Pair A? No Thanks! [Transmigration] - Chapter 9
Upon entering, Shi Ning surveyed the entire house.
Although it was an old complex, the interior environment was quite nice. The decor was new, not the “Syrian style” Shi Ning had previously guessed, but rather had a Japanese feel, entirely wooden, and very simple and elegant.
Su Tianxue bent down and handed her a pair of slippers.
“Newly bought,” she said.
Shi Ning looked at the slippers with pink bunny ears: “Su Tianxue, are you doing this on purpose?”
Su Tianxue: “You don’t have to wear them if you don’t like them.”
Shi Ning: “Actually, there’s always a young girl living inside me.”
She put on the pink bunny-ear slippers and stared at her feet for a long time. They were surprisingly cute. Pink, a must-have for tough guys—there was something to it.
“Make yourself at home,” Su Tianxue glanced at Shi Ning. “Where’s your luggage?”
Shi Ning wiggled her slippers: “Wife, you bought slippers, didn’t you buy anything else for me?”
“You’ve even prepared shoes for me, are you really looking forward to living with me?”
Su Tianxue: “Yesterday, the downstairs shop had a ‘buy two get one free’ offer. This pair for you was the free one.”
Shi Ning wasn’t discouraged: “Anything wife gives me goes straight to my heart. You’re so good to me.”
Su Tianxue couldn’t take it anymore and turned to leave.
Shi Ning asked her, “Wife, where are you going?”
Su Tianxue angrily replied: “To cook!”
Shi Ning quickly got up: “Wife, I’ll join you.”
Su Tianxue paused at the kitchen counter, turned and asked Shi Ning, “Can you stop calling me wife?”
Shi Ning tilted her head: “Why?”
Su Tianxue said with a cold face: “We’re only married by agreement, not real partners. You calling me that makes me feel very awkward.”
Shi Ning: “I am a law-ababiding woman, and the law states you are currently my wife, I can’t help it.”
“A different address is fine too.” Shi Ning pondered for a moment, “Madam, dear, wife—”
For a moment, Su Tianxue wanted to grab the kitchen knife.
She endured it.
“Just ‘wife’ then,” she gave in.
Shi Ning played dumb: “What did you say? I didn’t hear clearly.”
Su Tianxue raised her voice: “I said, wife!”
Shi Ning smiled like a blooming flower, “Oh, I’m here.”
“This is the first time you’ve called me wife, I have to remember that.”
Talking to such a nonsense-spouting rogue, Su Tianxue felt like she was going to die of anger. She glared at Shi Ning, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to cook. Shi Ning stood behind her, watching her flushed neck, not bothering to hide her triumphant smile.
What to do?
She was just being a nuisance; she just loved annoying Su Tianxue, watching her shed her icy exterior and throw a little tantrum. It was especially lively, and especially beautiful.
She loved her angry look, and she loved the way she held back tears in bed, refusing to beg for mercy.
Both were beautiful, both made her heart itch.
“Lend a hand,” Su Tianxue was washing tomatoes she’d bought earlier from the fridge. Without turning, she said to Shi Ning, “Hand me the apron.”
Her intention was for Shi Ning to hand her the apron so she could put it on herself, but to her surprise, Shi Ning directly embraced her from behind, startling her. The tomato in her hand slipped and rolled back into the sink.
Washed for nothing.
Su Tianxue angrily: “What are you doing?”
Shi Ning said self-righteously: “Putting on your apron.”
She reached her hands around Su Tianxue’s waist, pulled the two apron strings, untied them, then lifted her hands and draped the neck strap over Su Tianxue’s neck. She adjusted the size, then reached out and gently smoothed Su Tianxue’s long hair out of the strap.
“Do you want to tie your hair?”
Su Tianxue’s hand clutched the tomato, her fingertips feeling a little hot.
“Hm?”
Shi Ning was waiting for her answer.
Su Tianxue lowered her head: “Mhm.”
“Give me a hair tie,” Shi Ning said.
Su Tianxue raised her hand, revealing the black hair tie on her wrist. Shi Ning’s fingertips brushed against her skin, and Su Tianxue’s heart beat a little faster. She couldn’t help but recall what Shi Ning had done to her when they first met.
She pursed her lips.
This person was truly annoying. Just as annoying now as the first time she saw her.
