- Picked Up an E on the Roadside! I Totally Fell for Him After Our Contract Marriage
- Chapter 2 - Just a Fake Marriage
The agreement was hastily drafted this morning. He forgot to tell the lawyer that Wei Qinan was an Enigma, so the lawyer naturally assumed he was marrying an Omega.
Shi Jing remained silent for a moment. “Mm, I understand. Other than that, are there any other issues?”
Wei Qinan continued reading.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with the concept of a contractual marriage.
Arranged marriages among wealthy families often lacked genuine affection, and prenuptial agreements were common to simplify future asset division.
However, the terms of this agreement were surprisingly straightforward.
Wei Qinan wasn’t required to fulfill any spousal duties—he only needed to live with Shi Jing and play along to deceive the old man.
Wei Qinan flipped through the pages, confirming there were no additional clauses. “Are these the only requirements?”
Shi Jing shrugged. “It’s just a fake marriage.”
“Then how should I cooperate with you?”
Shi Jing hadn’t thought that far ahead when drafting the agreement. He answered casually, “Anything goes. Just act considerate in front of others.”
As an Alpha, the instinct to find an Omega to spend his life with was practically engraved in his genes. Unfortunately, the Omegas who came for matchmaking were all after his money—too materialistic and insincere. The rare decent ones he encountered didn’t spark any feelings in him.
If it weren’t for his father’s relentless pressure to marry and last night’s incident, he wouldn’t have even considered a contractual marriage with Wei Qinan.
Shi Jing snapped out of his thoughts and added, “The old man is quite paranoid—he might send people to keep an eye on us.”
“Who knows what methods he’ll use… Anyway, just act lovey-dovey.” He had always been cold toward everyone and couldn’t feign warmth, so Wei Qinan would have to be the affectionate one.
Wei Qinan didn’t hesitate. “Alright. I don’t have classes this afternoon, so I can go back to my dorm and pack. Should I move to the place we stayed at yesterday?”
Shi Jing took back the now-useless agreement and messaged his lawyer to revise it. “Not there. I’ll have my assistant send you the new address.”
When he looked up, he noticed Wei Qinan watching him intently, a faint trace of concern in his eyes.
Wei Qinan was even taller than him, and when he lowered his gaze, his eyelids cast a slight shadow, making his expression unreadable.
Shi Jing grew wary. “What?”
“I didn’t control my strength well last night—it must still hurt.” Wei Qinan pointed at his own neck. “There’s no one in the teaching building now. Let me help you?”
The longer he stayed awake, the more memories of last night resurfaced.
Despite how composed Wei Qinan seemed now, last night he had been reckless, even teasingly asking if this or that felt good.
Especially when he bit him.
Shi Jing: “…”
Why was he even thinking about this?! Was it because of the mark messing with his head?!
Annoyed with himself, Shi Jing snapped, “No need.”
Wei Qinan insisted, “But I’m an Enigma. Without my pheromones to heal the mark, it’ll take you much longer to recover on your own. I doubt you’d want to wear a gland patch for a month.”
Shi Jing stiffened slightly, forced to admit Wei Qinan had hit his sore spot.
Even if it were just an Alpha marking an Omega, the Alpha would still need to put effort into healing the bite.
This mark was an accident. From now on, he’d make sure to take suppressants—there was no way he’d let Wei Qinan mark him again.
Thinking this, Shi Jing nodded, “Mm.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, his wrist was seized, followed by a cool sensation at the nape of his neck.
The gland patch was gently peeled off, releasing the faint scent of Shi Jing’s own hyacinth into the air.
A closer sniff would reveal another subtler fragrance mixed in, carrying a slight astringency.
Wei Qinan’s records listed his scent as the red spider lily. Shi Jing had only seen pictures of it online—rumored to have ominous symbolism and rather tragic connotations.
With his back to Wei Qinan, Shi Jing couldn’t see the other’s expression.
