again and have a meal together.”
Dong Muyu gave a slight nod but deftly steered the conversation elsewhere.
By the time they reached the restaurant and the dishes were served, Fu Chaoying snapped a photo and sent it to Ye Jiayuan.
Since it was lunchtime, the reply came swiftly: Back at Nanda again?
Fu Chaoying: Mhm, came back to eat after signing the contract~
A long silence followed. Just as Fu Chaoying assumed there’d be no further response, a message finally arrived: I’ll pick you up tomorrow.
The words were as concise as ever, yet carried an undeniable edge of authority.
A sweet warmth bloomed in Fu Chaoying’s chest. She sent back a cute sticker before turning off her phone.
With Dong Muyu present, the meal was naturally lively. The two teams were already familiar, so no ice-breaking was needed.
Fu Chaohua also spoke more than usual, and Fu Chaoying watched with an amused smile as she played the role of the perfect straight man.
The group enjoyed their meal, and Fu Chaoying returned to work in the afternoon.
That evening, as she packed for her trip, a message from Auntie Chu popped up: Xiao Ying, I heard Xiao Yuan bought property in Hong Kong. While you’re there, could you check if she’s hiding a beauty in a golden house?
Another message followed immediately: Help me see what the girl looks like, her personality, and how things are between her and Xiao Yuan.
Fu Chaoying’s brow twitched. She screenshotted the messages and forwarded them to Ye Jiayuan with the caption: Heard you’ve got a beauty hidden away? [Pitiful]
She waited and waited, but no reply came.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, a voice call came through.
The moment she answered, Ye Jiayuan’s cool voice drifted from the other end—
“Xiao Ying.”
Fu Chaoying’s heart skipped a beat. Her lips curled as she deliberately teased, “Heard you’ve got a beauty hidden away?”
A brief pause. Then, a low murmur: “Mhm. Just wait till you get here.”
Fu Chaoying blinked, unable to suppress a smile. “Which house did you buy?”
“The one you liked the most.”
Her mind raced, flipping through memories of the real estate listings she’d browsed, but she couldn’t recall ever mentioning a favorite to Ye Jiayuan.
“Which one did I like the most?” she pressed.
“You’ll know when you arrive,” Ye Jiayuan replied, her voice deep.
Fu Chaoying’s curiosity was thoroughly piqued. She couldn’t resist whining, “I wish I could fly over right now and see this golden house of yours.”
“See you tomorrow,” Ye Jiayuan said softly.
“See you tomorrow!”
After hanging up, Fu Chaoying’s mind replayed Ye Jiayuan’s words—Just wait till you get here—on an endless loop.
It left her restless with anticipation.
–
On Thursday morning, Fu Chaoying and Fu Chaohua met as planned at the airport.
By noon, they had landed in Hong Kong City. Before even clearing customs, they received a call from Liu Xin, Ye Jiayuan’s assistant.
Liu Xin said she would pick them up and informed them of the specific meeting point.
Fu Chaoying politely thanked her, but after hanging up, she couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed.
She had thought Ye Jiayuan would come to greet them in person.
Despite her inner disappointment, Fu Chaoying maintained her composure and led Fu Chaohua to meet Liu Xin.
After walking for a few minutes, they finally spotted Liu Xin.
Liu Xin warmly helped them with their luggage, smiling as she explained, “President Ye had an urgent meeting at the last minute and couldn’t get away, so she sent me to pick you up.”
Fu Chaoying’s expression remained neutral, but her heart still ached with disappointment. Subconsciously, she checked her phone—no new messages from Ye Jiayuan.
She pressed her lips together, silently consoling herself: She’s just too busy. It’s understandable she couldn’t make time to come.
As they approached the car, Fu Chaoying moved to help Liu Xin with the luggage, but the moment the trunk opened, her heart skipped a beat—
Ye Jiayuan’s cool, composed voice rang clearly from inside the car, carrying a faint electric charge that instantly pierced her heart.
Accompanying it was the faint, familiar scent of magnolia—fresh and lingering—wrapping around her in an instant.
Fu Chaoying’s pulse quickened uncontrollably, her fingers trembling ever so slightly as she placed the luggage in the trunk.
As if drawn by some unseen force, she opened the backseat door and slid in beside Ye Jiayuan.
Noticing her arrival, Ye Jiayuan paused the meeting, muted her microphone, and turned slightly toward her. “You’re here,” she said, her eyes holding a trace of imperceptible warmth.
Then, with a slight nod toward Fu Chaohua in the passenger seat, she added, “I’ll finish this meeting first. Make yourselves comfortable.”
