Paranoid Girlfriend [Transmigrated into a Book] - Chapter 10
After a period of living on edge in the villa, Dai Shiyuan finally received her admission letter.
Seeing the express package in the female lead’s hand, she couldn’t suppress her internal excitement.
She had waited so long, and today had finally arrived.
Now, she could finally spread her wings and fly, no longer needing to live in constant dread around the female lead.
Dai Shiyuan’s undisguised joy was clear to Shan Yaxin, who smiled gently and asked, “Xiao Yuan, do you really want to leave that much?”
Hearing this, Dai Shiyuan keenly detected the danger in her words and quickly reined in the smile on her lips. “I want to see the outside world.”
“You’ll have opportunities later,” Shan Yaxin said, placing the express package on the table, her expression even more gentle. “Go on, open it. There’s a surprise inside.”
A bad premonition flashed through Dai Shiyuan’s mind.
The female lead’s words always made her feel a little strange, but at that moment, she didn’t have time to consider it too much.
Dai Shiyuan tried her best to control her eager movements, slowly tearing open the package, while occasionally glancing at the female lead beside her.
When she caught a glimpse of the school’s name, she incredulously ripped open the rest of the packaging.
Her movements were hurried and rough.
The school’s name was fully revealed: it wasn’t one of the schools she had applied to; instead, it was the female lead’s university.
“Xiao Yuan, are you satisfied with this school?” Shan Yaxin asked with a smile, her expression exceptionally pleased.
Watching her sister-in-law’s shocked and angry face filled her with a sense of triumph.
In her previous life, this woman had caused her to tragically lose her loved ones and eventually die in madness, but that hadn’t brought her any true happiness.
What she desired was to slowly torment this vicious woman, not to let her die so quickly.
Dai Shiyuan’s mind went blank, her hands trembling as she clutched the admission letter, hearing no sound in her ears.
She clearly hadn’t chosen this school. Why had things turned out this way?
Even if it had been a different school, she wouldn’t have been so shocked. Why did it have to be the female lead’s school?
Why?
Dai Shiyuan threw the admission letter away, stood up, and glared furiously at the female lead, demanding loudly, “You changed my application, didn’t you?”
The female lead had been with her when she filled out the application, and the female lead had her login ID and password.
She couldn’t understand why the female lead would use such underhanded means to keep her by her side.
Unauthorized alteration of someone else’s university application was a violation of both moral and legal boundaries.
The female lead was currently a kind and innocent person, so how could she have done something so malicious?
Countless questions flooded Dai Shiyuan’s mind, making her unable to think clearly. She could only confront the female lead with instinctive anger.
Shan Yaxin watched the person in front of her, enraged to the extreme, feeling even more pleased.
Indeed, slowly tormenting this person was the only way to truly savor the pleasure and to vent the hatred from her previous life.
“That wasn’t my intention, I just…” Shan Yaxin quickly shook her head, a troubled expression appearing on her beautiful face.
Just as she finished speaking, another voice sounded in the room, “Mom, Xiao Yuan really seems to want to study outside the province. Will it be bad for us to do this?”
“What’s bad about it?” Dai Mother scolded angrily, her face full of impatience, “Haven’t I already told you? You keep bothering me with such a small matter again and again. Can you even do anything right?”
It was a phone recording!
Dai Shiyuan recognized the voice in the background as Dai Mother.
This matter was actually orchestrated by Dai Mother. Given the female lead’s temperament, she surely wouldn’t refuse Dai Mother.
Could she have misunderstood the female lead?
Dai Shiyuan lowered her eyes, sat down somewhat weakly, and stared despondently at the admission letter at her feet.
Her plan to distance herself had failed…
Seeing Dai Shiyuan’s anger drain away instantly, replaced by calmness, Shan Yaxin’s eyes flashed with a hint of coldness. She bent down, picked up the admission letter from the floor, and comforted her gently, “Xiao Yuan, Mom just can’t bear for you to leave. If you want to blame someone, blame sister-in-law. This is all my fault…”
Dai Shiyuan listened to the pathetic tone in her words and clenched her fingers tightly.
If she didn’t know that the female lead’s current persona was gentle and weak, she would truly suspect that the female lead was being manipulative.
Given Dai Mother’s strong and domineering personality, she wouldn’t gain anything by confronting her now.
But she had to settle this score; she wasn’t as weak and easily bullied as the female lead.
Dai Shiyuan secretly took a deep breath, suppressing the anger in her heart, and rolled over onto the bed, saying, “I’m not feeling well. I want to rest for a bit.”
“Okay, you rest well. If you need anything, just call sister-in-law. Don’t ever think of harming yourself alone,” Shan Yaxin coaxed patiently.
If she were to die from such a small setback, that would truly be meaningless.
Dai Shiyuan didn’t reply, pulling the covers over her head to block out everything.
Now that things were set in stone, what she needed to do was avoid the coming tragedy.
Even if she was at the same school as the female lead, she could still stay away from her.
Currently, the female lead was living in the school dormitory, so she would have to rent a place outside.
Dai Shiyuan was contemplating her future plans when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing that it was a call from Dai Father, an idea flashed in her mind. She quickly answered, softly calling out, “Dad.”
Dai Father’s heart softened, and he said with a smile, “I heard from Yaxin that your admission letter arrived. Dad wants to congratulate you first, for getting into the university you wanted… Xiao Yuan, what’s wrong?”