Shi Ning took the hair tie, then used her hand to comb Su Tianxue’s long hair, lifting it up and tying it. She was actually quite careful and gentle. Her movements were just right when tying her hair, and she even asked if it was too tight, if she wanted it looser.
Su Tianxue’s mind buzzed, unable to speak.
After doing all this, just as Su Tianxue expected Shi Ning, with her mischievous nature, to tease her again and do something else, Shi Ning obediently let go and stepped back.
“Alright,” she said. “Now Chef Su can show off her skills.”
Su Tianxue hummed and focused on the tomatoes.
Shi Ning leaned back and watched, then grew increasingly puzzled.
She watched as the plump tomatoes, after their skins were peeled by Su Tianxue, turned into oddly shaped remnants.
Shi Ning couldn’t help but speak: “Wife, your cooking skills…”
Su Tianxue stubbornly said: “Soft fruits like tomatoes are difficult to handle; it’s normal for the skin to stick and be hard to peel.”
Shi Ning: “Are you making scrambled eggs with tomatoes?”
Su Tianxue was silent for a long time, then replied: “Maybe.”
Shi Ning: “…”
She sighed softly, “I’ll do it.”
Su Tianxue looked at her suspiciously: “Can you?”
Shi Ning raised an eyebrow: “At least the situation can’t get any worse than it already is.”
Su Tianxue was a little unconvinced. She threw her apron to Shi Ning, stood aside, and began to act like a hands-off boss, her eyes saying, Alright, let me see what you’ve got.
Shi Ning had never really cooked before, but hadn’t she at least seen a pig run, even if she hadn’t eaten pork?
She used to watch her mother cook at home all the time.
Peeling tomatoes seemed to have a trick to it.
Shi Ning, relying on memory, cut a cross on the bottom of a tomato, blanched it in boiling water, then picked it up. Her fingertips felt a bit hot, so she blew on them and then licked them with her tongue, which helped a little.
Su Tianxue was annoyed that this person was getting horny again. She let her long hair down, covering her slightly hot ears, and then handed the hair tie to Shi Ning: “Here.”
Shi Ning was peeling the tomato, “You help me.”
Su Tianxue reciprocated, tying up Shi Ning’s long hair. As she lowered her head, she was surprised to find that the tomato, which had been so difficult to peel just moments ago, now effortlessly shed its skin in Shi Ning’s hands with a gentle tear.
Su Tianxue was surprised, not even noticing the proximity. Her body pressed against Shi Ning’s, she murmured, “You can do it like that too?”
Shi Ning thought she was a bit cute like this, and couldn’t resist. While working on the tomato, she turned her head and lightly kissed the top of Su Tianxue’s head: “Mm. You can do it like that.”
Su Tianxue immediately became alert: “What are you doing?”
Shi Ning replied matter-of-factly: “Kissing my wife.”
Su Tianxue: “We’re married by agreement, so there’s no need for that.”
Shi Ning pouted: “If we don’t act affectionate now, what happens when the inspection committee actually shows up and we look like complete strangers? I’m just planning ahead.”
After she said this, Su Tianxue seemed to have taken it in. The next second, she approached with a cold face, also leaned in, kissed Shi Ning’s cheek, and asked: “Like this?”
Shi Ning hadn’t expected such a development. She instructed, “You need to kiss more gently; you were too cold just now.”
Su Tianxue clenched her fist, endured it, forced a smile, kissed her again, then asked, “Is that okay?”
Shi Ning laughed at her: “Forget it, wife, don’t smile anymore. If you don’t smile, I can still explain that you have symptoms of facial muscle nerve necrosis. If you smile, I suspect the person in charge of the inspection will think we’re enemies.”
Su Tianxue was annoyed. She glared at her, turned around, and left.
Shi Ning burst into laughter, finished preparing the tomatoes, took out her phone, and started searching for recipes.
She glanced at the ingredients in the kitchen and realized she could make scrambled eggs with tomatoes and also “imitation crab” with salted duck eggs. Two dishes, an all-egg feast, both zeros, perfectly matching her and Su Tianxue’s two ones.
Shi Ning used to really dislike cooking.
She felt it was a waste of time.
As a lawyer, she was always racing against the clock, barely having time to eat each day, let alone cook.
On her rare days off, Shi Ning was even less willing to spend time in the kitchen.