“Take your time, Jiayuan-jie,” Fu Chaoying murmured softly before obediently turning her gaze out the window.
The weather in Hong Kong City was splendid today—clear skies, endless blue, and warm sunlight streaming through the window, casting a comforting glow.
Fu Chaoying suddenly found herself looking forward to seeing Ye Jiayuan’s new home.
The soothing cadence of Ye Jiayuan’s voice beside her was deeply reassuring. Listening to her methodically handle work, Fu Chaoying gradually relaxed and soon drifted into a light doze.
She wasn’t sure how much time had passed when Fu Chaohua gently roused her. “Xiao Ying, we’re here.”
Blinking groggily, Fu Chaoying opened her eyes—only to meet a pair of deep, tranquil ones.
Those eyes were calm as still water, yet a flicker of amusement passed through them.
“We’ve arrived,” Ye Jiayuan said in her steady voice.
Finally fully awake, Fu Chaoying nodded quickly, pushed the door open, and followed her cousin in a daze into Ye Jiayuan’s new home.
Ye Jiayuan shared the passcode with them. “You can rest here for the time being.”
Fu Chaoying glanced around, then instinctively stepped toward the balcony. It was a perfect vantage point, offering an unobstructed view of the entire bay.
The duplex sea-view apartment was elegantly designed, minimalist yet grand.
Just as Fu Chaoying was admiring the scenery, a voice came from behind her: “Do you like it?”
Her heart lurched. Turning in a daze, she found Ye Jiayuan standing mere inches away—Fu Chaohua was no longer in the living room.
Meeting her gaze, Fu Chaoying swallowed lightly, then tugged gently at her sleeve. “Jiejie… you know me too well.”
Ye Jiayuan lowered her gaze to look at her hand, then raised her own to hold it, rubbing it gently in her palm for a moment before letting go. “As long as you like it,” she said.
The sound of a suitcase zipper came from the guest room nearby, and Ye Jiayuan subtly distanced herself.
Within seconds, Fu Chaohua poked her head out. “Jiayuan-jie, should we go eat first? I’m practically starving.”
Ye Jiayuan gave a slight nod. “Let’s go.”
At the entrance, she handed each of them a car key.
After lunch, Ye Jiayuan had to return to work. Fu Chaoying and Fu Chaohua saw her off downstairs, both unanimously deciding to go home and catch up on sleep.
The journey had left them exhausted, and they needed proper rest.
Besides, neither of them had likely come to Hong Kong for “sightseeing.”
After entering the apartment with the passcode, Fu Chaohua went straight to her bedroom to sleep.
Fu Chaoying, however, stood hesitantly by her suitcase, unsure which room to choose.
She gently pushed open a door to peek inside and immediately spotted the oil painting she had given Ye Jiayuan hanging on the wallpaper.
Fu Chaoying froze for a second, then a deep smile curved her lips.
She quietly closed the door and found another guest room instead.
After a long nap in the afternoon, the sisters went out for food and shopping.
Fu Chaoying sent Ye Jiayuan a few photos but received no reply, guessing she was working overtime again.
She let out an almost imperceptible sigh.
Since they didn’t have much time together, the sisters decided against crowded places and opted to return home for cocktails and a movie.
They bought ingredients and bar tools from the supermarket downstairs, following an online tutorial to mix drinks that turned out surprisingly good.
Chatting, gossiping, and discussing everything under the sun, neither paid much attention to the movie once the alcohol kicked in.
Fu Chaohua’s cheeks flushed pink, slightly tipsy, her words flowing more freely under the influence.
“Xiao Ying…” Her voice was slurred, carrying a hint of unnoticed confusion.
“Tell me, isn’t it pathetic if someone starts having a crush on the person who used to have a crush on them?”
Fu Chaoying’s heart skipped a beat, instantly understanding her meaning—and who she was referring to.
She shook her head gently, looking at her seriously. “Some people are just slow to realize their feelings. It’s normal to not recognize your own heart.”
“What’s rare is if this person wakes up to it and the other is still waiting for them.”
Fu Chaohua took a few more sips, her gaze hazy. “Who knows… if she’s still waiting…”
Something flashed in Fu Chaoying’s mind, and she inexplicably felt certain. “She is.”
Fu Chaohua shook her head, seemingly unconvinced.
Seeing this, Fu Chaoying didn’t press further, simply reaching out to take her glass. “Alright, that’s enough for now. Let’s stop drinking.”
Fu Chaoying helped her lie down on the bed in the bedroom, tucked her in, then returned to the living room.
