- Picked Up an E on the Roadside! I Totally Fell for Him After Our Contract Marriage
- Chapter 1 - Contract Marriage
The bell signaling the end of class echoed through the teaching buildings of Ning University. Students packed up their books and filed out, and without fail, every single one of them instinctively glanced at the man standing in the corridor.
Shi Jing held a file in his hand, occasionally checking his messages. His cold expression seemed coated in frost, and his mere presence silently warned everyone—
He was an Alpha not to be trifled with.
One of the Omegas walking with their roommate kept stealing glances at Shi Jing before mustering the courage to approach him. “Hey, are you waiting for your partner to finish class?”
The Omega exuded a sweet, milky scent, with long lashes and soft, pinchable cheeks—the very picture of innocence.
Shi Jing gave him an indifferent look. “No.”
“Then, could I add you on WeChat? I’m majoring in business—”
“No.” Shi Jing cut him off.
The Omega’s smile froze. His roommate shot him an apologetic glance before quickly pulling him away.
“So cold.”
“Yeah, but he really is handsome. At least we got an eyeful.”
“You’re lucky you’re bold. Didn’t you see everyone else avoiding him?”
“I know, but I had to try.”
Shi Jing overheard their whispers but showed no reaction.
On WeChat, the Shi family patriarch was bombarding him with another round of scolding. The voice message was long-winded, so Shi Jing skipped listening and converted it to text instead.
You brat! No wonder you had no interest in the blind dates I arranged—you were already seeing someone. Why didn’t you tell me something so important? If I’d known, I wouldn’t have wasted time introducing you to all those Omegas. That boy looks pretty young—still in school?
Shi Jing frowned. You had me followed?
Shi Shunde, knowing he was in the wrong, stubbornly retorted, Only because I was worried about you! Other Alphas settle down in college—what about you? Bring your little boyfriend home sometime. Don’t forget what I told you.
Ever since retiring, the Shi family patriarch spent his days either drinking tea, playing chess, or obsessing over his grandson’s marital prospects.
Got it.
After typing a perfunctory reply, Shi Jing shoved his phone back into his pocket and coldly stared at the front door of Classroom A401 across the hall.
Ten minutes later, the sound of chairs snapping back into place finally came from inside.
Shi Jing’s gaze swept over every person who exited until it landed on the tallest among them.
The young man had a sharp nose bridge, deep-set eyes, and a polite yet distant smile. His roommate walked beside him, discussing lunch plans.
“No classes this afternoon—let’s grab the guys and eat out.”
“I’ll pass. I’ve got something to take care of.”
Shi Jing stepped forward. “Wei Qinan.”
“Aw, come on, it’ll be more fun if—” The roommate paused mid-sentence, glanced at Shi Jing, and after a moment of thought, realization dawned. “Ohhh, you’ve got plans. Next time, then. I’ll head out first.”
With his survival instincts kicking in, the roommate took one look at Shi Jing’s murderous expression and bolted.
Thanks to the extended class, everyone was hungry. In just a few moments, the classroom was completely empty.
Shi Jing tilted his chin up. “Come inside with me.”
Wei Qinan pressed his lips together and obediently followed.
Upon entering the classroom, Wei Qinan locked the door behind them and immediately apologized, “I’m sorry.”
Shi Jing shot him a cold glare.
“The professor suddenly changed the schedule—we had to come early this morning, so I didn’t have time to wait for you to wake up,” Wei Qinan explained, knowing full well the other man had come to demand answers. “I planned to rush back after class, but the afternoon session got moved to the morning too, which delayed me.”
Hearing this explanation, most of Shi Jing’s anger dissipated. “…Oh.”
So it was just a last-minute schedule change.
He’d thought this bastard had slept with him and then run off, which was why he’d stormed over here.
Remembering his original purpose, Shi Jing pulled a document from his backpack and placed it on the table, his tone indifferent. “Review the contract. Sign it if there are no issues.”
As he spoke, he rubbed the back of his neck.
Shi Jing was an Alpha, yet today he wore an Omega gland patch—something only Omegas typically used—to cover both the bite mark and the lingering scent.
The reason was simple.
Yesterday, his father had pressured him into yet another arranged meeting, but Shi Jing refused to settle. The failed encounter got him kicked out of the house.
Frustrated, Shi Jing crashed a friend’s drinking party. Drunk on his way back, he picked up a man drenched from the storm, only to wake up the next morning feeling like he’d been mauled by a dog, with a mark on his neck—
It was common knowledge that only Omegas could be marked.
And Shi Jing was undeniably an Alpha.
Yet, he’d been marked.
An Alpha—marked!!
Realizing this, Shi Jing pinched the bridge of his nose and immediately had someone dig up Wei Qinan’s background.
To make matters worse, his father had somehow found out about this humiliating incident.
Noticing Shi Jing’s silence and apparent discomfort, Wei Qinan asked quietly, “Does your neck hurt? Let me massage it for you.”
“…” Shi Jing’s brows furrowed, but his burning ears betrayed him. He bristled like a fox with its tail caught, snapping, “None of your business. Just sign the damn contract.”
After practically wrecking him yesterday, now he wanted to play the concerned caretaker?
Wei Qinan finally noticed the document on the table was a marriage agreement.
“Marriage contract?”
Shi Jing nodded tersely. “My old man found out about last night. He thinks you’re my boyfriend.”
Raised with strict principles against promiscuity, Shi Jing had always kept to himself. So when he brought someone home, his father naturally assumed Wei Qinan was his serious partner.
Wei Qinan met his gaze. “I’m sorry for causing such a misunderstanding.”
“…It’s fine.” Shi Jing tapped the table, redirecting his attention to the contract. “The old man’s been pushing me to marry for ages—this isn’t about you. Wei Qinan, I checked your records. You’re single. Marry me for one year under this agreement, and I’ll make sure you’re well compensated.”
He held up a figure. “Ten million. If that’s not enough, we can negotiate.”
He’d done his research—Wei Qinan came from modest means, barely scraping by each year. This sum would secure a comfortable life for him and his family.
Wei Qinan stayed silent, reading through the contract details.
Shi Jing gave him space to consider, idly scrolling through his phone nearby.
But he’d underestimated his own condition. Earlier, anger had numbed him; now that he’d cooled down, certain aches began making themselves known.
He couldn’t sit still, nor stand comfortably—everything felt awkward.
Shi Jing: “…” It hurt so much.
The back of his neck, temporarily patched with an Omega gland sticker, could only be described as a complete disaster.
An Alpha’s gland structure was different from an Omega’s, and this mark had been brutally bitten into him—of course it hurt.
Damn it!!!
But Shi Jing was the type who could hold up the sky with his mouth if it collapsed, so he gritted his teeth and endured it.
Wei Qinan had only glanced at the first page: “…I have a question.”
Shi Jing was physically uncomfortable, and his tone was icy: “Speak.”
“Why does the agreement say ‘AO Agreement’? You should have already received my records.” Wei Qinan’s voice carried a hint of amusement and teasing. “I’m an Enigma.”
Shi Jing’s eyelid twitched at the painful reminder: “…”
His biology teacher had once said that there existed an extremely rare gender in the world—Enigma.
These individuals stood above Alphas, capable of marking any gender.
Among the entire population of Blue Star, Enigmas made up less than 0.1%.
And Shi Jing, in his drunken stupor, had somehow picked up an Enigma—and had even been marked by him!
