Picked Up an Amnesiac Little Mermaid - Chapter 5
Yu Huai stood on the terrace waving at Gu Yunyue, “They’re slandering me. I’m not some little lover you’re keeping.”
All the servants and drivers’ eyes instantly focused on Gu Yunyue’s face.
The chief assistant’s pupils trembled as she cautiously glanced at President Gu.
Gu Yunyue choked, “Right, those people are talking nonsense. Come down now.”
Yu Huai wheeled herself out of the elevator, frantically trying to remove the various high-end jewelry chains draped over her, only to end up tangled in them instead.
Yu Huai: Whimper
Unable to bear the sight, Gu Yunyue patiently untangled the chains. Dozens of jewelry pieces worth at least seven figures each were piled onto a tray like cheap trinkets from a dollar store before being unceremoniously stuffed into a wooden box and tossed into the trunk.
Yu Huai gazed longingly at the trunk, then turned puppy eyes to Gu Yunyue, “Are all these shiny things really for me?”
Gu Yunyue’s face darkened like the bottom of a pot as she lifted the girl into the backseat, “Go ahead and play with them.”
The chief assistant watched with bated breath. These were President Gu’s most treasured possessions from her late teens and early twenties, locked away in the seaside villa for five long years after that incident.
Yet she didn’t even get angry seeing Miss Yu Huai treat them like this.
The assistant discreetly observed the blue-haired Yu Huai—her delicate frame nearly swallowed by the oversized wheelchair, so light that President Gu could lift her with one arm.
Her glasses reflected the scene: Yu Huai instinctively clinging to Gu Yunyue’s arm when lifted, her natural charm making her look like a delicate bird seeking shelter. Her cherry lips pressed together nervously before relaxing once seated, a pink tongue briefly darting out to moisten them.
The assistant adjusted her glasses strategically.
This canary was damnably alluring.
That icy heart of President Gu’s—the kind you’d read about in domineering CEO novels—must have already cracked open.
Gu Yunyue frowned, “Why aren’t we moving yet?”
The driver scrambled into position while the assistant took the passenger seat, both maintaining perfectly professional expressions—strictly business, absolutely no prying into the boss’s personal affairs.
Internally, they were already shipping the pair like crazy.
The assistant secretly watched the backseat through the rearview mirror.
Yu Huai leaned against Gu Yunyue, her ivory silk dress cascading to her ankles. The modest cut gave the blue-haired girl an almost nun-like purity—untouched by worldly concerns.
Her clear eyes, more innocent than a fawn’s, gazed smilingly at President Gu.
Yu Huai propped her chin on her hand, “Miss Gu, the servants said it’s a four-hour drive to City C.”
Gu Yunyue scanned documents on her laptop. “What’s your point?”
Yu Huai asked, “Do you want to sleep with me in the car?”
The weather was quite hot, and fish like her preferred cool things. Gu Yunyue’s body temperature ran lower than most humans—perfect for a fish.
Gu Yunyue choked violently, “…”
Yu Huai continued with shocking boldness, “We can’t? We don’t even need to take clothes off. Just let me lie on you.”
Gu Yunyue coughed until her entire face turned red, hastily unscrewing a water bottle and downing half of it to compose herself.
The chief assistant exclaimed, “!”
They’d only known each other a few days, yet Miss Yu Huai was already this formidable!
To conquer the Iceberg President Gu—truly an inspiration to us all.
As the assistant covertly observed the battlefront, Gu Yunyue abruptly raised the partition.
Cutting off all sight and sound.
Leaving behind nothing but suggestive silence.
Yu Huai clung to Gu Yunyue, her silk dress in disarray, her beautiful body even more intriguing under the close-fitting fabric.
Satisfied, Yu Huai pressed against Gu Yunyue’s cool arm. “You’re so comfortable to hold, President Gu.”
Gu Yunyue’s voice was low and husky. “Yu Huai, sit back.”
Being relentlessly pestered by a woman of unknown origins she had just picked up, even Gu Yunyue felt an inexplicable irritation rising in her chest. From her angle, she could see the deep neckline of Yu Huai’s white silk gown, the droplet-shaped pendant on the collar dangling between her collarbones.
Her ivory skin, translucent like crystal, bore faint red marks that invited endless imagination.
The little mermaid hugged the cool human happily, humming a cheerful tune.
The previously annoyed human instantly calmed down.
Like a bristling cat being soothed, Gu Yunyue reached out to stroke Yu Huai’s hair but didn’t push her away.
……
The car stopped in front of the villa. The assistant had already set up the wheelchair, and Gu Yunyue carried Yu Huai into it. The old butler was already waiting at the door.
The assistant exchanged a glance with the butler, who immediately understood upon seeing the newcomer.
The butler smiled perfectly. “President Gu, Miss Yu must be tired from the journey. The kitchen has prepared a seafood feast—it can be served at any time.”
The butler gazed affectionately at the girl in the wheelchair pushed by Gu Yunyue. At his age, he would normally disapprove of women with dyed hair, but Yu Huai’s hair color complemented her complexion so naturally that it didn’t seem deliberately flashy at all.
The butler said, “President Gu, if Miss Yu has difficulty walking, should we arrange for a specialist to examine her?”
Gu Yunyue shook her head. “She’s already been checked. She just needs proper rest.”
The entire mansion exuded classical elegance, the result of generations of accumulation that lent its opulent decor a sense of weighty history rather than ostentation. The carved beams, painted rafters, willow trees, and pines—all were meticulously placed.