She was usually so tightly wound that on holidays, she preferred to find some fun, whatever was exciting, that’s what she did.
But now, sitting in the kitchen, feeling a gentle breeze, slowly preparing ingredients, watching them change states, becoming a delicious meal under her cooking… hmm, it actually felt quite nice.
It was her first time cooking, so Shi Ning wasn’t very skillful. It took her forty minutes in the kitchen to finish. When she brought the dishes out and placed them on the table, she felt a sense of accomplishment.
Su Tianxue offered, “I’ll do the dishes later.”
Shi Ning had no objection.
They had to divide the labor, after all.
Sitting down, Shi Ning untied her hair, smoothing her long locks: “How is it?” she asked. “Is it good?”
Su Tianxue: “It looks good.”
Shi Ning said expectantly: “Try the taste.”
Su Tianxue nodded, scooped a spoonful of scrambled eggs with tomatoes with a small spoon; it was sweet and sour, perfect with rice. Then a bite of the imitation crab, the flavors of ginger and vinegar mixed together, it did have a bit of a crab-like texture.
“It’s quite good,” Su Tianxue said seriously.
Shi Ning: “They say to capture a woman’s heart, you must first capture her stomach. So, Miss Su, have you fallen in love with me?”
“… ” Su Tianxue pointed to the rice, “The rice is a bit undercooked.”
Shi Ning: …
Su Tianxue coldly retorted: “Keep up the good work.”
Shi Ning wasn’t to be outdone: “Actually, I did it on purpose.”
Su Tianxue: “?”
Shi Ning: “This bowl of rice hints that we’re still a little way from things being cooked through. How about I cook it again, and we try again too.”
Su Tianxue sighed helplessly: “Are you always going to be so improper?”
Shi Ning took the rice bowl from in front of her and said with a smile, “Haven’t you seen me when I’m serious?”
Su Tianxue thought, the most serious this person had ever been was that day in bed when she said, “Miss Su, watch closely, I’m going to use a toy to [expletive] you.”
…
“I’d rather not have that kind of seriousness.” After saying that, Su Tianxue lowered her head and quickly ate a few more bites of vegetables.
They finished their meal only after the rice had been cooked again. Su Tianxue went to the kitchen to wash the dishes as agreed, while Shi Ning sat on the sofa, looking at her phone, handling some work matters.
Being a CEO was actually quite enjoyable. Her subordinates were all highly capable, and even with her as a fraud in charge, no one noticed anything amiss, probably because the character in the novel was tailor-made for her—personality, appearance, even family were all the same.
Shi Ning didn’t need to monitor every detail, only to make judgments and decisions on major issues, guiding the direction.
And she, coincidentally, was skilled at this.
After communicating with her secretary, Shi Ning heard the sound of the door lock. She looked up suspiciously, then met a bewildered pair of eyes.
Fair-skinned, delicate, cute, wearing a pink dress, and bunny-ear slippers.
Shi Ning recognized her immediately: this was the novel’s protagonist, Su Wanxing.
Su Wanxing froze, and Shi Ning greeted her.
Su Tianxue quickly came out, this unexpected development confusing her: “Wanxing, why are you back?”
Didn’t she say she was going on a trip for three months?
“I…” Su Wanxing looked at Shi Ning blankly. “Sister, who is she?”
Shi Ning stood up and walked over to the Su sisters, introducing herself: “Hello, I’m Shi Ning.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Shi Ning felt something was off.
She frowned, smelling an incredibly strong scent of strawberries.
She bit her lower lip, took a step back, and distanced herself from Su Wanxing.
Her Alpha instincts told her that the Omega in front of her was in estrus. Although briefly marked, she would still affect other Alphas.
Shi Ning forced herself to calm down. She tugged on Su Tianxue’s sleeve.
Su Tianxue immediately understood Shi Ning’s situation. She didn’t have time to consider Su Wanxing; she quickly said something to her, pulled Shi Ning into the bedroom, and, click, locked the door.
Su Wanxing stood at the door, very confused. Why was Shi Ning in her house?
And why was she with her sister?
According to the plot, shouldn’t this woman be in love with her, Su Wanxing, obsessed with her, crazy about her, desperately yearning for her? Why was she with her sister?! And they were both… Alphas, weren’t they?