Gazing at the unfinished alcohol and the various cocktail ingredients scattered across the table, a faint smile curled at the corners of Fu Chaoying’s lips.
–
Ye Jiayuan had just returned home after overtime when, upon opening the door, she saw Fu Chaoying slowly pouring alcohol into her mouth.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Fu Chaoying seemed slightly startled. She turned her head and grinned foolishly at her. “Sister? Why are you here?”
Ye Jiayuan scanned the room but found no trace of a third person. After changing her shoes, she quickly walked over and took in the sight of the toppled bottles and jars. With a sigh, she said, “Why did you drink so much?”
Fu Chaoying set down her glass, looking somewhat aggrieved. She wrapped her arms around Ye Jiayuan’s waist, pressing her face against her abdomen, her voice soft and sweet. “Sister, hold me…”
Ye Jiayuan’s gaze swept over her dazed eyes and slightly parted pink lips.
Her throat moved slightly as she bent down to lift Fu Chaoying from the couch, but then paused, as if debating which room to take her to.
Fu Chaoying took the opportunity to loop her arms around Ye Jiayuan’s neck, nuzzling against her collarbone.
The warmth of Fu Chaoying’s breath against her neck and the softness of her touch made Ye Jiayuan’s body stiffen instantly. Then, she strode quickly toward her own bedroom—only to stop abruptly at the doorway.
As if suddenly snapping back to her senses, Ye Jiayuan took a deep breath, turned, and carried Fu Chaoying into the guest room instead, carefully laying her down on the bed.
But the arms around her neck refused to let go. “Sister… don’t you want to kiss me?”
Fu Chaoying gazed up at her with pitiful, pleading eyes, her voice tender and laced with an irresistible allure.
Ye Jiayuan looked down at those pink lips, her eyes darkening, her throat bobbing. With effort, she averted her gaze and said in a low voice, “I’ll go lock the door first.”
Even after hearing this, Fu Chaoying didn’t release her. Instead, her eyes shimmered even more enticingly. “Then carry me to lock it.”
Helpless, Ye Jiayuan lifted her by the waist again, walked to the door, and turned the lock.
But the moment she took a step, Fu Chaoying pressed their noses together and murmured, “Sister…”
Her tone carried a hint of coquettishness, mixed with a subtle, tantalizing temptation.
Ye Jiayuan raised her eyes, meeting Fu Chaoying’s hazy, glistening gaze. Her breathing grew increasingly hot and uneven.
After waiting in vain for a kiss, Fu Chaoying rubbed against her in her arms—only to feel Ye Jiayuan start walking back toward the bed.
A moment later, her back met the soft mattress, and then Ye Jiayuan pressed down over her.
An indescribable tension suddenly flared in Fu Chaoying’s chest. Her throat moved as her gaze fixed on the pair of lips above her—lips that were tightly pressed together, their shape impossibly perfect.
But before the kiss could descend, just as Fu Chaoying was about to speak, those lips suddenly crashed down on hers with lightning speed.
Alcohol and Ye Jiayuan’s scorching breath intertwined as her tongue teased and sucked at Fu Chaoying’s.
The longing from days apart and the restraint they’d shown in each other’s presence because of others now erupted in an instant.
The wet sounds of their entangled lips and tongues were startlingly loud in the quiet room, acting like a catalyst that accelerated both their heartbeats.
Between the alcohol and Ye Jiayuan’s burning breaths, Fu Chaoying felt her body grow weak, as if floating on clouds.
Ye Jiayuan kissed her until she was nearly breathless, and with every teasing brush of her hands, Fu Chaoying’s body trembled uncontrollably.
Despite her body feeling weak, Fu Chaoying couldn’t resist touching her.
Waves of heat surged through her, and Fu Chaoying couldn’t help but let out a soft moan.
Ye Jiayuan’s fingertips had somehow found their way to her collarbone, tracing light, teasing circles before her lips replaced them, pressing gentle kisses along her neck.
Fu Chaoying arched her head back instinctively, wrapping her arms around Ye Jiayuan’s neck to give her better access. Meanwhile, her hands wandered elsewhere, leaving trails of shivers in their wake.
That familiar sensation washed over her again.
Breathless, Fu Chaoying gasped out, “Sister…”
“Hmm?” Ye Jiayuan lifted her head slightly, her voice cool yet laced with an imperceptible hint of temptation. “What do you need, calling me like that?”
The corners of Fu Chaoying’s eyes were already tinged pink, her rationality slipping away, leaving only raw desire.