Yu Huai nodded in satisfaction. “Miss Gu’s home is quite beautiful. I like it very much.”
The butler was thoroughly startled. This house was a masterpiece of renowned artists—for a young girl to casually say “I like it” was rather presumptuous.
Unfazed by the grandeur of the aristocratic family, Yu Huai let Gu Yunyue wheel her inside.
Yu Huai pulled out a handful of pearls and stuffed them into Gu Yunyue’s pocket. “Take these for now—consider it my lodging fee.”
Before Gu Yunyue could react, her pocket was already heavy.
The pearls ranged from seven millimeters to over twelve, some creamy white, others with a faint golden hue.
Every single one was undeniably valuable.
Gu Yunyue’s family was involved in the jewelry business, so she knew their worth.
Yu Huai eagerly pulled out two more pearls and stuffed them into Gu Yunyue’s pocket. “I won’t freeload at your place.”
Otherwise, it’d be too embarrassing for a mermaid.
Seeing the stubborn look in the girl’s eyes—as if she’d cry if refused—Gu Yunyue sighed.
Her expression was complicated. “Do you know how valuable these pearls are?”
Yu Huai tilted her head, thinking Gu Yunyue was being modest. “They’re not valuable at all. I have plenty.”
A single tear could become a mermaid’s pearl—small tears made small pearls, big tears made big ones.
Gu Yunyue sighed. “Silly girl.”
“I’ll keep these safe for you. You can take them back anytime.”
Gu Yunyue headed upstairs alone. “Uncle Li, I’ll be going out tonight. Don’t prepare dinner for me.”
The butler said, “You’ve had a long journey, President Gu. Please take care of yourself.”
……
After Gu Yunyue left, Yu Huai immediately turned her gaze to the impeccably dressed butler in a suit. “Is dinner ready?”
Butler: “Huh?”
Yu Huai had been starving all the way, her stomach already growling audibly. “Uncle Butler mentioned at the door that a seafood feast was prepared?”
“Can we serve the dishes now?”
The fish is about to starve to death.
The butler replied with mixed feelings, “Very well, I’ll escort the young lady to the dining room.”
The butler discreetly observed the newly arrived Yu Huai. President Gu had always been disciplined, never keeping any lovers, let alone doing something as outrageous as bringing someone home. Who would have thought that a single business trip would result in bringing back a living, stunning beauty?
Carefully probing, the butler said, “The house has three floors above and two below, totaling over a thousand square meters. Your bedroom is on the second floor. Apart from President Gu, no one else usually comes here, so it’s very quiet.”
Yu Huai watched intently as the chef performed a live knife show with an anglerfish, tears of anticipation involuntarily dripping from the corner of her mouth.
Yu Huai: “Could you cut faster? I’m in a hurry to eat.”
Chef: “…”
Butler: “…President Gu has never had any girlfriends or lovers. She’s always busy with work, usually returning home around seven in the evening, though sometimes she has social engagements.”
Yu Huai’s stomach growled loudly again. “This piece of cod is a bit small. Could I have a bigger one? I won’t have enough to eat QAQ”
The butler remained silent.
Do you have no ambition whatsoever?
Shouldn’t you assert your authority as the other mistress of the house and set some rules?
Don’t you want to monopolize President Gu’s heart?
Is food all you care about?
The table was laden with seafood. The butler had initially worried that the portions suggested by the chief assistant were too large and would go to waste. Now he realized how naive he had been.
The little ancestor nearly gnawed on the plates themselves.
Not a single part of the anglerfish was wasted.
That ugly fish died a worthy death.
The table was swept clean like a whirlwind—even the pansies and parsley used as plate decorations weren’t spared. Anyone unaware might think the Gu family had fallen so low they couldn’t even feed a young girl properly.
Yu Huai elegantly wiped her mouth. “Passable.”
The butler’s pupils trembled in shock. “Miss Yu, would you like some digestive tablets?”
Yu Huai tilted her head in confusion.
The fish isn’t even full—why would she need digestion aids?
After a long pause, the fish finally realized that human appetites differed from hers. Blushing slightly, she smiled shyly:
“If I cuddle with your President Gu to sleep, it’ll digest naturally.”
“Your President Gu is very good. When I hug her, she never pushes me away.”
The fifty-something butler exclaimed, “!”
Was this something he should be hearing?
…
Gu Yunyue sipped half a glass of champagne, her loose suit jacket draped over her arm, the golden earrings dangling from her earlobes swaying gently.
After several rounds of drinks, the surroundings grew noisy, and Gu Yunyue felt a throbbing pain at the back of her head.
She could only drink lightly—any more would give her a headache.
Gu Yunyue set the champagne glass on the table, and immediately, everyone at the table turned their attention to her.
“I’ll take my leave now. Enjoy yourselves.”
“Don’t go yet, President Gu! The night’s just getting started. We’ve invited a few popular young celebrities to perform dances later.”
“Was the food not to your liking? I’ll have them bring new dishes right away.”
“President Gu, about the cooperation matter—”
Gu Yunyue waved her hand. “It’s getting late. There’s a young girl waiting for me at home.”
The chatter around her instantly ceased.
What?
President Gu has a hidden beauty in her golden house?
Which lucky girl could it be?
Gu Yunyue stepped out of the private room and wearily sank onto the sofa. Opening her phone, she was greeted by a flood of messages from the butler about Yu Huai.
Biting back the pain, Gu Yunyue typed, “Tell Yu Huai not to sleep. Wait for me to come back.”
Her headache was becoming unbearable—she needed to take a deep breath of that person to ease it.