Unlike Omegas who could quickly heal their own glands, an Alpha’s exposed wound left him feeling irritable.
His skin was also more sensitive than most, causing his neck to involuntarily twitch when lightly brushed by fingers.
Time was running short. Wanting to hurry things along, Shi Jing felt Wei Qinan lean in and press a kiss to the back of his neck.
An Enigma’s pheromones weren’t as intense or aggressive as an Alpha’s. Instead, they flowed like a gentle stream, softly soothing their marked partner.
Shi Jing’s legs nearly gave way, startled to find the pain in his neck genuinely easing.
His ears and face burned crimson as he struggled to control his reaction, forcing his voice to sound firm. “Done yet?”
“Just a bit longer.”
Wei Qinan inhaled Shi Jing’s scent before releasing more of his own pheromones.
After the kiss, Wei Qinan hesitated briefly before ruffling his hair with a smile. “Does it still hurt?”
“…” Shi Jing narrowed his eyes in comfort, unwilling to answer. “Is it done now?”
“Mm.”
Wei Qinan retrieved a fresh gland patch from the small box behind the classroom door.
“They’re all new—emergency supplies from the school,” he explained, anticipating Shi Jing’s distaste.
“I know.” Having graduated just last year, Shi Jing was well aware each classroom stocked such items.
Wei Qinan fell silent, neatly applying the patch for him.
Enigmas were so rare that specialized products for their marked partners were hard to come by, especially when the partner was an Alpha.
Fortunately, modern advancements meant Omega supplies could suffice.
“Are you going to work this afternoon?” Wei Qinan asked, then reconsidered—a pampered young master like him should be preparing to inherit the family business, not clocking in.
But Shi Jing replied, “Yes.”
With the pain subsiding, his complexion had improved noticeably.
Adjusting his collar to better conceal the patch, Shi Jing said, “I’m leaving. Wait for my assistant to contact you after you’ve packed.”
His gait was slightly off from lingering soreness, but his icy demeanor drew attention to his striking features rather than his discomfort.
“Wei Qinan stood behind him. “Shi Jing.”
Shi Jing turned. “?”
“Let me carry you downstairs.”
“No need.”
“But you look like you’re in pain.” Wei Qinan gestured at his waist. “Last night we—”
“…” Shi Jing nearly kicked him down the steps. Remembering Shi Shunde might have sent observers, he relented. “Fine. Walk slowly.”
“Okay.”
Broad-shouldered and long-legged, Wei Qinan’s toned physique radiated youthful vigor.
Shi Jing lay on his back, one arm hooked around Wei Qinan’s neck, naturally commanding, “Take me to the school gate.”
“Alright. By the way, have you had lunch yet?”
Shi Jing replied, “I’ll eat at the shop.”
He didn’t elaborate, so Wei Qinan didn’t press further, instead changing the subject. “You know what? You’re easy to appease.”
Shi Jing was caught off guard. “What?”
“Nothing.” Wei Qinan chuckled softly, his chest vibrating with laughter.
Just moments ago, Shi Jing had come looking for him with murderous intent.
And last night, after pushing too far and getting scolded, just a few kisses had been enough to calm him down.
It seemed the young master’s temper flared up quickly but faded even faster.
Wei Qinan tried to keep his steps steady, ignoring the curious glances from passing students, and dutifully escorted Shi Jing to the car.
Before the window rolled up, Shi Jing fiddled with his phone and said, “Remember to withdraw from the dorm. You’ll be living with me for the next year.”
Wei Qinan obediently agreed, “Alright, got it.”
With everything settled, Shi Jing turned his attention to his phone and signaled his assistant to drive off.
Ye Li glanced at his boss through the rearview mirror.
Since getting into the car, Shi Jing had been subtly adjusting his posture, his expression strained and slightly annoyed.
Unable to hold back, Ye Li asked, “Boss, is the seat too far back? Should I move it forward?”
Shi Jing, who was only uncomfortable from sitting, froze for a moment before muttering, “No need.”
