Picked Up an Amnesiac Little Mermaid - Chapter 6
Yu Huai sat obediently by the window, waiting for Gu Yunyue to return home, dressed in a strappy nightgown with thin white silk draped over her shoulders.
The butler said, “Miss, President Gu is drinking outside. I’ll drive to pick her up.”
He gave Yu Huai a meaningful glance. “President Gu would very much like to see you.”
The butler had figured it out—this little ancestor had no particular feelings for their President Gu, treating her merely as a long-term meal ticket.
But the fact that President Gu had brought her home suggested she was utterly smitten.
Yu Huai hugged a small blanket. “Should I wait for President Gu in bed?”
The butler had served the Gu family for many years, having watched Gu Yunyue grow up, and felt a kind of paternal affection for her.
“After drinking, President Gu might have a headache and could be in a bad mood in the car. If you were there to accompany her, she’d surely relax more.”
The butler steeled himself. “President Gu can’t do without you.”
Yu Huai pondered—humans were so fragile.
The butler exaggerated, “After drinking, President Gu can’t be left alone. Without you, she might cling to some other little seductress.”
Yu Huai’s pupils trembled. “That won’t do! I’ll go right now!”
Gu Yunyue could only have her as her one and only lifesaving fish—how could she be lured away by some ugly human?
Yu Huai quickly maneuvered her wheelchair. “Where’s the car? I need to find Gu Yunyue now.”
The butler smiled in satisfaction. “I’ll help you into the car right away.”
…
The club was dazzlingly opulent. Gu Yunyue lounged lazily on a velvet sofa as women in high heels, all long-legged, clicked across the marble floor.
Gu Yunyue’s face was flushed, her lips a deep red from the alcohol, like a ripe cherry waiting to be tasted.
She pressed her fingers to her temples. “It hurts.”
Irritated, she checked her phone and muttered, “What’s taking Uncle Li so long…”
“Oh, isn’t this President Gu? Have some lemon water to sober up.” A woman in a pink miniskirt sidled up to her. “Do you remember me?”
Gu Yunyue’s head throbbed, her vision dotted with black spots—she couldn’t possibly recognize every flirtatious face.
“President Gu, I’m an artist signed under your company. Last time you passed by the dance studio, you praised my performance.” The pink-clad starlet had been accompanying the director and happened to spot the familiar figure on the sofa.
“President Gu, shall I take you home?”
Her fingers lightly brushed Gu Yunyue’s hand. Rumors said this CEO was as cold as ice, untouchable and chaste.
The starlet’s eyes gleamed. “President Gu, do you have a headache? Let me massage your temples.”
The moment her fingers touched Gu Yunyue’s skin, the CEO’s gaze turned icy. “Get lost.”
The starlet forced a smile. “President Gu?”
Gu Yunyue had a headache, but she wasn’t stupid—she knew exactly what these people wanted.
She narrowed her eyes at the pretty-faced artist. “I’ll contact your manager tomorrow. You can take a year off from work.”
A year was enough to vanish from the entertainment industry.
The starlet paled. “President Gu, I—”
Before she could defend herself, Gu Yunyue spotted a wheelchair-bound girl in the distance, slowly approaching, still wearing her silk nightgown from home—utterly out of place in this decadent setting.
Gu Yunyue’s head throbbed painfully from the hangover, making her dizzy to the point where she couldn’t fucking tell if Yu Huai was really there or if she was hallucinating.
Yu Huai maneuvered her wheelchair with concern. “Miss Gu, are you drunk?”
She quickly patted Gu Yunyue’s hand, then looked in surprise at the awkward little starlet standing nearby, unsure whether to sit or leave.
The entire fish was stunned.
Was someone really trying to seduce the human she’d picked up from the sea?
The starlet froze in terror as she noticed the deep blue storm brewing in the eyes of the fragile girl in the wheelchair. The scent of seawater inexplicably filled her nostrils.
A suffocating sensation rose from her chest—
The starlet turned pale with fright and bolted.
Yu Huai snorted disdainfully as the girl fled. “The butler was right—Miss Gu might get lured away by others outside.”
Her cool fingers brushed against Gu Yunyue’s flushed, drunken cheeks, the touch soothingly refreshing.
Gu Yunyue instinctively nuzzled into Yu Huai’s palm.
So soft. So fragrant.
The scent of alcohol mixed with the peony fragrance from Gu Yunyue’s body—the fish loved it.
Yu Huai spread her arms and gently embraced Gu Yunyue on the sofa.
Only then did Gu Yunyue realize belatedly, “Yu Huai… why are you here?”
Her voice was hoarse from drinking, carrying a faint, unintentional allure.
The moment she touched Yu Huai, the throbbing pain in her head vanished instantly, and the noise in her ears quieted.
Meanwhile, the fleeing starlet stopped, still shaken. “Who’s that little b1tch clinging to President Gu?”
“Why can’t I touch her, but that girl gets to hold President Gu’s hand?”
Her eyes darted around, assuming Yu Huai was another artist from the company, and she quietly hid behind a wall to eavesdrop.
Yu Huai’s voice was soft and sweet. “Miss Gu, is it true that you cry and throw tantrums when you’re drunk and can’t see me?”
Gu Yunyue, slow from intoxication, took a long moment before replying, “We’ve only known each other for a few days. Why would you say that?”
Was she drunk or insane? Why would she cry and make a scene just because she couldn’t see Yu Huai?
For a moment, Gu Yunyue wondered if her drunken auditory hallucinations had worsened.
Yu Huai: “The butler told me you cling to other temptresses when drunk. You’re an unfaithful person.”
The little fish generously decided not to argue with someone who wasn’t sober.
Gu Yunyue: “?”
It was a miracle she hadn’t been abducted by now in her twenties.
