Peach Blossom Dual Cultivation - Chapter 41: I’ll Repay You However You Want
“Don’t let the blood of these two scumbags dirty this place. Brother Wei, I’ll give you some face today—have them return the money they extorted from Ms. Li and leave Feiyun City. We’ll leave it at that.”
Just as Scarface was about to chop off Li Qi and Zhang Dan’s hands, Zhou Lang spoke, though his voice remained icy cold.
Earlier, Zhou Lang had wanted to teach Li Qi and Zhang Dan a harsh lesson to make sure they wouldn’t harbor any more malicious intentions. However, he stopped Scarface now because such a bloody scene wasn’t appropriate in public. With women like Li Mengxue, Cao Yanzhi, and Ivanova present, Zhou Lang didn’t want to ruin his image in their eyes.
“Ms. Li, may I ask how much this scumbag Li Qi extorted from you?”
Duan Wei asked quickly, secretly relieved. Zhou Lang’s softened tone meant the situation could be resolved peacefully. For someone like Duan Wei, if money could solve a problem, then it wasn’t a problem.
“Around seven or eight hundred thousand yuan in total,” Li Mengxue replied. As a woman running a bar, she had worked hard for that money, and it was only fair to get it back.
“Li Qi, hand over the money,” Duan Wei ordered, his eyes fixed sternly on Li Qi, who was slumped on the ground.
“Master. Zhou and Ms. Li have spared you from losing your hand—consider that mercy.”
“Brother Wei, I… that woman, Zhong Ke’er, ran off with all my money… I have nothing left,” Li Qi stammered in fear. He wasn’t lying. After Zhong Ke’er discovered he was impotent, she fled with all his money. He didn’t even have a few thousand yuan, let alone seven or eight hundred thousand.
“Don’t play games with me. You still have that house, don’t you?”
Duan Wei sneered.
“You heard Master Zhou clearly: tonight, you and Zhang Dan must leave Feiyun City. I’ll cover the debt to Ms. Li, but your house will belong to me. If you dare stay in Feiyun City or think of doing anything foolish, you know what the consequences will be.”
“I understand… I understand…”
Li Qi nodded repeatedly, too frightened to protest.
Zhang Dan remained silent, knowing there was nothing more to be said.
“Then get out,” Duan Wei commanded.
Li Qi and Zhang Dan scrambled to their feet and fled like frightened dogs.
The men they had brought with them were left in a state of uncertainty. They were terrified and unsure whether to stay or leave, not knowing what kind of punishment Duan Wei might order.
“What are you still standing around for? How is Ms. Li supposed to run her business with you lot loitering here? From now on, all of you need to behave yourselves. If any of you act arrogant or reckless again, you’ll end up like Li Qi and Zhang Dan!”
Duan Wei scolded them again, and the underlings, relieved, quietly slunk away.
After handing Li Mengxue a check for one million yuan and apologizing to both her and Zhou Lang, Duan Wei finally left.
“Zhou Lang is truly my guardian angel. I’ll never have to worry about Li Qi’s harassment again,” Li Mengxue thought as she looked at Zhou Lang, feeling a strange sense of security. With Zhou Lang around, and Li Qi likely leaving Feiyun City for good, it felt like a new chapter in her life was beginning.
“The problem that’s troubled the boss for years was resolved just like that. This Zhou Lang is something special,” thought Cao Yanzhi. As Li Mengxue’s closest confidante, she was aware of the history between her and Li Qi. Now, Cao Yanzhi’s heart stirred as well, and she found herself stealing glances at Zhou Lang.
She had never paid much attention to Zhou Lang before, but now that she did, she realized he was quite handsome, especially with his strong, masculine demeanor.
“It seems both Ms. Li and Assistant Cao have a good impression of Brother Lang. I can’t hesitate any longer. If I wait, a good man like him will be snatched up by them,” Ivanova thought to herself.
Last night, when Zhou Lang had stayed in her dorm, Ivanova had been undecided about becoming his woman. She knew he was a cultivator and feared that if he had many women in the future, she wouldn’t be able to accept it. But now, she had made up her mind—good men were rare, and missing this opportunity would be a regret she couldn’t bear.
As for Cao Yushan and the other bar employees, they now viewed Zhou Lang as an enigmatic figure. Cao Yushan, in particular, was relieved he hadn’t hired someone to help Zhang Deyuan teach Zhou Lang a lesson. He realized that such a plan would have backfired, and he would have ended up suffering. He had long abandoned that idea.
“Earlier, when Li Qi and his men were causing trouble, they surrounded the bar and even put up a sign saying it was closed for the day, making it easier to target me. Now that the situation is resolved, I’ll go along with it and give everyone the night off,” Li Mengxue said, gathering the bar employees to announce the news. It was clear that having resolved the Li Qi issue had put her in a very good mood.
The employees cheered and left, leaving only Li Mengxue, Zhou Lang, Cao Yanzhi, Ivanova, and a few security guards in the bar.
The security guards were all feeling ashamed, having been overpowered by Li Qi and Zhang Dan’s men and unable to do anything.
“You guys keep watch tonight. Yanzhi, Ivanova, you can go home,” Li Mengxue instructed.
Cao Yanzhi and Ivanova hesitated as they left. Both wanted to talk to Zhou Lang privately to get to know this mysterious man better. However, since the bar was closing, they had no excuse to stay.
…
“Zhou Lang, take me home.”
After Ivanova and Cao Yanzhi had left, Li Mengxue, her eyes filled with affection, spoke to Zhou Lang. After everything that had happened, Zhou Lang had taken an irreplaceable place in her heart.
“Sister Xue, Li Qi is probably on his way out of Feiyun City by now. You don’t need me to take you home or to be your bodyguard anymore,” Zhou Lang said.
“What’s this? You don’t want to take me home or protect me anymore?”
Li Mengxue’s expression changed slightly. She had developed feelings for Zhou Lang, but hearing him say this made her heart race. Now that she knew Zhou Lang wasn’t an ordinary person, she realized that paying him a monthly salary of ten thousand yuan to protect her was a waste of his talents. She feared Zhou Lang might leave.
“Of course I’m willing. It’s just that you won’t be in any more danger, and paying me such a high salary will make me a gigolo,” Zhou Lang replied with a smile.
“I’m willing because I like the feeling of being protected by you. You saved me, so tonight I want to repay you properly,” Li Mengxue said softly, her face slightly flushed.
“I’ll repay you however you want.”
“Repay me however I want? Is she suggesting she wants to sleep with me?”
Zhou Lang thought, noticing Li Mengxue’s shy expression.
He recalled the night they had drinks on the rooftop of her villa. When she got drunk, he carried her inside and caught a glimpse of her ample chest. The memory stirred something within him.
After all, Li Mengxue was a mature beauty in her late twenties—the type of woman a young man in his early twenties would find most attractive. Deep down, he hoped that something might happen between him and this beautiful boss.
And now, it seemed that Li Mengxue was almost hinting that something definitely would happen tonight.