Dai Father’s words were cut short by a faint sobbing sound from the phone, and he immediately panicked.
“My application was changed… I couldn’t get into the university I wanted…” Dai Shiyuan said, growing more aggrieved as she spoke, crying uncontrollably.
This time, Dai Mother and the female lead had teamed up to bully her. She wanted to retaliate but was powerless.
Now that she had Dai Father, someone to rely on, she couldn’t help but cry.
“Who changed your application?” Dai Father asked angrily, then quickly softened his tone, coaxing, “Dad isn’t yelling at you. For such a big thing as an application, someone actually dared to change it without permission. They really don’t know what’s good for them.”
“It’s…” Dai Shiyuan said one word and then stopped, looking as if she had more to say but hesitated.
Dai Father heard the hesitation in her voice and gently encouraged her, “Xiao Yuan, don’t be afraid. Tell me who it is, and Dad will stand up for you.”
“It’s Mom and sister-in-law,” Dai Shiyuan said tearfully in a low voice.
“Them?” Dai Father frowned, a hint of seriousness appearing on his face. After a moment, he said, “Xiao Yuan, don’t be sad for now. I’ll go ask your mom, and I’ll clarify this matter and give you an explanation.”
“Thank you, Dad,” Dai Shiyuan choked out as she hung up the phone.
Although Dai Father couldn’t change the outcome, his protective demeanor touched her.
In this family, Dai Father was the only one she could rely on in the future.
As for her brother, whom she hadn’t met yet, she wondered if he would be reliable.
Dai Shiyuan cried aggrievedly for over ten minutes before finally stopping.
A short while later, her phone rang again. It was still a call from Dai Father.
Dai Shiyuan answered the phone, softly humming twice, “Dad, about the application…”
“I’ve looked into it. Your mom was indeed in the wrong, and I’ve already spoken to her,” Dai Father said, comforting her gently. He paused for a moment and then continued earnestly, “Your sister-in-law’s school is quite good. It’ll be nice for you to study there, as someone can look after you, and we’ll also feel much more at ease.”
Hearing this, Dai Shiyuan felt a little disappointed.
Ultimately, Dai Father still sided with Dai Mother and didn’t really help her much.
Despite the significant impact this had on her, Dai Father’s ‘punishment’ for Dai Mother was merely a few words. It seemed they didn’t really care much about the school change.
Or perhaps, Dai Father also hoped she would study at the female lead’s school.
“Thank you, Dad, I understand,” Dai Shiyuan said, her voice barely concealing her disappointment.
Dai Father felt a little sad hearing this. After a moment of thought, he comforted her, “Xiao Yuan, what do you want? Dad will buy it for you, consider it Dad’s compensation.”
Dai Shiyuan’s eyes flashed, and an idea quickly formed in her mind. She lowered her voice and said, “I want to buy a house near the school, and please don’t let anyone else know about this.”
“Okay, Dad will take care of it right away,” Dai Father agreed with a smile.
Although he was a little puzzled as to why no one else could know, he didn’t ask further.
Now, making his daughter happy was the most important thing.
With Dai Father’s assurance, Dai Shiyuan’s mood improved slightly.
That house would be her secret base, a guarantee for her to stay away from the female lead.
Dai Shiyuan lay on the bed, meticulously planning her future.
Her chosen major was business administration, not English.
The female lead was currently an English department teacher and the homeroom teacher for one of the classes. She was only responsible for teaching English to students in her own major and would not teach other majors.
This meant she wouldn’t encounter the female lead in class, at least.
By being more careful in her daily life, she should be able to avoid the female lead.
After all, the university was large, with many majors. If one didn’t intentionally look for someone, it would be difficult to meet them even if they were in the same school.
Dai Shiyuan grew more convinced of its feasibility, and her mood gradually brightened.
She was about to take a nap to adjust her mindset, but then a knock came from outside the door.
Recognizing that it was the female lead, Dai Shiyuan immediately sat up straight and deliberately looked in the mirror.
Her eyes were a bit swollen now, and coupled with her youthful face, she looked quite pitiful.
It fit her persona well.
Shan Yaxin pushed open the door and saw a pair of swollen, red eyes. Her own eyes flashed, and she offered a gentle, comforting smile, “Xiao Yuan, don’t be too sad. Sister-in-law will take good care of you in the future. No matter what happens, you can always come to sister-in-law.”
“Thank you,” Dai Shiyuan sniffled, still looking somewhat upset.
She had cried for a while, and couldn’t stop immediately.
Shan Yaxin chuckled coldly in her mind, her face showing concern. “Dad said you’re feeling down and wanted me to take you out for some fresh air and to buy some things you like.”
Hearing this, Dai Shiyuan’s heart tensed, and she quickly refused, “I’m a bit tired and want to sleep.”
She absolutely did not want to go out alone with the female lead. The person she wanted to avoid most right now was the female lead.
“Then, Xiao Yuan, you rest well.” Shan Yaxin’s beautiful face showed a hint of disappointment. After a moment of hesitation, she asked, “Xiao Yuan, are you still blaming sister-in-law for changing your application?”
Dai Shiyuan listened to the pathetic tone and frowned slightly.
She definitely blamed the female lead, but confronting her directly now wasn’t appropriate.
After thinking for a moment, Dai Shiyuan shook her head and turned her back to go to sleep.
Seeing this, Shan Yaxin’s lips subtly curved, a cold glint in her eyes.