As Yu Huai pulled her into the car, she chattered nonstop,
“You’re mine now. You can’t go around flirting with others.”
“Would other temptresses give you money like I do? No, they wouldn’t!”
“Only I can take care of you. I pay you, so you can only be with me.”
The fish was so angry her almond-shaped eyes turned red, her whole body trembling with indignation.
How dare some ugly humans try to take away the human she had worked so hard to save?
Dazed, Gu Yunyue tilted her head in confusion, her gold-rimmed glasses perched crookedly on her nose, making her look rather foolish.
When had she signed some kind of contract selling herself?
Since when did she belong to Yu Huai?
Behind the wall, the starlet covered her mouth in shock—she had just overheard an earth-shattering secret.
She had assumed Yu Huai was just some plaything President Gu kept around, a disabled little girl.
But it turned out this little girl had whisked President Gu away.
The untouchable President Gu, who wouldn’t let anyone near her, was now being stroked on the face, caressed on the neck, and scolded while being led away.
…
Gu Yunyue’s headache was gone, and she passed out drunk in the car, her cheek pressed against Yu Huai’s thigh.
She didn’t wake again until noon the next day.
The usual hangover headache was nowhere to be found—not with Yu Huai around.
Half of Gu Yunyue’s face was buried in a soft pillow, her arms wrapped around a fluffy, light-blue head resting against her collarbone.
So soft. Despite how slender she was, her figure was lovely.
Through the neckline of her clothes, a glimpse of snow-white skin and soft curves could be seen.
Gu Yunyue stroked Yu Huai’s hair. “Last night…”
Yu Huai yawned sleepily and nuzzled deeper into Gu Yunyue’s embrace. “You wore me out last night.”
Gu Yunyue’s fingers stiffened. “What?”
Yu Huai pouted up at her, accusatory. “You slept on top of me, nibbled my collarbone, stole the blankets, and kept your hand on my waist.”
“Even asleep, you’re so demanding. I can’t imagine how much worse you’d be awake.”
Little Fish had never suffered like this before. Little Fish just wanted to cling to her human.
Yu Huai said, “If we keep sleeping like this, I’ll end up pregnant sooner or later.”
Gu Yunyue said, “…”
Gu Yunyue got out of bed with mixed feelings. “There’s just one problem—women can’t get each other pregnant.”
Yu Huai pressed a hand to her soft stomach. “I can.”
Gu Yunyue said, “.”
Yu Huai hugged the pajamas Gu Yunyue had just taken off and inhaled deeply. “I can lay eggs.”
Gu Yunyue’s pupils trembled, “?”
Yu Huai gestured with her smooth, delicate fingers. “Eggs this big. White and smooth. I hear it hurts a little, but I’d lay them with you.”
Gu Yunyue said, “…I don’t have any interest in those kinds of toys.”
Yu Huai asked, “?”
Gu Yunyue pulled a few pieces of clothing from the wardrobe and tossed them at Yu Huai. “Get dressed. You’re coming with me to see a doctor today.”
“And… thank you for picking me up last night.”
She took a card from her wallet and flicked it toward Yu Huai. “The PIN is the date I found you on the beach. No spending limit—use it however you want.”
Dressed and ready, they drove to a quiet villa district in the city center. Hidden among the luxurious houses was a psychological clinic.
The interior had a rustic charm, and the moment they stepped inside, the faint scent of rosewater relaxed the nerves, lulling them into a lazy comfort.
A small bell hung by the door, its gentle chime soothing with every open and close.
Gu Yunyue was a regular here.
Gao Xueli stood at the entrance. “Well, well, if it isn’t my esteemed President Gu, finally gracing me with her presence. Let’s see how you slept last night?”
Her speech carried an awkward, half-translated accent—having grown up abroad, her English was more fluent than her Mandarin.
She wore her white coat like a stylish trench coat.
Gao Xueli took a closer look. “Wow, esteemed President Gu, you slept wonderfully last night. Even the dark circles are gone. God bless you.”
Gu Yunyue pushed Yu Huai inside with a dark expression. “My good sleep had nothing to do with God.”
Between medication and consultations at this clinic, Gu Yunyue spent at least seven figures annually.
Gao Xueli observed the delicate girl in the wheelchair, her deep-sea eyes timid as she clutched Gu Yunyue’s sleeve tightly. “New patient?”
Gu Yunyue shook her head, smiling gently at the girl. “She is my doctor. Be good, don’t be nervous.”
Gao Xueli brought Gu Yunyue a plate of freshly baked cookies. “I heard President Gu encountered a storm at sea and was washed ashore.”
“Did your thalassophobia relapse?”
“Let’s talk about it. How much worse are the headaches?”
Soft music flowed through the tranquil space as the aroma of essential oils loosened the patient’s tense nerves.
Gu Yunyue glanced at Yu Huai, who was stuffing freshly baked cookies into her mouth like a little hamster, and massaged her temples.
“The headaches are gone.”
“As long as I’m with her, I’m fine.” Gu Yunyue hesitated for a moment. “Mostly.”
Gao Xueli looked surprised. “President Gu is in a relationship?”
Gu Yunyue: “No. As long as I’m with Yu Huai, not only do my thalassophobia-induced headaches ease, but even hangover headaches disappear, let alone document-induced ones.”
“It’s incredible.”
Gu Yunyue displayed stronger curiosity than ever before in front of Gao Xueli. “Doctor, is this normal?”
Gao Xueli wrote in the medical record. “Wait, so to avoid headaches, President Gu needs to be inseparable from Miss Yu—to be in a relationship?”
Gu Yunyue corrected: “Not a relationship.”
Yu Huai finally understood and nodded. “Right, not a relationship. Just a purely financial and physical arrangement.”
Gao Xueli asked, “?”
